When we booked this stay 11 months in advance, I can’t tell you how excited I was as a wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother(“Nana”) planning to have our whole family together at the beach area. Upon arrival, we found the place clean and very accommodating for our group and I was thrilled. However…. there were some glitches.
1.) With our first dip in the pool we found a large piece of the pool tile edge broken and came off leaving a sharp edge. (Picture included). We understand, things happen, and we were careful with our group of grandchildren, not to let anyone get injured by it.
2.) It doesn’t take too many trips in and out of the house at the beach to decide that it’s time to pull out the vacuum cleaner. We’ll, that was a disaster. The vacuum cleaner was a disaster, spitting out sand faster than it was picking it up.
3.) It also doesn’t take many trips out in the heat to decide that you’d like some ice in your drink. Sorry……the ice maker doesn’t work. Seeing that there was ice in the “ice collection bin” that was obviously store bought ice, it was clear that this was not a new event. Ugh!!!!
4.) One of the main burners on the gas stove didn’t work properly and we gave up trying to use it. This was a bummer as we cooked almost all of our meals for family at the house.
5.) The remote control for the ceiling fan in the one common gathering room (the living room which is where several of the children slept) didn’t work so there was no way to turn on the fan and circulate the air in that room.
6.) The poolside wooden furniture is falling apart
7.)And here is the CLENCHER, the thing that drove me BONKERS all week long. especially knowing that the owner knew about the problem. (We discussed it in our correspondence. ) His words were “and the kitchen sink faucet, that is kind of a crazy handle, it just continually needs to be tightened.” (You would think that someone who has worked in the construction service industry would consider that to be a priority! I bet his home faucet doesn’t “continually” need to be tightened.
So there you go….all in all, it is a beautiful place to stay and very accommodating to a large group. The pool is it’s saving Grace and the proximity to the beach is very nice.
And yes, the owner is very responsive to messages sent, but I wonder if he replaced the faucet before the next occupants arrived. It certainly would have been an easy and inexpensive solution to a VERY AGGRAVATING problem.
