Spencer House - luxury character in Albany's heart

Spencer House is a beautiful character residence with ornate ceilings and 4 bedrooms sitting high with views to the Harbour and is only 500 metres to Albany’s historic town centre. This tastefully appointed home will make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. The front rooms and verandah overlook the Harbour and there is also a large entertaining area looking onto the rear garden. There are three main bedrooms in the house, a modern central bathroom and a smaller 4th bedroom with ensuite.

Fantastic Location as a base to explore Albany

This place had everything we needed to make the place our own and the location was superb! We could walk to cafes, bars and restaurants leaving the car at home. Even better, the shops were in walking distance so we didn't have to battle the Christmas crowds for parking. There were lots of different walks around too. Will definitely be a place to return to. Thank you!

Albany 10 day stay

Fabulous house right in the centre of town. Comfortable relaxing stay only 3 small possible improvements would be to upgrade the microwave. By a new Frying pan and address the shower head in the main bathroom. But all in all a lovely home and great stay in Albany.

Our view

Lovely house in a great location, we didn't pick up when booking that the second bathroom is an on suite to a bedroom off the back patio area which made it a bit isolated. That aside we loved it and would stay again.

Great getaway weekend among good friends - the house ticked all the boxes for the 6 of us. There was ample room, well-stocked kitchen with every conceivable utensil, large fridge, heating (and air-conditioning) in each room, living area and kitchen and a great outlook over King George Sound. York Street shops 5 mins walk away with cafes & restaurants. Ensuite room at the back of the home ensured total privacy and even the rooms within the house were generously large & spacious. And… great hot showers! Lots of street parking. Nothing like a hot coffee in the morning overlooking great views on the balcony as you watch the world go by! Definitely 5-star and hope we can stay again.

Spencer House

Spencer House is a home with lovely old bones - loved the original floor boards. It is well appointed with up to date amenities and is in a fantastic location. The main bedroom has the best view, especially when nursing a cold ! Super comfy bed and couches. Appreciated the gift of wine and a well stocked pantry, but can I suggest a couple of coffee pods wouldn't go astray? We arrived late into town, too late to shop, which meant my husband had to go out first thing so we could have our morning coffee. Also, there are some minor cleaning issues e.g. the oven needs a good clean, including the baking trays. Other than those minor things, we loved staying here.

The Happy Old Farts! ( Joke between us and The Landlord - Loyd)

After confirmation on line that we were 2 older couples, just happy Old Farts from Wollongong NSW, Loyd would have been relieved knowing no wild parties and that we would look after his beautiful place. The house was just wonderful, so well set out, so comfortable, in a great location, quite central to shops, restaurants, a great Historic Pub - The Earl of Spencer down the road, and all within 5-10 minutes walk. Loyd was a gentleman, so helpful, and just lots of fun to banter with. In summary I give it a 9.5 out of 10, ( would have given 10 if it was a bit more sunny! Ha Ha) Finally, I would highly recommend this beautiful place, and will definitely stay again next time we visit Albany. Thanks Loyd, great time. Cheers, Ezio Mattas.

Charming and well located with great view

Loved Spencer House. It was a great base for us to fall in love with Albany all over again. The kitchen and dining room worked well for dining in and the house was well located for walking to restaurants, and the garden provided two lovely views of the harbour and historical over our morning coffee. Recommended.

LOVELY HOUSE & GREAT LOCATION

This is a lovely property and the kitchen amenities are amazing for a holiday home. The property is well furnished and very comfortable. The 2 bedrooms in the main house are lovely - the front room is very grand :) The 3rd bedroom, is on what I suppose in times gone by would have been the verandah, is also very comfortable. The 4th bedroom which is really separate from the main house (just off the back verandah) is compact and would be more comfortable with a few tweaks like hanging space and heated towel rail. The back garden is really lovely and it was just a shame that the weather was not conducive to a backyard bbq (maybe next time). The owner, Lloyd, was very easy to deal with and was very accommodating. When we were there the bathroom could have done with a little scrub but I feel the owners had been let down by their cleaners on this occasion. But that did stop us from having a lovely time at this property. Maybe a 500 piece jigsaw would be better than a 1000 piece - but we did out best :)

Lovely accommodation

Gorgeous home with so much charm. Walking distance to town, quiet suburb, and wonderful views. The gardens just added to the beauty of the property. The well presented home comfortably accommodated 7 adults. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home. Lloyd was an excellent host, providing prompt and clear communication. Nothing was to much trouble. Would highly recommend.

I am a retired scientist happily married with three adult children. I have a passion for character homes, classic cars and for the Great Southern Region of WA, for the ocean, which I visit nearly every day and for Albany, which is the jewel in WA's crown.

We fell in love with this property as a place that exuded character and charm, had views across the Harbour and plenty of spaces to enjoy, depending on the weather and time of day. Not surprisingly, I have a soft spot for Federation homes, with generous rooms and high ceilings.

We spend so much time in our cars, so it's nice to stay in a property where everything can be reached on foot or bicycle, unless of course you're feeling a little more adventurous!
