I was looking for a retreat-like experience before moving, and this place did not disappoint!
Pros:
-Beautiful location
-Secluded (next to a hay farm)
-Nice furniture
-Had just about everything I needed
-Owner was very responsive and solved a minor issue very quickly
-Not too far from Ashland shopping (about 20 minutes)
-Pond was beautiful (didn't fish though)
-All sorts of wildlife came by to visit
-Nice long driveway
-My Favorite Part: two beautiful porches with comfortable furniture. Glass enclosed rooms with some screens on nice days. I spent most of my time in the larger of the two porches. Because it also had a TV.
-Internet worked great!
-Clean
-Lots of bugs outside (its the time of year for them), but perhaps only a few flies inside. That really impressed me.
-Very nice outside patio with a grill. I used that a good bit. Patio also has a nice firepit with wood provided. Unfortunately it rained when I first got there, so the wood was a bit wet. I bought some starter logs to help with that.
-Nice wood burning stove in the larger porch.
Cons:
-Front door didn't feel like much of a front door. Its a nice sliding door, which must work well in a rural environment.
-Other reviewers mentioned well water. I can attest to this. Usually well water doesn't bother me much, but this stuff especially had a strong odor. Please do bring bottles of water with you.
-Not all the doors/windows in the porches had screens to them. Would have loved to have them opened. (to be fair, the ones that did have screens had very nice screens with no large holes for bugs and critters to get in)
-Wasn't able to use the fireplaces (they needed to be cleaned), but at least there was a note in the fireplaces telling me that.
Overall: This is a great stay. I would absolutely recommend it to most people looking to get away from more populated areas. I hope to be back.
