The Space:

Decorated in clean, simple, colorful designs, Cartagena 12C has a balcony off the bedroom with two chairs, a small table, and a hammock chair with a view of the town’s cobblestone streets, gazebo, and beach club.

The kitchen features bright ocean-teal cabinets with white stone countertops and a large island. It has a round dining table with a banquette and chairs.

This 82.81-square-meter property, suitable for a maximum of two adults, has air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a washer/dryer, and maid service is available.

This rental includes paid access to the Las Catalinas Beach Club, an exclusive value worth $30 per person per day. The Beach Club has three swimming pools: family, adults only and semi-Olympic (25 meters long and 1.85 meters deep). It also has a Jacuzzi, a restaurant area and a gym (reservation required). To join, talk to the concierge at the Beach Club and you’ll be given a bracelet for access. The Beach Club also offers a sauna and ice plunge at additional costs. The club is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Neighborhood:
Playa Potrero
Offering easy access to three beaches (Potrero, Penca and Prieta), this town combines upscale lodging options with the charm of a traditional Costa Rican town (think central plaza with church, school and soccer field).
There are plenty of restaurants, shops and other conveniences, and the downtown area has two mini supers (convenience stores), as well as a commercial plaza with a coffee shop, a hairdresser and other businesses.
Some of the liveliest nightlife in the region can be found at Las Brisas Bar, right on the beach, though it’s normally hopping only on Wednesdays (Ladies’ Night).
Potrero has several nice housing developments with “Villagio” in the name, popular among Italians and other expats. You can find Italian gelato shops, Costa Rican sodas (small, affordable restaurants) and hotels in a range of prices (Pitaya Lodge, Bahía La Esmeralda, Hotel Isolina, Bahía del Sol).
Just to the south of Potrero lie all the attractions of Surfside, and to the north is a beautiful, hilly drive along the ocean, ending at the Mediterranean-style village of Las Catalinas. Potrero is within easy striking distance of several beaches, and it’s a great base to explore the entire region — for a sampler of both the high-end and the humble.

Getting Around:

For short jaunts to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are a popular choice for convenient mobility. Alternatively, you can opt for a bicycle to navigate the town and its surroundings.

In addition, we can arrange hassle-free airport transfers for your convenience. If you prefer the ease of having a rental car waiting for you at your property, we offer complimentary delivery services. Relax and enjoy the scenic drive from the airport to your destination in our private van.

While taxis are available, they may be somewhat challenging to find. Many locals rely on buses for transportation, although there is a limited selection of routes and schedules. Private shuttles are an excellent choice for reaching nearby destinations, and numerous tour companies offer transportation to and from their tours.

We suggest you buy the damage waiver as this protects you in case you cause accidental damage during a booking.

Some construction — and a discount

Please note that Las Catalinas is a growing project, and this means construction may be occurring during your stay. Every effort is made to minimize noise, but it’s not uncommon to see and hear ongoing construction nearby. It’s a small distraction in a beautiful and peaceful place. A discount to compensate guests has already been factored into the price of this unit.
