Wunderschöner Strand mit spektakulärem Blick auf Guana Cay und das Meer. Auf der Veranda mit Blick auf das Meer können Sie schwimmen oder entspannen. Unsere 1-Zimmer-Wohnung hat einen eigenen Eingang und eine Veranda an der Vorder- und Rückseite. Unsere moderne Wohnung ist komplett ausgestattet mit einem Kühlschrank in Wohnungsgröße, Herd, Mikrowelle, Toaster, Kaffeemaschine und allen anderen Grundnahrungsmitteln. Das Schlafzimmer besteht aus einem Doppelbett, begehbarem Kleiderschrank mit Kommode, Deckenventilator und Klimaanlage mit individueller Temperaturregelung. Der Wohnbereich verfügt über einen Flachbildfernseher und eine bequeme Couch, die in ein Schlafsofa umgewandelt werden kann. Es hat auch einen Deckenventilator und eine temperaturgesteuerte Klimaanlage. Das Badezimmer ist mit Badewanne, Dusche, Toilette und Handwaschbecken ausgestattet. Es gibt einen Tisch mit Stühlen für Mahlzeiten im Innenbereich und einen Tisch und Stühle auf der hinteren Veranda zum Entspannen und Essen, während Sie den Blick auf den Strand genießen. In the appartment we found everything we need. Betty and Oswald are great hosts and warm-heated people like the rest of their family. We enjoyed talking to them. The ocean was amazing, the water warm and clear and nearly noone at the beach. In the next house the family has the Lighthouse Café. We enjoyed when we had dinner there. Thank you!

Holiday in Paradise

I cannot recommend (Name) high enough. The accommodation is in a quiet and secluded area away from the city and the big hotel complexes. Right outside the back door is the most beautiful white sandy beach with perfect turquoise water and we basically had this beach completely to ourselves, only very occasionally bumping into other tourists there. The Nixon family were the loveliest and most welcoming hosts. They are extremely friendly and genuinely cared about our well-being, without ever making us feel pressured or intruded upon in any way. They made us feel like highly valued neighbours, almost like a part of their family. The flat is ideal for 2-3 people (a couple or parents with a child). It might not be as luxurious as the big hotels nearby, but if it offers everything that one could possibly need for a comfortable stay. If you are looking to spend your holiday not just in another interchangeable hotel complex among hundreds of other tourists, but in your own holiday home where you actually get the chance to meet local people and emerge yourself in the life on the Bahamas, this is the perfect place for you. Not far from the accommodation, you can find a beach bar that offers lunch, dinner, and drink, as well as the Light House (also owned by the Nixon family!) which was our go-to place for delicious snacks and exceptionally great ice cream. There are also many nice breakfast/ brunch places close by. Top tip: I can really recommend hiring a car, to explore the island, as well as to buy groceries. A smaller supermarket is just a 5-minute drive away, while George Town (25-30-minute drive) offers more options and is also the starting point for many day tours. This is an absolute hidden gem for anyone who's ever dreamed for owning their own little house in paradise, complete with the picturesque Caribbean beach as your back yard - even if it's just for a few days or weeks... A very well-earned 5 stars!!

Great hosts, we really felt at home and location was fantastic.

Our Bahamas journey had an excellent start as Betty picked us up from the airport, offered us great advice, kindly went to buy some groceries with us and conveniently got us a rental car. We enjoyed our stay at the well resourced apartment a lot and were in awe of the private beach just out of the door that we had to ourselves. It was the perfect place to explore the island (by car) and for our trip to the swimming pigs. The whole Nixon family was very welcoming and helpful to us at all times. The children are so polite and fun to have around and their mom took great care of our medical issues even late at night. Also, the food at their lighthouse diner next to the apartment is a must! Thank you so much, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back asap. All the best from Germany! Highly recommended.

