Tropical treehouse hideaway - close to beach and shops

It's just a short walk down the road to the white sands and sparkly blue waters of Waihi Beach, voted by Lonely Planet as one of the top 10 beaches in New Zealand.

Beach front cafe, the Flat White, is only a short drive away as is the local shops perfect for last min ice for cocktails, lollies or ice creams on hot days!

Nearby Waihi Beach village (2 min drive) is full of boutique shops, fantastic restaurants and cafes, a small supermarket and award-winning butcher making this area full of everything you need for that perfect getaway!

The beaches nearby are wonderful for walking, shell collecting, swimming, surfing or playing in the sand. There are many great walking and biking tracks in the area including the famous Mountain Bike trail through the Karangahake Gorge. This trail is great for any age as is very flat but scenic, you pass over bridges, through tunnels and explore the old gold mine and waterfall. Bike hire is possible in Waihi town or the Waihi Beach village.

This beach house is in an ideal location to explore the Bay of Plenty. Tauranga is a 1-hour drive, and Coromandel is 1.5 hours. The Karangahake Gorge is 20 minutes away for wonderful walking and exploring as well as a winery, restaurant and café, a waterfall and bike trails. Hobbiton is only an hours drive away and the famous Waitomo Caves or Rotorua both 1.5-2 hours away by car. Auckland International airport is also only 2 hours drive.

Set back in its own garden area this tropical treehouse is fun and playful. There's plenty of parking for cars underneath the house and even a caravan plug if you want to bring a caravan for extra guests. You enter the treehouse via some wooden steps and reach the wraparound deck area featuring outdoor relaxing space and bbq area. The deck area can be enclosed with pull down plastic covers that enable enjoyment of the deck even during rainy days. Inside the treehouse has an open plan kitchen a living area with comfy couches, a TV, and cute window seat looking onto the trees. One of the couches is a sofa bed as well. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom also coming off the living area. One Queen bedroom opening onto the deck with snatches of sea views and one double bunk room that sleeps 3, perfect for a second couple or the kids.

Relax on the deck enjoying a glass of wine, enjoy the birds in the trees and the elevated views with glimpses of the sea just across the road. Cook on that BBQ and enjoy outdoor dining on the deck. After a short walk to beach nearby have a swim followed by an ice cream from the famous yellow dairy just a couple of minutes stroll from the house, wash off in the outdoor shower area then sunbath on the lawn or deck. Wake up late to the sounds of the waves crashing on the beach and wander down to the surf shack cafe nearby for brunch, coffee or one of their award winning burgers with a craft beer. It really doesn't get any easier on holiday!

If you bring your boat there is a coin operated ramp 5 minutes away at Bowentown next to the boat club or launch off the Beach at Anzac Bay. This area is amazing as it has the waves and surf on the main Waihi beach but it also has the protected tidal harbour for fishing, water skiing, kayaking and wind surfing or venture out across the bar for excellent fishing and diving out at sea. Enjoying a round of golf is possible in Waihi nearby. There's a huge range of great cafes and shops in the area too.
