Excellent location in proximity to Spire, restaurant and stores. The house was very nicely finished and provided a great place to relax and prepare our own meals. Very quiet neighborhood.

Magical

I hesitate to write this review because I actually don’t want anybody else to know about this amazing magical little bungalow.I went in February to go to my sons Swim Meet at Spire sports facility. I really just needed a place to lay my head for a few days in between going to watch swimming. As luck would have it I stumbled upon Esmeralda's. And when I walked in, I met Jan.. I was immediately taken by her peaceful nature, her kindness and the way she made me feel at ease as a solo traveler this past weekend.. upon entering her bungalow. It was instantly clear that I had stepped into a magical little house. It had everything I needed extremely clean and a step back in time to when little details mattered. I plan to go there many more times and even though there are things I didn’t see in Ohio sitting in her little cottage/bungalow was a kind of peace that our busy days don’t allow for. Thank you, Jan. I will be back and it was so nice to meet you.

We went in October experiencing beautiful fall colors all through the woods at the back of this property. There are trails to meander, a swing in a wine shed, stocked with candles, wood for the fire pit. So have fun bringing your own wine (or marshmallows) The house itself is absolutely charming. Very nostalgic with a beautifully updated 1920 something feel, AND with all the amenities we have grown to need - fully equipped kitchen, great selection of books, games and even art supplies. Five stars for sure!

Perfect Get-away

Ezmarelda's was a perfect spot for a 2 night stay as we transitioned to being empty-nesters. The house itself is charming and though small, had every single thing we could have come up with needing. The treasure for us is the outside, especially the wine shed overlooking three acres of beautifully landscaped woods that visitors can explore. Jan, the owner, is a delight and not only is extremely responsive, she anticipated what we needed. All of her recommendations for local attractions were spot on. We can't wait to come back.

Ohio weekend

I stayed at this location while my daughter was spending a weekend at Spire Institute. The place was phenomenal. Absolutely gorgeous and relaxing. So many minor details throughout. Lot of history within this bungalow and the views around the gardens and sheds are breathtaking. Close enough to walk to restaurants. Jan and Joe were wonderful hosts! Will stay here again!

An Oasis for Nature/ Outdoor Enthusiasts

A Gem of a cottage , very welcoming front porch and purple door- my fav! We had a walk around with the owner.Jan when we first arrived. She showed us around and gave us a tour. All the amenities were included and that was a perk! The whole place was so very clean, I do not take cleanliness lightly, so this was so refreshing. ( My standards are high- and this home met them all!) Kitchen appliances, cookware, silverware/ dishware were perfect. I have stayed in many VRBO’s and finding utensils to cook is usually a challenge. Not here!!I felt so at home. Jan has made a creative , light filled aura with vintage/ antique and artwork pieces throughout the comfy space.

Our 30th anniversary

We stayed here for our 30th anniversary and boy am I glad that we did! The property is stunning. So relaxing, I felt right an ease. Everything you may need, Jan has supplied it and more. The first night I had a soak in the claw foot bath tub. So relaxing! Jan had all the soaking supplies you would need and more. I spent every morning at the outside table with coffee in hand watching the birds and looking at beautifully landscaped yard. The basement is a parents and kids dream. All kinds of neat things to do including panting Now.. for the wine shack. My FAVORITE place to be. Jan supplied fire wood, candles and just an awesome, relaxing place to sit and take in the beautiful woods.and fire. I hope to post pictures. On the evening of our anniversary. Jan had cut fliers from her garden he the wine sack and made sure there plenty of candles. Not to mention bug spray. Just in case. There was a storm one night and there was many options on the tv to watch a movie. I went directly to Netflix The only other app I used was pandora. But it’s all there at your finger tips. Jan is awesome and she has created a beautiful relaxing place to just get away from everything and just enjoy the beauty of nature

Ezmerlda's is a beautiful home and property, including a garden shed, wine shack, firepit, trails, etc. Jan & Joe are wonderful hosts and made everything easy and relaxed. Single Dad Stay with Daughter at Spire

My 14 year old daughter had a week long soccer camp at Spire and I needed a place to stay. I brought my bike from Montana and spent the week biking and birding. Ezmeralda's was perfect! I got a couple of life birds right in the very bird friendly yard, and enjoyed the peace of the extensive in town treed property. I grilled out and enjoyed the nearby wineries. The host Jan knew my interests from my reservation and had already done research for me that made my stay even better! All this and only 5 minutes from Spire! I would give 6 stars if I could. If my daughter wants to return to Spire I look forward to staying at Ezmeralda's again! Thank you Jan!

