A luxury country farmhouse minutes from Downtown, Vancouver.
A stunning, elegant estate, Belle Chasse is a haven of peace and calm located in Southlands, one of Vancouver’s finest neighbourhoods. This three bedroom 3300 sq. Ft. home, with each of its rooms offering its own "experience", features a one-of-a-kind design by award-winning British Columbia architect, Paul Merrick. Stone and plank wood floors, vaulted ceilings and a multi-storied layout create privacy and garden views from nearly every room.
The main floor includes a dining room highlighted by ample seating for late night raconteurs, European designer fabrics (from Paris’ fabric market) and three French doors onto an inviting gravel courtyard. The living room, with its wood burning fireplace, Juliette balcony and vaulted ceiling embraces 12 hours of celestial light opening on to the courtyard via two more French doors. Nearby, the office features a work space that includes a floor to ceiling library, vaulted ceilings, a large built-in desk area for the remote worker (a printer and general office supplies are provided) and a cozy window seat overlooking the south gardens.
Enjoy creating your masterpiece in the European kitchen with its stunning red six oven AGA cooker, French doors opening on to the courtyard's outdoor dining "room" and its herb gardens awaiting your culinary adventures. This room is bathed in south light, has a gas fireplace, a built in t.v. (the only t.v. in the house) and a feather cloud sectional.
Wake to watch the horses enjoying their breakfast! The front hall staircase, decorated in imported Kidderminster wool carpet, ascends to a large master bedroom with an enormous vaulted window overlooking the lush gardens, fields and horses. Large cottonwoods to the north house 40 year-old eagle’s nests providing home to some of the best afternoon’s Attenborough moments. The master bedroom, with king-size platform bed and south-facing gable windows, has a spacious and private dressing room, a marble bathroom with Victoria and Albert soaker tub (that overlooks the horse paddocks), a walk in shower and a connector door to the east wing.
A back staircase from the family room provides private access to Bedroom 2 (12x13) and Bedroom 3 (9x12) with a shared carrara marble bathroom. None of the three bedrooms has television.
The back entry features washer and dryer, additional powder room and a Eurocave wine refrigerator for the dabbling enophile.
The main house has no driveway view ensuring stable activities are completely separate from the main residence. A coach house accommodating stable/property manager is located on the western edge of the courtyard but maintains a separate entry and has its own outdoor access while also ensuring security and privacy for residents in the main house. Guests are assured of privacy, independence and discretion at all times.
Step away from the property into the park-like neighbourhood of Southlands where a 2 km "duck path" along the banks of the Fraser River feature horses, dogs and neighbours enjoying their daily strolls in this verdant landscape.
Finally, located on a very quiet street this property is located 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver and 20 minutes from Vancouver International Airport and five kilometres from Vancouver’s tony Kerrisdale neighbourhood and coffee hub.
