Wonderful location in James Bay with a marvelous garden
We were lucky to find the Secret Garden available for an extended stay while our home in Victoria was undergoing renovations. The townhouse is right across from the Wharf and close to many good restaurants and cafes. Parking was easy and we were able to have 2 cars there during our stay (be sure to check with the hosts to see if this is still the case if that is important to you). The inner harbour is within easy walking distance with everything it has to offer. Brenda and Barry were very gracious and thorough with their communications.

The Secret Garden was everything it was represented to be: very comfortable, well equipped and is a wonderful location for enjoying everything Victoria has to offer. Especially handy to excellent public transportation.

Our Favorite in James Bay
This was our third stay at this property. I guess that says it all. It is a great townhouse. Close to all the things we love about Victoria yet hidden away in the back of a quiet building of three town homes. Yep, we will be returning for another great stay. Thank you Barry and Brenda.

The Secret Garden
We loved our stay in this beautiful, cosy and quiet home. The kitchen was fully equipped for meal preparation. The location could not have been better - close to grocery shopping, the new James Bay library, downtown and the harbour. Our hosts were gracious, helpful and fun! Excellent accommodations.

A beautiful home tucked away and a great location to downtown or the wharf.
I would definitely stay at this house again. It was so much like being at home and the back garden is so peaceful and restful it's hard not to sit in it any time day or night. The house is everything one could need and more. The location is excellent to downtown or the wharf. I highly recommend this house to anyone who would like to visit Victoria and have a great place to go from.

LOVELY HOME IN A GREAT LOCATION.
We had a wonderful one month stay at Barry and Brendas James Bay home. We didn't even rent a car this trip as the bus runs regularly (about every 15 minutes) from the stop for Fishermans Wharf just a block away. The bus ride is only 15 minutes to downtown. The home was very clean, comfortable and well stocked with necessities. The bedrooms each have their own bath, one with a shower/tub and the other has a walk in shower. Everything was in working order and easy to operate. Barry met us on arrival and gave us a tour and information on the workings of the home. The unit is at the back of the property so it is very quiet and private. The garden is well kept and landscaped beautifully. Thank you Brenda and Barry for a great stay.

Wonderful Home with Beautiful Secluded Yard
We visit Victoria once or twice a year but this was our first time renting a vacation property for our visit. We stayed at Barry and Brenda's townhome from Oct 5 - 13, 2017 and it was absolutely perfect in every way. The home is a great mix of high-end modern appliances and amenities along with lovely antique furnishings that provides a beautiful space to relax and unwind. Barry and Brenda were very welcoming so we truly felt "at home". The gas fireplace was great for the cooler mornings and evenings of our fall visit. We did not utilize the backyard as much as we would have liked due to the weather but it was great to have access to the barbecue and the secluded garden and patio were lovely to view through the big expanse of windows when dining or relaxing in the living room. In the spring or summer you would likely spend most of your time in the backyard. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom so the townhouse is ideal for vacationing with adult family or another couple. The location of the property in James Bay is ideal for walking to Fisherman's Wharf, the pathways along Dallas Road and the Inner Harbour. It is also close to a shopping area with a great Thrifty's store for groceries, a good takeout pizza place (Superior) and a liquor & wine and beer store. We ate most of our breakfasts and some lunch and suppers at the townhouse so easy access to groceries was handy and the townhouse was otherwise well stocked. A great spot for breakfast or lunch close to the townhouse is the B.C. Legislative Building dining room. The food is well prepared and reasonably priced. You can check their website for hours and rules about when you can go. Reservations are recommended for lunch. All in all, Barry and Brenda's home is well situated, lovely, and very user friendly and we thank them for providing access to their home. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect week
We come to Victoria yearly.....another perfect stay. We only rent a car for excursions, we find it unnecessary with the walkability and excellent transit system. So the townhome was in a great location for walking everywhere in the city, along the coast, and hopped the water taxis if we were tired of walking. Home itself is serene, spacious, comfortable. We don't cook on vacation, but fully stocked kitchen. Patio area quite lovely. Didn't get to meet Brenda and Barry but they were very easy to communicate with. After trying other city locations.....we now always stay in the Beacon Park area...best area of city in our opinion....and a lovely home.

Home away from home
Thanks to Brenda and Barry for sharing their lovely home with us on our recent visit to Victoria. We had a great time. The location is fantastic and the accommodations were very clean and comfortable. The back patio was private and the gardens were beautiful. The home had all of the necessities one would ever need. We BBQ'd salmon on Saturday night and then walked downtown to enjoy a few pints at the Irish Times. A short 10 minute walk. We also walked down to Fisherman's Wharf ( a one minute walk) and caught the water taxi to "Old Town" as well as the pier at The Empress on the Sunday. We will never stay at another hotel while in Victoria. This two bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom townhouse provided plenty of room and had all the comforts of home. We highly recommend this James Bay beauty!! Thanks again for your warm welcome. We will definitely be back.

