Having rented properties previously, our group’s expectations were set based upon the rate being charged and our past experiences.
We are a group of eight professionals, we selected this location due to its size, the description, the reviews, and in particular the games room feature, which played a major role in our selection.
The kids wobbly pool table offered one broken ball (red solid was broken in half)and only one cue (the second cue broken). The foos ball table could not be played, because the ball was not the right one for the unit. The projector would be a nice feature, but no instructions how to use it! The bar top is not secure, just a slab of wood laying on top. While the space may be suitable for younger kids, it is not a space for adults in its present state. Saying that, this gamesroom acts as a storage area for paints and other solvents.
The kitchen amenities were definitely lacking and we felt disappointed given the cost of our stay:
High end properties should have high-end appliances. However it offered an ancient coffee maker that made 4 cups, insufficient utensils, old cookware, including only one thin damaged unusable fry pans. An oven that wasn’t working properly. A dishwasher with a cutlery basket that was broken.
Only one tea towel and no dish cloth for 8 people for 4 days.
We also feel given the price we would find a clean finished space, not a property in the midst of repairs and headboards so dusty a previous guest wrote “dust me“ on it.
From a health and safety aspect, we noted a lack of co2 and smoke detectors, inside each sleeping area.
While the property has a great deal of potential, the owner should consult an interior designer or home-staging professional to help the physical space live up to its potential as a “paradise” retreat.
We suggest a printed information package with details about local attractions (seasonal) and additional information about the property itself, including a binder with user guides to technology available.
Please keep in mind that renting this space in the off-season meant that our emphasis was on the interior space, rather than the outdoor space, which is probably pretty spectacular during the height of vacation season.
We sent an email to the owner after our stay. Instead of addressing our concerns, he just dismissed them. He did ask for a pictures which we provided, but he never responded back.
Look around folks, not worth the price in off-season!
