Property is in a state of uncleanliness and disrepair
The co-host was responsive and offered to have the property cleaned; however, the property was so filthy, it would take days not hours to thoroughly clean. The property smells like wet dog; the doors, walls, baseboards, a/c vents, and thermostat are filthy. The sofa upholstery and area rugs need deep cleaning. The co-host offered to move me to another property, IF AVAILABLE, AT MY OWN UPFRONT EXPENSE (while I wait for reimbursement from VRBO), and WITH NO OFFER FOR PRICE MATCHING. I explained that I was traveling with elderly parents (in their 80s, one with dementia) and that moving them again wasn't an option. I asked for a partial refund, which was denied. The disrepair of this property is significant: the pocket door in the primary bathroom is stuck in the wall; the bottoms of several doors are dry rotted; in the second bathroom, the resurfaced tub is stained and peeling, the vanity is rotten with the veneer peeling off, and the towel rack is pulled away from the wall; repairs are clearly visible with mismatched paint and/or no paint; the microwave interior is rusted, the curtains have holes, the leatherette sofa shows significant damage from a cat; and the leatherette counter height dining chairs have deteriorated down to the underlayment. From reviews, this home was nice at one time; however, it has fallen into filth and disrepair. The photos need to be updated to reveal the true condition of the home; otherwise, renters will feel as if they've been cat fished.
