Erdgeschoss - stattliches Esszimmer mit Tisch für 14 Personen bequem. Es gibt ein offenes Feuer im Esszimmer, aber leider machen Probleme mit dem Schornstein es im Moment unbrauchbar. Es gibt andere Heizquellen, einschließlich Speicherheizungen in jedem Raum. Massive Küche mit AGA-Herd, Geschirrspüler, Waschmaschine, Trockner und Sitzgelegenheiten für 8 Personen.

Erster Stock - elegantes Wohnzimmer mit 160-Grad-Meerblick von Annet im Westen bis St. Martins im Nordosten mit spektakulären Sonnenuntergängen von März bis Oktober. Doppelzimmer mit eigenem Bad und zusätzlichem Einzelzimmer. Kohlefeuer im Obergeschoss sitzt derzeit mit elektrischer Alternative nach Problemen mit dem Schornstein ersetzt.

Zweiter Stock - zwei helle und geräumige Zweibettzimmer mit Dachfenstern an der Nord- und Südseite (Kapazität für ein drittes Bett in einem). Badezimmer mit separatem WC.

Es gibt eine umfangreiche Bibliothek mit Publikationen zu Naturgeschichte, Archäologie, Kunst und scillionianischem Interesse.

Es gibt einen privaten Garten in einer ehemaligen Kanonenbatterie mit Grill und einfachem Zugang zum felsigen Küstenvorland.

WiFi, elektrische Heizung und Bettwäsche sind im Preis inbegriffen. Das WiFi ist jedoch lückenhaft und funktioniert am besten im Speisesaal.

Leider können wir keine Familien mit Hunden aufnehmen.

Newmans is fabulous. V unique and quirky. perhaps not for everyone because part of its charm is that it does not conform to a boring typical holiday let but who wants boring? this place is magic. We love love love it.

Simply amazing

Its a large house that still feels cosy, with lots of room for the whole family. The location is stunning, you can hear and see the sea and watch the boats come in to the quay. Was everything we wanted, the Everhot oven was a steep learning curve though!

Perfect location

We stayed at Newman house with an extended family group and it was magical. The location is unique with a garden that includes an ideal spot for wave watching. There is so much space in the property with books and games galore. Our favourite room was the 1st floor lounge and its 4 window seats all providing a different view. It is probably 10 years since I was last staying at this property. It is lost none of its magic and charm and Indeed has been upgraded in many ways It is in a great position, located close to the town, but it also far enough away. The views are wonderful. We were seven in the party but there was plenty of space. The caretaker who lives close by, could not have been more helpful.

Wonderful spot

A really special house in an amazing location. Wonderful sea views and a great location for exploring the islands as so close to the quay. The house is kitted out really well with everything you might need, the pictures are a bit outdated as they don’t do it justice, the house looks to have been given an update recently with new furniture and carpets. It really is a brilliant place, would highly recommend and Cynthia is a very responsive host. Thanks for having us!

Idyllic location

Stunning location. We all loved the house - like stepping back in time, full of interesting bits and bobs. Particularly liked sitting at the windows with unbeatable views, playing croquet, bbqs in the garden, and the record player and old records! Might not suit everyone with only one loo on top floor, plus one in the en suite.

Beautiful old house with a fabulous view . Tired inside , kitchen well equipped , lovely comfortable lounge and comfortable double bedroom. A Dream Location for Scilly Exploring

This house was ideal as a base to explore the scilly isles. We are very familiar with the islands and have previously stayed on Tresco and St Martins. The house was comfortable, well organised and equipped. Its location is stunning and very convenient for the Quay. This property is historic and has some of the problems that being old and next to the sea brings with some damp marks on the walls etc. This didn’t worry our group at all. It is obviously a well loved, lived in property. The kitchen has every item you would require to cook properly. The garden has access to a rocky outcrop to watch sunset. We had the most amazing week.

Not disappointed!

Lovely large old house, lots of character, perfect position on water's edge very near all amenities. Michael, housekeeper, very helpful - enabled us to have a lovely fire in the evenings. Only challenge was the Aga, but we adapted! Great find!

A wonderful week in a remarkable property

Newman House is such a special historic property and it was an absolute privilege to stay for a week. The photographs do not do justice to the accommodation which is spacious and full of interesting furniture, artifacts and books. Exceptionally well equipped with everything we needed. The location and views cannot be beaten on St Mary's with stunning views and easy access to the quay, shops and beach. Unique

Newman House is quite famous on St. Mary's. It has large rooms, ideal for family use. The property is quite unique in its character with old style furniture and a large table in both the kitchen and the dining room. There is an Aga in the kitchen which makes it very snug. There is an en suite on the first floor and a bathroom and separate toilet on the second floor. Three of the bedrooms are very large and the fourth is a single room with washbasin. The children loved the garden area and the private path to the rocks by the sea. The views from the property are wonderful. It is our second visit to Newman House, which speaks volumes. Be prepared to step back in time and enjoy what this property has to offer.

Charming property in superb location

Whilst staying at Newman House we were blown away by the charming character of the property and the history surrounding it. It is in an excellent location, just a short walk into Hugh town and easy access to the quay; handy if you want to explore the other islands whilst on your stay. We enjoyed daily walks around the Garrison, loved having access to Newman’s battery (for BBQs and croquet) and every evening saw a spectacular sunset from the house. Cannot recommend this property highly enough - I think it is perfectly situated for you to get the absolute best out of your stay on St Mary’s. We definitely hope to return!

The house is very spacious and affords marvellous views over the sea and across to the outer islands. Some of the furnishings need renovating/updating and housekeeper details corrected.
