Locked out once, almost twice

The property manager was somewhat unhelpful.
The vacation rental was spotless.
I was very unhappy with the location.
I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

Everything with the cottage was great, except for one day when we were in the pool. We went to go back inside and the back door was locked. There was no way to get back in since the back door had a keypad (which we never received the code for). We were trying to figure out how this could've happened, but the only way was locking it from the inside, which we knew nobody was inside. Stuck in our bathing suits with no cottage key, car key, phone...nothing, we had to walk ALL the way to the hotel lobby. Once there, the person at the desk was very rude and could care less what happened. We hitched a ride back to the house on a shuttle. The next day, we were going out to the pool again, and my wife walked out the back door. I was coming around the corner and heard 3 beeps, then the sound of the keypad deadbolt spinning to lock. Nobody else was in the house and nothing was touched. We're still not sure how it was locking on its own, but we were EXTREMELY mad we were locked out and so far from the front desk with no way to call them since our phones were in the cottage. The rest of the stay was good.
