Disappointing, not as advertised - 3 Stars is being generous

We have stayed in several units at the GC over the years, and all have been at 4.5-5 stars. This was the most underwhelming unit we've stayed in which is why we gave it 3. The good: Owners are responsive. They were kind enough to allow for an early check-in and slightly early check-out, though we find this standard with the other owners of GC units. Bed was comfortable as were pillows. The Grand Champions itself is wonderful. Great location, quiet, walking distance to the Shops at Wailea, beaches, the grounds have 2 nice pools and is very pretty. The bad: Unit itself is in desperate need of a deep clean, walls painted, carpet cleaning and to be treated for termites, pest control, lots of mold in shower. NOT updated though the ad will tell you it is. Shower head calcified and leaking. Coffee maker is old and doesn't work well. LV rm AC unit filter was FILTHY. Very sparse in the way of dishes, utensils, and the pots and pans were old and damaged. Zero salt, pepper, spices in the kitchen. One roll of paper towels for our week+ stay. No extra TP - owners live nearby so did drop some but extra should have been left. There were 2 coolers for the beach but one was rusty and didn't roll (had wheels) while the other soft cooler's strap was missing so you could not carry it. Beach chairs were old, missing attached pillows, etc. Batteries in the tv remote were dead. Stereo in living room is 10+ years old and not compatible for modern devices and reception too poor for radio.

Great Condo & Location

I have stayed at other properties in this same neighborhood over the years, and this one is the best. The condo is clean and well stocked with the necessities for a comfortable "at home" style stay. The deck overlooked the golf course which was entertaining, for not always good reasons as the golfers may say, and you could also see the ocean. It was a wonderful stay.

Peaceful and spacious, perfect location, beautiful view

We loved our stay at unit 168! The condo is a spacious, upstairs corner unit with a beautiful balcony view, in a fantastic location at Grand Champions. The bed was extremely comfortable and the complex was peaceful and quiet. The beach chairs, cooler, and umbrella provided were so helpful for all our beach days! We also appreciated Brian and Marie-Christine's responsive communication - everything was a breeze! Thanks for an amazing stay.

Spacious-Great View & Location

Everything was great! Its a spacious top level condo with everything you would need. Beautiful view off the balcony. Walkable to the beach, golf course, and restaurants/shops. And Brian communicated very well and made everything simple and easy.

Location, Location, Location

This one bedroom condo is in an excellent location - close enough to walk to the Shops at Wailea, a coffee shop and the AC Marriott. It over looks the golf course and you can see the sunset from the balcony. It is fairly spacious and well equipped. The only small complaint I might have is that the carpet is a bit tired. I was driving a large SUV, the parking is tight for a big vehicle. Consider renting a smaller car or SUV.

Great property, two swimming pools, beautiful grounds. The only problem during our stay was one pool was closed for a time, and there were over 40 people at the other pool, making it impossible to bbq and eat at the pool.

It’s fine

The headline says upgraded. I couldn’t find anything that was upgraded. But clean and roomy. Nice view. Slat doors and windows, I.e. sound and light goes through the door. Responsive host. The stove is very basic with no indication of hot or cold for the burners. Would have appreciated more mugs. We stayed in another condo the days before this one which had some spices, cooking oil and tea. But this condo only had salt. I’ve stayed in many VRBOs and I sure appreciate the condos that have a few items in the kitchen. That’s always a big plus. Overall it was a good stay.

Nice quiet condo with beautiful views

We enjoyed our stay in unit 168- very peaceful and quiet unit. Watching the golfers each morning while sipping coffee was a joy. Beautiful views all around. Bed was comfy and kitchen was stocked enough to make a couple of meals. Thanks for the amazing stay!

Grand Champions Wailea #168

Overall, a good value. The unit was clean and the owners were easy to work with. I've stayed in several units here before, and all of those have been updated. This one has not. It's a bit dated, and didn't have as many amenities as the other units I've stayed in, but it was a good deal for the area. After all, you don't go to Wailea to stay inside!! The Grand Champions complex is a great alternative to the ridiculously priced hotels in Wailea. It's literally 5 walking minutes to the Shops in Wailea, and maybe 8 walking minutes to the beach.

Great value in a great location

We come to Wailea a lot, and usually stay at the Grand Champions, so we're pretty familiar with the kind of week we're going to have. In general, this condo is pretty good - above average for the price. The decor is a bit dated, and the unit could use a little TLC (a few burnt-out light bulbs here and there), but overall it's a nice unit with lots of light, a great view, and plenty of room. The one negative thing about the condo in general is there are louvered doors everywhere. Louvered doors do nothing for sound, very little for light, and offer not much, um, bathroom privacy. The bed is super comfortable, and the bedroom was plenty large enough to put an air mattress in the corner for our 4-year-old. There is lots of drawer space, and a small closet in the bedroom with a much larger closet in the bathroom. There are two full bathrooms, which is great! Families with kids should be aware, though - there is no tub. Both baths have showers. The water gets hot fast and the pressure is great. (The toilet flush lever in the second bathroom is a little janky, but it works once you get the hang of it) The kitchen is well-equipped and the appliances are all in great condition (except the ice maker, which seems to not even be hooked up). The counters are updated and there is plenty of space to work and store things. The breakfast-bar area is very convenient, and it's open to the main living area. The living area is comfy and large- with a sofa, a couple chairs, and a dining table all in the same area. It's great for us to spread out a bit and still be in the same room. The electronics are a tad old (the stereo has a 30-pin iPod dock!), but they work fine. The A/C in this area is woefully underpowered. It has to basically run 24/7 to keep the room comfortable in 90º heat. We did have a bit of a disappointment when a truck hit a utility box and knocked out the internet to the area. The outage bricked the modem (after I rebooted it at Spectrum's instruction) , and we were without internet for most of the stay. I don't fault the owner for the outage at all, but they could have been a little more proactive in getting it fixed for us. Overall, nice place to stay in a great location.

Seamless checkin. Plenty of starter packs (dishwashing soap, shampooo, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc). There was a water break in the complex that affected us. But they fixed it within the day and the owner kept us informed all along the way. Also a great view from the balcony

A little slice of heaven!

We stayed at this beautiful condo after our wedding in Maui. It was everything we could have hoped for. A tranquil spot with a gorgeous view of the sunset every evening, just a stone’s throw from an array of great restaurants, shops and of course, the golden beaches of Wailea. The condo itself was spotless, perfectly air conditioned and wonderfully decorated. The bed was super comfortable, and the surrounding area was quiet at night. We definitely hope to stay here again in the future!

Wailea is one of the best if not the best resort community in Maui and perhaps in all of Hawaii. Grand Champions is a gorgeous condo complex. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. It is like a botanical garden. Two swimming pools and the hot tub is a source of fun all day. Grand Champions is a short walk away from some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Nearby luxury hotels, spas, shopping, tennis, and golf is an added bonus.

This second-floor unit is furthest away from the main entrance and at the opposite end away from the tennis court activity, consequently, it is very private and quiet. It is right on the golf course. Golf views are stunning. There is also limited ocean views. It is in one of the most desirable buildings in Grand Champions. It is a second floor unit with cathedral ceilings. It is also a corner unit which means that it has windows on three sides. High ceilings and windows make the unit feel bright and open. This one bedroom design is known to be the most desirable layout in Grand Champions. The unit has been totally remodeled recently. Some of our guests have called this unit "inspiring."
