Disappointing Stay with Potential
We recently decided to try vacation rentals after years of sticking to hotels, but this property reminded us why we preferred hotels. Although the rental has potential, our stay was disappointing.
Cleanliness: Despite positive reviews, we encountered significant issues. On arrival, we found ants everywhere, forcing us to buy bug repellent for ourselves and our dogs. Even after spraying, bugs, including ants, persisted, including in the bed. When we reported this, the owners asked for photo proof, which was difficult since our priority was to address the problem. We sent a photo of an ant on the bed, but the owner’s dismissive response was, "at least it's just an ant." This was unacceptable and led us to leave a day early.
The fridge was dirty and had strands of hair, showing a lack of proper cleaning. We were also asked to remove bed sheets upon checkout, which seemed unnecessary, especially when stains on the pillows and mattress indicated poor hygiene.
Amenities: The "Smart TV" listed was outdated and lacked essential streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, limiting our options after a long day of exploring. An updated TV would improve the guest experience.
Parking: The construction next door made parking difficult. A heads-up about this would have been appreciated.
Rules and Procedures: We found many expectations excessive compared to hotel standards, making the stay feel more cumbersome than relaxing.