Urlaub im Paradies

Wir haben im Januar 2017 acht Tage in der Ferienwohnung von Betty und Oswald Nixon verbracht. Vom ersten Moment an, als die Nixons uns am Flughafen abgeholt und herzlich begrüßt haben, hatten wir das Gefühl, die absolut richtige Entscheidung getroffen zu haben. Dieses Gefühl wurde nur bestätigt. Das Apartment ist im Haus der Nixons gelegen und entspricht exakt der Beschreibung. Es ist alles da was man braucht und vorallem steht man direkt mit den Füßen im Sand wenn man die Tür zur Veranda auf macht. Der Blick auf den Strand und das kristallklare Wasser ist einfach atemberaubend und nachts hört man das Meer. Wir fanden es wunderschön. Der Standard ist gut, nicht ganz neu aber mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Es gibt ausreichend Handtücher. Zusammen mit Betty und Oswald wohnen im Haus noch zwei ihrer Töchter, ihr Schwiegersohn und drei Enkelkinder. Wir hatten mir allen ein tolles Verhältnis und die drei kleinen Jungs versprühen gute Laune! Die gesamte Familie Nixon war stets bemüht uns einen unvergesslichen Urlaub zu bescheren. Highlights: Unser gemeinsames Abendessen bei den Nixons am ersten Tag, "Insider"-Fischeeinkauf im Nagelstudio ;-), selbst zubereitetes Conch Dinner, das Dank Bettys spontaner Unterstützung auch gelang und frische Kokosnüsse aus dem Garten von Oswald. Das Haus liegt am Ende der ca 1,5 km Pirates Bay - ein traumhafter Sandstrand den man fast immer für sich allein hat und der bei Ebbe zum spazieren gehen geradezu einlädt. Wichtig ist zu wissen, dass einem bei Windstille Sandfliegen zu Leibe rücken. Dies ist der puren Natur geschuldet und der "fehlenden Luftverschmutzung" auf Exuma. Aber an den meisten Tagen herrscht eine angenehme Brise und die Mini-Mücken kommen nicht raus. Ggf. hilft aber ein Mücken Spray oder Babyöl. Ein tolles Erlebnis war die Halbtägige private Bootstour welche die Nixons für uns organisiert haben. So war es uns auch mit unserem Baby möglich die Iguanas uns die schwimmenden Schweine zu sehen. Insgesamt hatten wir unvergessliche Tage auf Exuma und können jedem der Lust auf ursprünglichen Urlaub mit direktem Kontakt zu den Bahamians hat, die Wohnung der Nixons besten Gewissens empfehlen. Wer nicht oder selten kochen möchte kann sich nebenan im Lighthouse Café von Marco, dem Schwiegersohn, bekochen lassen. Einfach aber richtig lecker!! Tipp für Allergiker: Es gibt zwei Katzen und einen Hund die auf dem Grundstück leben, aber nicht in die Wohnung kommen - aber bis an die Tür und auf die Terrasse.

Happy who can be there!

The hospitality of the Nixon family is extraordinary. Not only that they shuttled us from and to the airport, cooked for us and had taken care we had everything needed already there, when we arrived. These beautiful and authentic people never hesitated to help us with anything we came to ask for (or had not even to ask for) and opened every door for us. Since they know literally everyone on the Island, they made sure we got the best quality deals (trips, car rental etc.). Even when we had issues regarding our return flight, they took well care of it and so everything worked out fine. Each family member was a heartwarming pleasure to meet and we enjoyed every encounter so much. The house itself is cozy and tastefully furnished with love for the details and has the most amazing ocean view. Right in front is a perfect beach to do a morning swim or have endless walks. The family owned a restaurant next door that serves delicious food for decent prices. So we could just stay there, relax and enjoy this quiet and gorgeous place on earth. If you want to experience the real Bahamas from their best side, this is the place to be. We are already looking forward to come back!

