‘Surf shacks – basic structures found on beaches around the world used to store surf boards and gear’.
This Surf Shack is certainly by the beach, is a great place for your board and gear but by no means is it basic. A recent renovation makes this shack at Separation Creek on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, a perfect place to hang out after a day on the beach or exploring the Otway Coast Hamlets region. Oh, and did we mention the views!
It's all about nature here, beach, beach and more beach, rock pools, bush tracks, rainforest and waterfalls. Morning beach walks and day beach hangs are literally on the doorstep at the Surf Shack, just 70 steps to the sand, and a 15 minute stroll along 'Paddy's Path' takes you to the Wye General Store or Wye Beach Hotel.
The Space:
Perched just above the Great Ocean Road, the Surf Shack has incredible uninterrupted 180-degree ocean views. And you can take them in from the expansive deck, while lazing on the couch, and even reclining in bed. Chill on the day bed by a sunny north facing window overlooking the leafy gardens before whipping a storm in the fully-equipped open plan kitchen, with cupboards and drawers full of everything you need. Or you can admire the waves and birdlife as you tend the outdoor BBQ. Dining al fresco on the deck comes with a choice of two outdoor tables depending on which part of the ocean view takes your fancy. There is plenty of room to spread out inside with a few provided board games at the large eight-seater dining table, or you may prefer to cosy up on the corner style-couch by the wood heater. Before heading upstairs there is a bathroom-laundry and a separate toilet. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a second bathroom with a toilet and walk-in shower. The two queen bedrooms have ocean views – one with its own balcony - and the four-berth bunk room looks out over the rear garden.
Note:
Max 8 guests will have private use of Surf Shack:
- Booking for 1-2 guests you will have access to 1 x queen sized room (other rooms remain closed)
- Booking for 3-4 guests you will have access to 2 x queen sized rooms (bunk room remains closed)
- Booking for 5-8 guests you will have access to all bedrooms
Footing it around Separation Creek and Wye River is best, with the beach just across the road it's easy to leave your car parked off street at the house.
Separation Creek is a little more than a two hour drive from Melbourne and we recommend you have your own transport to explore more of the beautiful Otway Ranges and the Great Ocean Road. There is private off street parking on site for up to 2 vehicles. A rail service to Geelong and bus service from Geelong link Melbourne to Separation Creek and Wye River.
I live locally so give me a call, preferably between 8am-9pm.