Perfect Stay in Victoria
If you're looking for an ideal place to stay in Victoria, look no further. Brenda & Barry's James Bay townhome is the perfect location from which to explore the city and surrounding area. The home is a fine example of local hospitality- lovingly furnished, clean, and comfortable our family of three felt perfectly at home and thoroughly enjoyed the neighborhood. The location is safe and convenient to Fisherman's Wharf, providing immediate access to the water taxi, whale watching & fishing tours, food, and the Float Home Village of Houseboats to explore. Downtown is an easy walk from James Bay with many excellent restaurants, shops, museums, and historic buildings. After hours of exploration, we ended our days enjoying the peace and privacy of our very own patio with its lovely landscaping. Thank you, Brenda & Barry, for sharing your wonderful home with us. Perfect
This property was perfect. Very quiet,clean and well stocked . We were in Victoria for the Half Marthon and 8 mile road race. The location was perfect for both participants and spectators. Barry met us there and went through everything and was very thoughtful to our needs. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

A wonderful three month stay in this James Bay home
We had planned a three month holiday from the UK in Victoria BC and found this wonderful property conveniently located in historic James Bay only minutes from downtown. It is a great property with everything we needed for our stay and Barry and Brenda, our terrific hosts, made us feel welcomed and valued guests, always at the end of a phone or text if we needed assistance. We loved the sunny patio area, it's privacy and being sheltered from the wind. We found the beds were very comfortable and loved the ensuite too. The location is terrific, near fishermans wharf and the inner harbour walk which takes you to the parliament buildings and the Royal BC Museum and downtown Victoria. There are food shops, pharmacy, BC liquor store and coffee shops just five/ten minutes away by car/foot. All in all, a great property and location for either a long weekend or a longer vacation to get to know Victoria, its environs and the island and also put your feet up, grab the drink of your choice and relax. Thanks Barry and Brenda for sharing your home with us!

A very nice place. Barry met us to provide access despite our late arrival and gave us a through tour of his wonderful home . Many antiques and
eclectic furnishings demonstrated pride in ownership. Beautiful patio and well equipped kitchen were both unused bonuses . We found the beds very comfortable. Definitely worth a repeat stay next time in Victoria

Excellent location and property
This property offers everything a guest could want in a home. Three bathrooms and two bedrooms. Laundry room included detergent! Directions to the property were easy to follow and the owner was flexible about when to meet us with keys. Questions that came up during our stay were answered quickly. The home was very comfortable. Lots of seating with good light for reading or conversational groups. Multiple televisions and good sound-proofing between the bedrooms and the living areas. A group of us were able to do different activities without disturbing each other. The kitchen was over-the-top supplied with kitchen utensils and appliances. Lots of extras like spices and oils. A line of cookbooks on the shelf to refer to. A basket of local information brochures and maps was provided. But the best part was the patio with flowering shrubs, BBQ grill, tables and chairs in different areas for moving from shade to sun. Two blocks from the bustle of Fisherman's Wharf and the little ferry boat taxis to take us to the Inner Harbor. But sheltered and quiet on the patio. No problems with street noise. A big plus was the off-street parking. Never any problems searching for a place to park our rental car.

Perfect home for a stay in Victoria
Brenda and Barry have a lovely 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home within an easy walk of Victoria's inner harbor, many of its top tourist sights and the ferry. The house itself is perfectly charming, beautifully appointed and very clean. It also includes a wonderful, private terraced garden and patio to enjoy in good weather. It has very convenient parking too. We loved our stay there and would highly recommend it as a perfect place to stay in Victoria to anyone.

great location, well maintained
My husband and I stayed here with our daughter for Easter weekend. The location is perfect, walking distance to downtown, Fisherman's Wharf and lots of restaurants. The kitchen is very well stocked and quality appliances. We brought our bikes and were very appreciative to store our bikes in their garage. Barry met us there and was very helpful getting us situated. We would totally stay here again if we are in Victoria again.

Very comfortable and easy to reach everywhere we wanted to go.
My grandson and I stayed for a week. We went bird watching and visiting a friend. This home was perfect for us with 2 bedrooms each with their own bathroom upstairs. Downstairs there was a living room with fireplace (very cosy at night and early morning), dining room which we did not use, kitchen with every appliance and cooking utensils you could want and a 1/2 bath with laundry facilities. We were very comfortable. The homeowner met us at the home and showed us around and was readily available by phone when needed. A great place to stay.

Fantastic well appointed and tastefully decorated end unit townhome.
We are locals and needed a place to stay between moves. This is an extremely well finished, exceptionally bright, and tastefully decorated very private townhome offering at least 1200 sf of highly functional and space, right in the heart of everything. A short walk to beach, Beacon Hill Park and main tourist area. Top of the line appliances, including glass top gas range, many skylights, and dramatic ceiling vaults both in the main living area and bedrooms,. Bedrooms are the size of small hotel rooms by themselves. Plus, fully stocked with everything you can imagine, and the owners are every so easy to get along with and very accommodating. Huge private patio. I highly recommend this rental.

Perfect location
This was the best rental for us to visit Victoria. Drove right of the ferry and took 3 mins. to get here.
It is only a one minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf. Hubby and kids just loved the ocean walk downtown ( we had a car but actually enjoyed just walking and exploring )
Brenda the owner was so wonderful and welcoming; the cozy fireplace was a real treat - your decor is also rather unique - thank you again Brenda :)
Exceeded all our expectations ... private patio and quiet area, very safe here.
We will be back for sure! If you allow pets I'm future too I would love to discuss our dachshund Charlie. Wink wink

We are an active retired couple and the townhouse at 113 Michigan St. is our home. When we rent to visitors we leave everything in place and are happy to share so that our guests have that "homely, put your feet up & relax " feeling. We enjoy hosting & meeting wonderful, interesting people . We have become friends with many of our guests who have become "returnees" over the years.