Perfect location in paradise

My husband & I stayed at Betty and Oswald’s for 2 weeks. Its perfect for 2 people. Queen bed was comfortable, a large closet with rod to hang clothes and a dresser. Abundant supply of towels including beach towels. We stayed for 2 weeks Betty asked if we would like fresh towels for the 2nd week. They were promptly delivered by relatives since she was out of the country. Back door opens onto covered porch overlooking the ocean where we ate breakfast every day. Beautiful backyard with coconut trees and sitting areas including lounge chairs. Steps go down to a beautiful beach.There’s an outside shower but feet will get sandy as there’s no path to the porch.. Communication with Betty was great! It was important to my husband to watch the super bowl. Betty found a nearby bar having a Super Bowl party with great food & drinks. Family restaurant next door is closed but found plenty of places to eat & cooked in as well. Kitchen is small & challenging with lack of counter space but gas stove worked well. There is a toaster, microwave ,single cup Keurig & small table but usually ate outside except in the eve when the bugs are bad. Location is perfect, close to Cocoplum beach & easy access to island if you rent a car. A/C in both rooms works great, ceiling fans too. A raft,cooler and chairs for beach were great! Suggestions would be cushions for the lounge chairs outside- too hard for us old people and kitchen chairs with backs. Can’t wait to come back for another stay.

Perfect getaway right on the beach!

We absolutely loved this place! It was nice and quiet, had our own beach on a beautiful bay. We saw a couple of sea turtles and lots of puppies running around. The hosts were great, jasmine made sure to check in with us and make sure we were settled. Ill definitely be looking to book here again!

I'm sorry but that house was not supposed to be rented to anyone, dirty teeth and terrible humidity, I had to go to rent in Augusta Bay the same afternoon, there was no way to sleep, I think its owners had been passing by there for a long time, because to rent you have to have good conditions and more so in these times when everything is so expensive and one makes sacrifices to walk around and relax, I did not like the rental house at all, I give it a zero

We enjoyed our stay here. It was quiet and the backyard was wonderful with only just steps to the beach which was always empty. Have seen several sea turtles while watching from back yard and snorkeling. Lots of shade and palm trees in back yard. The host and family were very nice and checking on us. The apartment is small but expected it. The A/C worked excellent. The only thing I did not like was the bed that was not very comfortable and the small love seat couch. I don’t think anything bigger could fit in this little apartment. But overall I would stay here again! It’s like having your own little paradise in your backyard!

Week in Paradise!

We just returned from our 5 night stay at the Nixon’s home and we felt like we had our own private cove of paradise to ourselves and it was heaven! Just exactly what we needed from our everyday lives! We could step outside everyday to a beautiful beach paradise and that’s all we needed. The home is small but we expected that and it was perfect for us, and would be for any couple or one with an infant. The kitchen had everything we needed, but we only made coffee twice and ate out to try the local cuisine. They provide everything you need and more, which is so wonderful! The ac unit in the bedroom was old and not working properly but the owner contacted us and was going to fix it during our stay but we declined as it was not a nuisance being from warmer weather. Book this place, we would definitely return again, we looked our little cove!!

Great beach location

We did not stay, but the property manager did her best to fix the problem-which was a big deal. The air conditioner was not cooling properly and unfortunately it was very hot. I have severe asthma which immediately started giving me issues. They worked on it for quite sometime-it was late into the evening which made it almost impossible to find a nice place to relocate to with lots of food/ice etc late at night-it was unfortunate. We would not rent this home again, it was tiny-child size couch in the living area. There were bugs in the dishes and the mosquitoes outside were unbelievable—I had 28 bites on my legs from just a brief walk outdoors, pest control is needed. They did refund most of the cost but it should have been 100%, lesson learned. We will return to other places we’ve stayed at Exuma-there are great options all over the island.

Fantastic snorkeling backyard beach

You cannot beat the backyard access to the amazing almost empty beach, literally a few steps away. The owners are really nice people and the place very quiet. Exuma people are quite welcoming in general. My only problem was being badly bitten by mosquitos and related bugs, but that had nothing to do with the property itself.

