We stayed at the property for 3.5 days with our toddler. It was close to a couple of kid friendly beaches and it was nice to watch the birds and other wildlife at the canal behind the house. Unfortunately, I do regret choosing this apartment due to subsequent communication issues with the owner. Several hours before our flight back, I received news that my grandfather collapsed and EMT crew was trying to resuscitate him. Two hours went by without information, before learning that he had passed away. While this was going on, we were in shock and glued to our phones, processing and understanding what happened. Ultimately, we had to scramble and quickly pack as we were close to missing our flight back home. The following day, the owner messaged me about being dissatisfied with our cleaning of the property. Apparently, the cleaning service they use and charge a fee for only includes sanitization and laundry, so it was their expectation that the counters be washed, appliances cleaned, no trash left inside the trash bins. Even though, those expectations were not communicated to us previously, I apologized, explained how much stress we were under during packing, and offered to compensate for any extra cleaning expenses. However, even after mailing the check, I continued to receive nasty messages and basically threats. The lack of empathy and the added stress during an already emotional time is regrettable.
