This is a spacious apartment in an old, maze-like part of Monchique. The apartment is hard to find, as is parking the first time, but once you figure out the maze, you appreciate Monchique all the more. The neighbors across the street who greet you are wonderful people, and despite their not speaking English, everything is pretty well communicated.
We enjoyed Monchique's access to hiking trails (the Via Algarviana runs through Monchique, and the hike up to Foia is worth all the effort, and up to Picota even more so) and its overall character. The apartment is in a lovely quiet part of town (save one dog who may bark until its person comes home). The bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen is simply but adequately equipped. We cooked in successfully.
If you want to be in a quiet part of the Algarve, away from the tourists, traffic, and crowds, this is a great choice.
