Summary:
Tucked away in a tranquil bush location, White Tree Retreat is your perfect place to completely escape and forget the daily grind. All of your troubles will melt away as you relax on the deck or wander the grounds as the resident kangaroos peacefully graze the sweeping native gardens.
The Space:
This ground floor studio has everything you could possibly need to enjoy a relaxing South West sojourn, whether you fancy venturing out and about or would prefer just to hole up for a few days' escape. The well equipped kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, Breville pod coffee machine, stove top and oven, as well as the usual appliances. The combined kitchen/dining/living area is spacious and perfect for cooking, relaxing and eating together. The bedroom looks out onto the beautifully manicured native gardens, with a queen bed, ceiling fan and extra blankets for your comfort. The bathroom is en-suite with a bath, shower, vanity and WC. On chillier nights, kick back on the comfy sofa suite in front of the TV or enjoy some music on the Bose speakers. When the weather gets a little warmer, venture outside to enjoy the fragrant smells of the surrounding garden on your own private deck, with a barbecue and two seating options for dining or relaxing with nibbles and a glass of local wine.
The garden is a regular grazing spot for two kangaroos, who have practically become part of the family, and are affectionately named "Daisy" and "Joey" by the owners of this idyllic home.
Despite the bush surrounds, you are only a 7 minute drive from the powder-white sands of secluded Smiths Beach, a hidden gem nestled quietly between the busier shores of Yallingup beach and Bunker Bay. For the wine lovers out there, you are a short drive from some of the area's most iconic wineries, as well as some hidden gems that are well worth sniffing out. The perfect South West couples' escape.
Guest Access:
White Tree Retreat is attached to the owners' residence, and has been designed to give each their own entrance, space and privacy. The owners are extremely respectful of guest privacy at all times.
This property is not suitable for children, but please contact us to discuss if you would like to stay with an infant.
The Neighborhood:
The retreat is located on a stunning property tucked away in the peaceful bush of the Yallingup hills. Staying here, you can enjoy the tranquility of a rural location while still only being a short drive to some of the region's best beaches, wineries, restaurants and so much more.
The Margaret River Wine Region is one of the most prestigious winemaking areas in the world. Considered a “boutique” region, production is relatively small and quality-focused. The unique microclimates and fabulous soils here mean that producers are able to make some of the world’s best Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a host of other single varietal and blend wines; most wineries will have a good selection of options, including various sparkling wines, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz if the flagship varieties aren’t your cup of tea. Many of these wineries are also home to phenomenal restaurants, and your dining options will range from full tasting menus to casual pizzas or grazing boards. If you have any particular restaurant on your wish list, we strongly recommend booking ahead all year round. In peak summer season (December-February), bookings are essential and may need to be made several weeks or months in advance. Please contact us directly if you would like tailored recommendations for your self-guided winery and/or brewery tour. If you have time, we highly recommend buying a ticket onto one of the many locally operated winery and brewery tour buses, for an unforgettable day out of excellent food and drink.
Art lovers rejoice! Unsurprisingly, this region has long attracted talented artists of all kinds, and there are a number of wonderful galleries located nearby. If you are visiting during the region's annual Open Studios event, there will be even more home galleries open for visits, but year-round you can pop in to the following (all under a 5 minute drive away):
The Studio Gallery (& Bistro)
Gunyulgup Galleries
Yallingup Galleries
Lake House Gallery
It's not just about summer here, despite its popularity thanks to the glorious weather; all year round, even when we may be less blessed with warm days and sunny skies, visitors can enjoy hikes, biking, surfing, off-roading, horse riding, cave tours, water sports, fishing, wine and beer tasting, and generally eating and drinking one's way around the area! Visit in spring to catch the whale migration and wild flower season, or in autumn to enjoy quieter beaches and excellent surf.
Please see the Guidebook for our personal recommendations on where to eat, drink, shop and what to see & do in this fabulous region. This list is by no means exhaustive, however, so please get in touch if you need any pointers ahead of your stay.
