Clean and accommodating

Unit was as described and had everything we needed during our visit. Small hiccup was quickly addressed. Once the fog from hurricane Ian cleared, the view was amazing!

Amazing view!

We had a great time in the Sugar Mountain area. The resort was a great place to sleep, but there wasn’t anything to do on property except swim. If you have young kids, watch out! The neighbors are not friendly at all and will leave you notes about your horrible parenting skills. Also, cigarette smoke comes in through the vents, and we were slapped in the face with cigarette smell in the master bath/bedroom that we could not remove. Again, we slept well at the resort, but no one comes to the mountains to only sleep!

Sugar Top Football Weekend

Three day weekend at Sugar Top to attend the App State UNC football game and visit the region. Not very impressed with the condo that we rented. The kitchen was well stocked and the condo was clean. However I do not believe the furniture has been replaced since the 1980s when the units were purchased. Everything looked old and very worn. The television did not work and there was no seating on the balcony. We were grateful the owners left fans in each room since there was no air conditioning. To be honest and fair to the owners the whole resort is in need of a face lift. As a guest you must park below the resort and a rickety van will take you to the front door. Will I come back? No.

We stayed in June 2022 with four adults and two three year olds. We had a fantastic time. Checking in was a little confusing because the main lobby was under construction but we figured it out. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The view was phenomenal. The only thing we think the owners should add is a broom. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Spring vacation

It’s a gated community. Which made me feel safe. Very nice place to stay. It’s on the 10th floor and right near elevator. Has a heated pool and jacuzzi which was very nice because it rained on our stay here. The view was amazing when it wasn’t foggy. There is a washer and dryer on odd floor numbers 1.25 a washer or dryer. And the parking lots for non owners are down the hill with a shuttle to the building. You were allowed to unload at front door but then you had to park in the lots. Your linen and towels were provided. Our stay was fantastic and would stay again.

Life on the Mountaintop

Well equipped kitchen! Beautiful views! The security man at the gate was wonderful. A true public relations genius. Easy going, knowledgable, friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff…maybe not so much. I’d suggest that there could be a dustpan and broom in the unit just to keep up the maintenance, and, man, get rid of that joke of a toaster! A maintenance man had to knock on the door to see if we were okay from the smell of burning bread. Really, it’s a piece of junk! Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

Nice stay in the High Country

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sugar Top in this unit. We've stayed in many units over the years and can say that the updates completed in this one were done well. The pillows in the master bedroom were extremely flat and just uncomfortable. We would have enjoyed more/better pillows and a few more washcloths. Just our preferences/requests - not a complaint! The owner was great responding and providing information. The unit was nicely equipped overall and very clean upon arrival. We highly recommend!

Great location, amazing view, and everything was as expected!

My daughter and I went for a few days and enjoyed our stay very much. The property was located conveniently for so many things! The staff was friendly and helpful and the property owner was extremely helpful!

Top of the World

My family and I really enjoyed the property and location. The check-in process at gate was slightly confusing but after that all was well. Gorgeous vistas from everywhere. The staff was always willing to talk to anyone and told me about places that I would have missed onsite. The owner had a book with the history of the property which was also very nice. I thought the parking situation was going to be an issue, but the 24/7 shuttle was always right there when needed and provided another chance to ask questions about the area.

Everything we needed

Convenient, clean, comfortable and cozy. Plenty of space to gather with a great view and good access to Grandfather Mountain and surrounds. The property also has an indoor pool. Responsive host and easy instructions. We would stay again.

Not What I expected or wanted at all

Parking was atrocious. Had a handicap parking but could not park up at bldg even though spaces were available. The shuttle is not handicap appropriate. No washer/dryer access in unit as expected when I booked unit. Sugar Employees weren't friendly at all. Appliances in the unit did not work properly i.e. toaster and keurig. Internet went out and TV only had 3 channels.

Brief vacation

The staff are very friendly. It is a great location. The only recommendations are to have clean bedding and maybe consider a sitting area to enjoy the beautiful view. The bedding had a smell of fried food and stale cigarettes although no visible stains. The view was AMAZING but it would have been nice to sit and enjoy the natural beauty.

Overall Very Good

Well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, excellent views. Only thing missing was the ability to hang clothes in the bathrooms while taking shower and/or getting dressed.
