The location is incredible! The best of both worlds; private and quite nestled in a beautiful lot among pine trees and aspen trees but very close to Main Street where all the shops, restaurants and bars are located. Enjoy morning breakfast on the wrap around deck and wake up to the sound of nature and enjoy the amazing view of the mountains.
Enjoy a barbecue, drink some wine and enjoy the best starry skies you will ever see on the HUGE deck! The house has 3 formal bedrooms, bonus room with an office that has 2 additional twin beds, 2 living rooms with 2 1/2 baths.
Walk to town out of the backyard onto the trail that lead to a network of all the great trails. To town it takes 10 minutes via the trail in the summer and 15 minutes in the winter. Head up deeper into the mountains for a nice serene walk or the best mountain bike trails and course. In the winter, bring your snow shoes and enjoy the trails. The roads are well maintained and paved so the access is easy so you could drive to the ski gondola, walk to the corner to catch the free bus or Uber it for only $5.
Cougar Cabin is rustic on the outside but mountain chic on the inside with high-speed internet, fully stocked kitchen, HD TVs with cable in all bedrooms and both family rooms! Nice linens, pillows and beds for a nice restful vacation. We know that it is the little things that matter so we make sure to have fresh coffee beans, sugar, oats, flour and condiments to give you the basics to get your cooking started!
We do a thorough disinfecting clean after every stay which is an extra step we take to ensure the health of our guests. We have installed 3 HEPA Germ Guardian Air Filter Purifiers with UV-C sanitizer which eliminates germs from the environment.
We do allow dogs to stay since we consider them family too. Please look at our house rules for our doggie guidelines. There is a $200 fee per dog per stay. When you check traveling with pets on the vrbo guest portal, it will show up on the host fee along with a $325 cleaning fee. If you have a second doggie, we will collect the fee separately.
Each bedroom is thoughtfully appointed and maintained. The house boasts an rustic-chic interior with every detail tended to. The kitchen and living room is open and great for cooking big post-skiing family dinners. There is a separate family room downstairs perfect for extra space for the kids. Enjoy the Emmy winning Cougar pictures throughout the cabin commemorating my dad’s work.
Skiing is great as Breckenridge is one of the best with enough challenge and diversity to keep you on your toes. Keystone and Arapahoe Basin is 15-20 minutes away. Vail is 35-40 minutes. During the summer enjoy Lake Dillon. Rent a Kayak, paddle board or charter a romantic sail boat and explore all the little islands. Bike the beautiful paved bike paths from Breckenridge to Frisco and around the lake! We love this special place and can’t wait to share it with you!
The Elk Master Suite:
Our favorite room in the cabin is The Elk Master Suite. The room includes a King plush bed with plenty of space to spread out. Electric fireplace and a sitting area, HDTV with Xfinity Cable. The best part? The room has its own private balcony where you can enjoy your sunrise and coffee!
The Mama Bear Room:
This room is perfect two adults who are looking to have a snuggly room with firm mattress. The room is decorated in a bear theme and includes photos of my dad's work. HDTV Smart TV. The rear window has a fantastic view of the mountains!
Little Foxes:
Inspired by the foxes on the property! The kids (and adults) will absolutely enjoy the Little Foxes rooms! This room is equipped with a bunk bed with 2 twin beds. We have placed some toys and books to make kids more comfortable.
Up in the Clouds:
Bonus room/office that has 2 single beds and an office with incredible views, HDTV w/ Roku Stick. We have a yoga/workout area with free weights and yoga mats for relaxation! We love taking the yoga mats to the deck for a morning spiritual awakening session of yoga in the morning! Great for young adults.
Sauna:
Guests are welcomed to utilize the sauna during their stay. We have extra towels and all the tools needed (bucket & ladle) to have a steamy time.
Guests will have access to the entire cabin, backyard, front yard and sauna. We will try to accommodate early check-ins when we can at no extra cost to you.
The guests receive an email with a unique access code to the rear door underneath the deck. It is activated at check-in time and deactivated at checkout time.
Breckenridge is a Colorado town at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Ten mile Range. It's known for its ski resort, year-round alpine activities and Gold Rush history. The Victorian core of this former mining town is preserved as the Breckenridge National Historic District, running primarily along Main Street, with colorfully painted buildings from the 1880s and '90s housing shops, galleries and restaurants. Please visit Summit County to understand the most up-to date Public Health Order.
The Lincoln Trail leads to the Town of Breckenridge. The trail is about a 10 minute hike down and a 10-15 minute hike back.
For those who do not have their own car, I recommend utilizing Lyft or Uber.
Cougar Cabin has three main levels. The main access point is via the ground floor. The main level is the second floor and master and 2nd bedroom on the third floor with the bonus room one level up. We have well water so you may hear the pump release air in the laundry room. During winter, the snow plows can get started a bit early on the street and cause some noise. We do not shovel the deck or front in the winter only the main entrance. We do not provide firewood for the deck firepit but local grocery stores carry firewood kits. Patio furniture is also put away during the winter. Our snowplow will plow the driveway when it snows.
Garbage days are Tuesdays so make sure to take out the garbage before then. We have concierge service which means you do not have to rollout the cans, just make sure you are not parked immediately in front of them.
