"The Hermitage", for a great many years, was a small but sturdy log cabin built on a bare rock on a point on the shore. Known as "Shacktown" by Fishery Overseers', it was both a lookout and observatory.

This two-bedroom woodland cottage is nestled in the heart of Charleston Lake. With 300 feet of waterfront and 270 degree views, this is your home away from home.

The location of The Hermitage is perfect for couples, families, adventurers, nature lovers, and everyone else! Children will delight in combing the premises for dead wood to stock the outdoor fire pit, and once the fire is roaring, roasting marshmallows, making s’mores, and sharing stories from the day!

The driveway is paved and will accommodate approximately four vehicles. 4WD is encouraged in the deep winter months as the roads are

*Necessities provided: Hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, paper towel, toilet paper, and both bathroom and outdoor towels.

*Fully equipped kitchen including: pots/pans/cooking sheets, some spices and cooking oils. Please email in advance to inquire about availability of specific items.

*Outdoor activities available include: kayak and paddle, life jackets, fishing rods, diving board, outdoor folding chairs

*Firewood provided for indoor wood-burning stove and outdoor fire pit.
Guest access
The guests will have access to the entire main house and the full grounds. We restrict access to the interior of the garage and boat house for safety reasons.
