This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and we were unsure of which areas we wanted to visit. The location was HUGE!! This home afforded us the ability to travel the entire Pacific Coast and still return to a familiar bed each night. We lucked up on a festival being held within blocks of the casa, which was terrific! There is a fresh market on Friday evening and Saturday morning within walking distance, where we were able to try local fruits, and we also purchased fresh chicken and veggies. Having a kitchen was nice, because we love to cook, and there was also a grill for us to use. We ventured out into the neighborhood and checked out a few of the “hole in the wall” type bars. They were very relaxed, and most everyone spoke some English, so between our broken Spanish, and their broken English, we got by fine.
Dorit and Alex were wonderful. They were full of suggestions as to places to see, but did not intrude on our vacation. We met their fur babies, and that was nice too, because we knew we were surrounded by families living normal lives, not someone trying to sell you something constantly.
If there was anything that we would have changed, we are a little spoiled with air conditioning. They do not have one, which is pretty common. Dorit gave us a floor fan, which was a game changer! (Thanks again!!)
All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to see what the true families in Costa Rica live like. You will be in a neighborhood, on a dead end trail, no thru traffic, easy to find, and a convenient location for beaches, sightseeing, jungles, restaurants, markets, you name it! Make sure to visit La Parcela! OMG THE MONKEYS SWING IN AND EAT OFF OF YOUR PLATE WHILE THE SUNSETS ON THE PACIFIC OCEAN!!
And ....yes. We want to go back to live there forever!
