Mindestaufenthalt drei Nächte. Die Wohnung in Glencaple bietet sehr komfortable und gemütliche Unterkunft im Erdgeschoss für zwei Personen im Herzen des Dorfes. Es wurde im frühen 19. Jahrhundert erbaut und auf sehr hohem Niveau renoviert. Das Wohnzimmer hat einen Holzofen sowie eine effiziente elektrische Heizung, so dass Sie warm und gemütlich sind. Schöne Aussicht auf den Fluss vom Wohnzimmer und Schlafzimmer. Kostenloses WLAN ist verfügbar. Es liegt an den Burns und Solway Coast Heritage Trails, nur wenige Kilometer vom Wildfowl und Wetlands Reserve in Caerlaverock entfernt. Im Winter fliegen Nonnengänse morgens und abends an Ihrem Fenster vorbei und andere Gänse, Wildgeflügel und Enten können auf dem Fluss beobachtet werden. In der Nähe werden oft Otter gesichtet und im Sommer wurden Schweinswale und Robben auf dem Fluss gesichtet. Dieses Gebiet ist ein Paradies für Naturliebhaber (die BBC-Sendung "Autumn Watch" wird ab 2015 ausgestrahlt). Auch ideal zum Wandern, Radfahren, Angeln, Sightseeing und Entspannen. Schöne Strände sind nur eine halbe Autostunde entfernt und das Caerlaverock Castle befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe.

Glencaple hat ein neues und sehr geschäftiges Café und Geschäft (The Boathouse) und das beliebte Hotel (The Nith), das das ganze Jahr über Mittag- und Abendessen serviert - beide gleich um die Ecke vom Flat. Great Cottage, Relaxing Location

We arrived at the cottage at the tail end of a 3 week trip in Scotland and I was coming down with an illness. But staying in the quiet and well appointed row house was the antidote I needed: super quiet; great kitchen, bed, and garden. We would absolutely book again. Caeleverlock Castle was fabulous.

Nice for two

Nice wee flat with bonus of having a sunny little garden at the back. Didn't need to use the burner at this time of year but bet it will make the place very cosy and snug in Winter.The bed felt very hard but was surprisingly comfortable!

Excellent apartment

Lovely location and awesome views. Property was very comfortable and cosy. We're allergic to feathers so Sue made sure there were no issues. She took great care to think of our wellbeing. We are an older couple so comfort and ease of getting around the flat are important to us. The flat was well equipped and tastefully decorated. Thanks fir a lovely stay.

Glencaple holiday

We had the most beautiful stay in Sues flat! Location was so perfect, near the pub and the cafe, and walk out the door and there are stunning views all day, but amazing sunrises. Also only a short drive into Dumfries for any shopping. The flat was very spacious for the two of us and it had everything we needed! Thanks for having us Sue, will definitely recommend this place and be back again!

Great choice of property!

We were looking for a place to stay to enable us to visit the South West Coast in Dumfries & Galloway and also visit friends in Langholm. The Flat was perfect. Great location, all the necessary facilities, cosy and comfy, we slept well and relaxed during our stay. Lots of storage, kitchen equipment and comfy sitting room and heating. Great little place

Glencaple. First stop in the Dumfries area. Next to the river Nith estuary. Thousands of geese. Nice boathouse cafe on the pier and the Nith Hotel for a good dinner. For a quiet cozy rural village experience. Heartily recommend the apartment. Thanks to our very attentive landlady.

This is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Everything is there that you need and it all works. How many cottages have we stayed in with no matches! Not that we needed them in this case, but it was good to see that there were 2 boxes there just in case.

A wonderful surprise

This cottage suited us well - a small garden with plenty of sunshine. located near the local shop and bus stop, good cycling and Dumfries a few miles away. We visited several nature and bird reserves, a number of historic sites, Dumfries town with its Burns connections. The setting is glorious, the comfort excellent and we recommend it as a first-class base to explore an uncrowded and little-known part of the UK. We found a red squirrel a matter of feet from us in one country park, the site of the creation of the first bicycle, and the first ever savings bank. Thank you, Sue

Comfort and peace!

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable four nights at the flat and wished it could have been longer. We particularly loved the views across the estuary and being able to sit in the lovely garden each morning to eat our breakfast. (Yes, it was sunny!) The flat was clean and comfortable, it contained everything we could need for an easy stay - all the usual things but also extras such as matches, pens and notepad, pegs for the washing line, books, simple medical kit, spare toiletries... Out and about we walked along the coast to Caerlaverock Castle, then caught the bus back, had coffee at the Boathouse, explored the vintage treasure trove (shop) across the road and also went into Dumfries, then down the opposite bank of the Nith to Sweetheart Abbey. All in all a relaxing and welcome break - it is easy to see why there are so many repeat bookings in the visitors book. Thank you!

Enjoyed our 4 night stay

The flat was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is in a great location for birdwatching - lots of barnacle geese at this time of year! Breakfast at the Boathouse was excellent too. Thanks for an enjoyable stay :)

Sue lives in Glencaple (just around the corner from the Flat) with her husband Rob. Rob and Sue are both now retired and are enjoying it very much! They moved to Glencaple 13 years ago (Sue grew up in the area) after living in cities most of their lives and spending a large part of their careers travelling the world. They now enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area.

Sue and Rob bought the property to renovate and rent as a holiday home so that others could enjoy the delights of the area. Everything is here for a wonderful Scottish holiday especially if you are a nature lover - the scenery, bird-watching and wildlife are superb. Glencaple is only five miles from Dumfries and is perfectly situated - rural yet not remote. You can be in the depths of Galloway in an hour; in Glasgow in an hour and a half and Carlisle in 40 minutes.

Although small, the property is very comfortable, well-laid out and easily managed. The kitchen is very well equipped but you can always pop round the corner to the local hotel or tearoom if you don't feel like cooking.