Magical place

Walking into Ezmerelda's was like stepping into a fairy tale. Jan was super acommodating and made suggestions to local shops and restaurants that we really enjoyed. The house has so many small details that made our stay comfortable. yet the decor was so artsy, we felt as if we were in a storybook cottage! This VRBO also has an outdoor setting with two lovely areas to relax and or take a stroll. We will definitely stay here again!

The best getaway

40th anniversary, perfect getaway. House was so clean, could eat off the floor! So many beautiful details in the house. Yard was spectacular! We had a fire in wine shed, beautiful evening, wine fire and music, life is good. Jan was amazing, we needed nothing, all was in that house. Always a joy!

I've been to Ezmerelda's 3 times now and love it more each time! It's my "go to" place for time away with my best friend or boyfriend. A fire at the wine shack soothes my soul. I love watching the birds at the feeders and seeing all the wonderful plants bloom. Jan, the hostess, is a steward of wildlife and plant propagation and the gardens are simply beautiful. Lots of little restaurants, wineries, and antique shops nearby.

Enchanting, Eclectic Ezmerelda's!

I love it! My second stay was as wonderful as the first. Jan is a warm, wonderful host. Equipped above and beyond the basics, to include puzzles and boardgames, essentials for a soak in the claw-foot tub, quality linens, and even art supplies! Already booked my 3rd visit for a weekend getaway...

Charming Esmeralda

This house was so cute and clean and full of character. My daughter and I visited Geneva for a state sporting competition at the Spire. The house was situated close to everything we needed. Jan took such good care of us, it was as if she was an old friend. The house was well beyond expectations and wished I could have enjoyed it on a longer stay. Maybe next time!

Immaculate Bungalow

Ezmeralda's is an immaculate, beautifully maintained and super clean property. The decor is so charming! Jan is a wonderful host who checked to see if everything was ok and to see if I needed anything during my stay. The bungalow is well supplied and has everything you could need including internet, plenty of plugs, mirrors, games, blankets, kitchen supplies and bathroom amenities. The backyard is large with lovely landscaping and lighting. The Wine Shed is a must see/use with candles, firewood, comfortable seating and a serene wooded view. Be sure to check out all the owner photos to see everything the property offers. Highly recommend!!

Amazing every time!

Ezmeralda's never disappoints! This is our third stay here. The place is charming, spotlessly clean, and so comfortable. We always feel so at-home here. Jan is a perfect host, and she's thought of everything. Can't wait to stay again!

My hometown is Latrobe, Pennsylvania. I moved to this area in 1980 with the intent of staying a few years and here it is, I am still here. I am at my best being outdoors no matter what the weather may be. I purchased this 1920's bungalow in 2010. It was due for demolition with the city. I purchased this property with the same intent, demo and simply expand the footage of my yard. Once inside and exploring, the foundation was solid. My plans for demo changed to renovation. The renovation became a labor of love. Keeping to the original build of the 1920's, renovation took a little over 2 years due to my work schedule. My companion, Joe Marte, was very instrumental as well renovating this property. Sharing Ezmeralda's with guests is a dream come true! Ah, the name...Ezmeralda's. Let me tell you, very simply. Ezmeralda is the nickname given to me by my beloved Mom. It only seemed right. I'm sure she would have approved!

I purchased this property in 2010. Living next door, I remember always wishing that I would love to be its owner. Although fairly neglected in the 20+ years of living next door to this property, I could see "her" potential. When it became available in 2010, I was elated. It took approximately one year to "close the deal" and in the end, everything worked in my favor, and I became the owner of "The Blue house on Sherman", now known as... Ezmeralda's. This bungalow gave me the opportunity to channel my creativity and indulge in my passion for vintage finds, antiques, flipping flea market treasures and putting it all together! It is whimsical and you can sense a light touch of magic in the air. Come, you will love what you see!

Although this property is located in the city and minutes away from many attractions in this area, Ezmeralda's offers a very private, rural setting. Enclosed on 3+ acres, the wooded area in the back of the property is breathtaking. An outbuilding, known as "The Wine Shack," overlooks the ravine. The name says it all ... sip a glass of wine. Stroll woodland pathways. What did you discover? Truly a unique setting on this property! The Wine Shack includes outdoor furniture, a picnic table and use of the fire pit. Just outside the back door is the garden shed and patio. A patio table and chairs are located in this area along with a gas grill / utensils for your use. Our front porch is a cozy sitting area as well! Come... you are going to enjoy this bungalow and all that it has to offer.
