The beautiful bedroom with 1 king-size bed in a beautiful guest house named Emerald Gem. The location is ideal, walking distance to downtown, park, and river. Beautiful trees and flowers in the front yard and back yard. The dining room inside or bbq on the deck outside the house is available. Living room and washroom is sharing. The carport and driveway can park 4-5 cars. The house is suitable for your travel as well as an ideal place for your work.

The entire house space is shared with others

It's a split level house with every room being rented out on both floors to different people at the same time. If you get a room on the main floor, you get a key to the front door, you share the real kitchen and dining table as well as living room with other people (no TV in the main floor living room) If you get a room in the basement, you get a door code to enter a rear entrance to the basement. You share the basement living room (that has a TV), no real kitchen, and smaller bathroom with others. All individual rooms have doors that lock with keys provided. The problem is there is no physical separation between the main floor and basement. And the picture of the room you see is not necessarily the room you will get. You may be waiting to use the bathroom as they may be occupied by other people. There was air conditioning on the main floor open area only. Our room was hot since we always had the door closed for privacy, but the window opened and a fan was provided. This listing should be listed and treated more like a bed and make your own breakfast before you leave. Privacy is limited to just your room My wife and I stayed for two nights. It was ok.

Emerald Gem no Longer Beautiful

While the location of the house was good for easy access to downtown Charlottetown by car, the place was filthy. We were there (my mother and I) for 5 nights. It was dirty when we got there and was not cleaned once during our stay. We had to share a washroom with 2 other couples most nights and the owner. The counters, mirrors, shower, walls and floor were disgusting. The entire house looked like it had never been cleaned. It looks like the only thing that the owner does clean regularly are the sheets, thankfully. It was not as advertised as the whole house is considered the guest house (where the owner also lives) and there are at least 4 rooms for rent. I am not likely to ever use Vrbo again because I would not trust the quality or cleanliness of their rentals. I was quite disappointed.

Great location but not as described

The house was well located with easy access to downtown Charlottetown. Ample parking for a car. Host was pleasant, place was clean. However, the space was not as described. The listing did not indicate that it is a shared space (shared bathroom, shared kitchen, shared entry). For the price of the room and associated fees, you would be better off renting a whole condo or a hotel room.
