Upon first glance this appears to be a charming beach side house. Beach decor, bright colors, fully stocked kitchen, big beds, and two nicely sized bathrooms. Beautiful location, quaint porch and balcony, an all around picturesque Galveston home. Sadly, upon second glance the charm mostly wore off. This may not bother others, and we are impressed and reverent to the fact that this is a historically preserved home from over 100 years ago, however, the unit didn’t feel comfortably clean, especially with young kids in tow. The bunk bed room was the most uncomfortable spot in the house. The room smelled musty, the floors were not clean, and there was trash under the bunk beds. Felt like the kids were at a lakeside summer camp. The kids kept stepping on or finding burrs in that bedroom! It was rather annoying, and despite our attempts at rallying they didn’t want to sleep in the bunk room after those incidences. We love dogs, but please clean up well enough afterwards so that the next occupants aren’t stepping on the burrs that love to attach to their fur. The other two bedrooms were fine, but we struggled with the overall smell, especially the pillows - the cover was clean, but the actual pillow smelled like the last 10 people that slept there. Lastly, the bathrooms. The towels smelled like mildew and there was visible mold in the shower and on the shower curtains. The bathroom floor rugs were also a concern, they did not feel or look clean. We didn’t stay for our second night.
