Before we booked, we saw that the owner had a negative review about people being kept waiting for the access code. We decided to get in touch with the owner and get him to give is side of the story. More fool us! He duly assuaged our fears, so we booked and made our way up to Wasaga Beach for about 5.30, as the check in time was 4. When we got there, there was no sign of a code anywhere. We tried calling toe owner and got a VM, so we called VRBO and they told us they were sorry, they did not have to code, but they would get hold of the owner. After many increasingly frantic calls, they told us that they could not get hold of the owner either and we were basically SOL for the property, but we could self-relocate and they would refund us. They did indeed do so, but there we sat, on the porch, with a hungry 11 month old in need of a change starting to cry. At this point our luck changed, as the next door neighbour, a lovely woman, spotted us and asked if she could help. We explained our plight and she offered us the use of her facilities (exit one crying tot) and also some leads. We called one of the leads and withing 30 minutes, maybe less, we were set up with some fabulous cottage accommodations at Adrian's Wasaga Beach, minutes away! Thank you so much Dilber at Adrian's for sorting this out and also the helpful neighour/ saviour! No thanks at all to the owner of this cottage, which, by the way, looked, from the outside at least was far more drab, dingey and run down looking.
