Perfect for a large family

This place is a jewel! The house has so much character and space for gathering. Its hard to find places that have enough bathrooms for 10+people. I think I lost count of how many bathrooms were on this property. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful place for a family gathering!

What a wonderful place for a family gathering! We got everything on the listing and more… we filled the home with four families including 3 kids and an 18-month old and felt completely at home. Our host VJ was gracious and responsive and very kind. The biggest selling point to us was the number of bathrooms! Everyone had their very own space on the property to feel comfortable. The outdoor area was spacious and had plenty of activities for the kiddos and pets alike! We cooked the entire time and spent most of our time together in the large living room area. We will definitely be back to visit!

Juneteenth weekend

Overall is great. Owner very nice and tried the best he can to respond to our requests. He even let our kids played in the event/conference building, and let us checked out late 2 hrs, no charge. Plenty of rooms, nice pool and big back porch. Very convenient to highway and closed to the city. There are many bunk beds available but was not listed. We enjoyed our stayed! Thanks to the owner. The only thing that I have problems with is the third party, Evolve. I have to called to correct my bills many times. I brought this matter to the owner and suggested him to look into it.

Lots of space for a gathering

This house has some good space for gathering. It does need some attention. I paid a premium because it was for the eclipse viewing, and I don’t think it was clean as it should have been. The pictures did not match. There wasn’t any hairdryers, but the owner promptly brought us 2 new hairdryers. The kitchen lacked equipment- no pans for utilizing the oven, no flipper for burgers or pancakes, only 4 non plastic forks. The area was nice, needs more outdoor seating.

In its heyday this place was a gem. Forty-four years later it needs much repair and updating. The first day a family member took a shower in the Jack and Jill bathroom. The shower was clogged and flooded the bathroom. Called VJ and he was quick to send a repairman to unclog the drain. It was obvious this had happened previously as there were water stains on the baseboards of the bathroom. This was just the beginning of the structural issues with this house.The house was not cleaned before our arrival as someone had written a date in the greasy, grimy oven hood.Mouse droppings in the pantry, uneven floors, the sauna did not work, floors uneven to the point that doors would not close or open fully, hole in the roof which caused leaking in the upstairs bedroom. The only pillows were ones with the shams on them. They had been stuffed into the shams so much that they were tied on. Did not notice this until we were stripping the beds but makes me think they had not been washed.I would like to discuss with VJ and VRBO a partial refund as this is not up to VRBO standards. It's going to take much work to bring this house up to the standards I am accustomed to with VBRO. I would write much more but am limited to 1500 characters.

Never again

Just finished a stay here with our friend group. Could not have been more disappointed. Almost none of the fridges would hold temperature at all causing both food spoilage and general concern over the safety of food and beverage since we planned on cooking all our meals, would have been nice to know prior to our arrival, after looking at several recent reviews stating that the fridges were an issue. Any problems galore around the pool, which the owner/host did send over a “handyman” whom bought ant spray for us, although it did not solve the issue. Lots of the house was in disrepair with broken fixtures, leaking faucets, pool waterfalls non functioning, air conditioning sub-par. The biggest and most concerning issue we encountered was the rodent problem, several mice were encountered during on stay from the first evening all through the weekend. More mice and rat were seen on our last night there. This listing and house needs to be taken off the market until the problems are fixed, it is not only a safety concern but a health risk as well. We will be commenting and reviewing on all possible platforms, as well as contacting the appropriate entities to make sure things are handled properly

Fun For All Ages

The property is beautiful. The pool area is large with shady and sunny areas. We brought extra chairs. The ballroom provided a cool area for setting up the cornhole game we brought. All ages enjoyed playing pool. Various games were available for both children and adults. We had no trouble finding things we enjoyed doing. There was no working ice maker on the property. The property manager stated they are going to install an ice maker separate from the refrigerators. Some of the pictures of the property need to be updated. Currently the only room with a bathtub is the master bedroom on the second floor of the main building. None of the beds had top sheets. Some rooms did not have regular pillows on the bed--only large and small decorative pillows. When we asked for top sheets, pillows and cases, and additional towels and wash cloths, some were provided, but not as many as were needed. Towels for use at the pool were available. When the refrigerator in the kitchen failed to keep the food cold, the manager called a repairman and furnished a backup refrigerator freezer. No food was lost. We appreciated the actions taken. People staying on the second floor of both buildings commented to me that the temperature was not cool enough. We who were on the first floor were comfortable. This is a beautiful property and a work in progress. We had a wonderful time. The property manager responded to our requests and was easy to work with. We enjoyed our stay.