Perfectly on the beach

My husband and I have vacationed in Exuma a few times and we’re lucky to book this place for our most recent 5 night stay. The back door to this private apartment literally opens to a yard with tables/chairs overlooking the beach (with steps access). The beach is clean and perfect for a swim. The photos are representative of this clean place and it is plenty space for two adults (and perhaps a child). Amenities provided were helpful, including foldable camping like chairs you can put in your rental car for use at other beaches and even a cooler. The only minor thing is I’d prefer the kitchen table to have chairs with a back versus stool like. That’s it! We even cozied up on the two seater couch one night and watched Netflix during a brief rain. I’d certainly book again!! Thank you for the hospitality!

Your own beautiful beach outside of your back door

Just stayed a wonderful week at this amazing property. Rented a car from Thompson-Honda fit ($330) for the week. That is all you need. You don’t need a Jeep. Trust me. We went every place on the island you can go and it was fine. Only used 1/4 tank the whole week and we were gone everyday. The Nixon house is perfect for a getaway. Wonderful beach and water just outside of the back of the house. The Bach yard has plenty of palm trees, which you don’t see many of on the island like other places so this was a huge plus. All amenities were what was needed. All I can say is go and enjoy yourself and enjoy the serenity. Wonderful hosts and prayers for all healing.

Humble, quaint, and quiet

These 3 words best describes our stay. Everything is as the pictures show and, while not over the top fancy, it is just perfect. Communication with the hosts, Oswald and Betty, was prompt, curious and so helpful. Directions from the airport to their home was precise and very easy to follow. Being able to walk in the front door and walk directly out the back door to the Caribbean Sea was incredible. The front and back porch are perfect for your morning coffee and there are plenty of chairs in the backyard for sitting and watching the sea. We were looking for a place where we could be alone without the crowds and we found it! It was wonderful!

This property was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I thought it was perfect for us. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting by the water side enjoying that beautiful turquoise water. The size of the apartment was perfect for us, we were quite comfortable. Walking the beach was great enjoyment. Tanya and Marco were very nice and were certainly knowledgeable about the area. They made us a meal of original Bahamian Food. That was tasty! Good food. Good people. We hope to go back to this exact location some day. Absolutely one of the most beautiful places on earth. Thank you for everything!

Island retreat

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We had an amazing time! Everything you need is within walking distance. Restaurants, bars, convenience and liquor stores. We stopped for groceries on our way into town and that was great! We saw three sea turtles each morning to the left of the unit in the water. They had a kayak that I took out as well. We also did excursions. Betty and Ozzie were amazing hosts. We spent a lot of time chatting and connecting with their family. Betty made us a delicious Bahamian dinner one night. Their son in law runs the lighthouse cafe next door and they had tasty food as well. Ozzie cut open and taught us about coconuts too. There was a little lizard and dogs that would visit us each day as well. It was a quiet stay with only a handful of people on the beach each day. This is a quiet place and not the place to be if you’re looking for clubs, parties, or night life. It was perfect for us and I hope we will be able to visit again. My name is Oswald Nixon and James Roselyn Vacation Rentals is named in memory of my late parents James and Roselyn Nixon. I am the third son of that union. During the sixties I left Steventon Exuma and went to Nassau to work in the construction industry for many years. Later, I entered the hospitalisty industry as a taxicab driver for over 18 years. During that time I served as the President of The Bahamas Taxi-Cab Union for 12 years. I met and married my beautiful wife Betty Nixon who is currently a retired Primary School teacher. Our union was blessed with six children. After my retirement I returned to my birthplace, Steventon Exuma and later built my home and decided to rent a portion of it as a vacation rental.

Once you have been in the hospitalisty industry it is difficult to really say goodbye. Therefore, I say 'Welcome to you my guest!'.
