Private and Relaxing

Our whole family enjoyed our stay at this home. The area was very private, quiet and relaxing. We were able to spend time both inside and outside around the firepit, BBQing, playing games, etc. Overall a fun weekend of making memories with our family.

Grammas funeral

We had family come from all over to celebrate the passing of our gramma. The house was perfect. 14 of us. 10 adults 4 children. Plenty of beds. The best part was the fire pit, which the owners prepared for us and was ready to go! We loved being able to all be together under one roof!! Cooking meals and the kithcen was supplied well. Would definitely recommend families to experience this wonderful home!!

Wonderful home

We were a group of parents and teens running a Spartan Race in Newberry. We wanted a place that all of use could stay together. It was an easy drive to Newberry from the house and we were fine with driving an hr each way. House was very clean. Host is very responsive to messages. The # of bedrooms/beds was great. The owner also provided us with a great recommendation for a pizza place in town that everyone loved! Would highly recommend this house and would stay there again if the opportunity arouse.

Big Family vacation

This is a beautiful home. We had 13 people on our vacation ages 50 to 7 years old and we all fit perfectly. Enjoying our mornings on the porch was beautiful. This is an older home so there were some cracks and scratches around. All appliances worked and the kitchen was fully stocked. We were surprised how deep in the woods we were but us city people really loved exploring the woods around the house. Our kids had so much fun gathering sticks and pine needles for our evening fires. We will definitely come back but for now we made great family memories.

Soaring Competition

We found the house was clean and as advertised. The kitchen is well equipped but an electric kettle would be a nice addition. Modern laundry appliances. The WiFi and internet connection worked great (fast). The door lock is operated by a physical key (we only had one available) which is problematic if there is more than one party. A code lock would be a significant improvement. The host requires a copy of the renter’s drivers licence by email. If this is a problem for you, better discuss with the host before you make any payments

Rented this property to be close to friends in the area! Very clean and everything we needed was provided! Great and quick communication with property owner and he gave us very thorough instructions on getting to the property! Will definitely rent again!

Not as advertised, bugs & Bed Bugs, warn down,

Yes, house is secluded, in quiet area and looked clean upon arrival, but…. List 10 beds, upon arrival only 8 bed available that only sleep 10. We had 12 guest and paid for 12 guests. I was not given any notice prior to arrival, even when we had been communicating prior to arriving. Even when I added an additional guest, the day before arriving, he never told us until I contacted him after arriving, then I was told that the previous guest broke 2 beds, so they were removed, but the cushions for both futons were in the closets and could be used. Upon looking at them, they were not clean. So, we had to obtain an air mattress for our family. Picture show well maintained outside home and yard and landscaping, 10 acres with river for fishing and paths that are accessible. This is not the case. Very limited area to utilize of yard and the area had beer bottle caps everywhere, irrigation lines above ground and laying around, and fire ants everywhere, outside chairs not cleaned from previous guest. Firepit overgrown and could not be used. Front porch had peeling paint and multiple wasp nest. 2 park style charcoal grills, 1 is in ok working condition, the other is all rusted and not usable. Pictures compared to actual situation about multiple years difference and not kept up. Multiple guests started showing bug bites and we found after the 2nd night, that there were many bed bugs all through the bedroom on first floor. When I reached out to the owner, no response to work to correct or compensate, even after sending pictures. So instead of coming home and unpacking, we all had to wash everything before we could bring it in our house, clean cars, and everything we had with us plus medicine for our family that were bit. If this was a hotel, I would be demanding our money back, but since the owner will not communicate with us, to make right, I want to share our experience. I even reached out to VRBO “Stay Neighborly” and received no response back from VRBO or the owner. ☹☹

The Perfect Home Base for a Weekend with Friends

Our group (5 adults) had a wonderful time staying at this house for a weekend. The home was exactly as described - cozy and clean, with more than enough space for everyone. One of the beds had a broken slat in the box spring but the hostess said that would be taken care of. Check-in was easy and our stay was comfortable. The hostess is very responsive to any questions/concerns. This property was about a 40 minute drive from Columbia, but it was worth it to us to be able to stay in one place with friends we don't get to see very often. We all agreed that this home was a great find for our last-minute plans.

It was good for the most part. I’m glad we only had 7 people. The house advertises up to 20. But no way more than 10 would be comfortable. The bottom step was VERY rotten and I slipped. Thankfully I did not fall. The living area sure needed some comfortable chairs. Even though there were a lot of them. The outside side needs a lot of attention. Dirty and mildew everywhere. The inside for the most part was clean. We did see a web in the kitchen. Best part it was close to the venue for the wedding.

Overall experience

I loved this property and so did my group. We had a great time. The area was perfect for what we were trying to achieve with no wanting a noise complaint while we celebrated my 22nd birthday. Yes it was far from some necessities but we were all familiar with the Aiken area so we didn’t mind traveling there for items. The home was cleaned and provided everything we needed.

Peaceful and Secluded

The property is exactly as listed and accommodated our group very well. There was ample room and the home is very comfortable. The owner is attentive to details and clearly lays out expectations. It was too hot to enjoy outdoor activities much, but the picnic table and outdoor grill is a nice touch. Also, the front porch with gliders was nice for peaceful, country evening porch-sitting. Neighbors are few, but there were a couple of farm dogs who escorted us out when we left. Highly recommended if you're looking for some peace and quiet, but easy access. We also made the 25 minute trek to the world famous Shealy's BBQ for dinner one evening. Good southern comfort food.

Beware of extortion

Please carefully consider before booking at this property, the owners basically committed extortion and charged us nearly double for "event fees" and would not let us adjust the guest count, forcing us to pay way over what we should have-that alone nearly ruined the entire trip for us, it was an event I planned from Germany while on active duty and wanting to book a place that only my immediate family would stay at and we could visit each other after I had been overseas for about three years. Also the property was an older farmhouse with tons of issues, damage, and wear and tear. It was fine for our needs but they acted like we were moving into a five-star hotel and after we left told us they may send us an invoice for damages. Knowing what kind of people we were dealing with we video recorded every bit of damage on the property that was already there when we arrived-and a good thing too, there was a lot of broken appliances, mirrors broken and dirty floors and carpet. Communication with the owners was absolutely wrenched and they nearly destroyed the experience. If they did not extort us, and didn’t continually try to scrap and claw for more money at every turn we would have given it a 10/10 star rating.

Peaceful getaway far out

This is a good place to stay if you have young kids. It’s a lived in home. A yard to run around in and a river to fish in nearby (hard to get to though). The distance to anything is 30 minutes plus however the surrounding country is beautiful to behold. Good communication from owner with clear expectations.

Beautiful, 2 story, 4 bed, 3 bath home nestled on a large, rustic 10.5 acre estate. This is country living at its finest with plenty of room for a large family or for entertaining. Though surrounded by nature, you are convenient to shopping, with easy access to interstate 20 as well as Hwy 39 and 178. Centrally located between Columbia, SC and Augusta, GA with a short drive to each. Ideal lodging for the Masters Golf Tournament.
