'Villa La Cerisaie' is the recently refurbished house of retired university historian and his artist wife. Spectacularly positioned 1000ft above sea level, near the town of Ceret (4km) and immediately below the 13th cent. Conservation area of the 'Ermitage de St. Ferreol'. There are magnificent, panoramic views of Mount Canigou (9000ft), the Pyrenees, the Roussillon plains and the Mediterranean (15km). Set in 12 acres of private garden and woodland, surrounded by cherry orchards and vineyards, it
has a new swimming pool with jacuzzi and solar shower, facing
south and making the most of its impressive setting. The house is
surrounded by a large terrace facing the large, mosaic swimming
pool and jacuzzi and consists of entrance hall with cloakroom and
W.C, extensive sitting room with adjoining library, a balcony
facing south and a full length conservatory facing south east
towards Spain. All the villa is fully furnished to a high standard
with T.V (English/French), DVD & video & antique.

Autumn Specials. B & B Twin bedded room or Double room, both with ensuite. Short breaks a speciality at £80 per room per night. £90 per night weekend. Friendly welcome to our beautiful villa with owner on site in separate appartment.
Continental Breakfast included. Evening dinner can be prepared by special request. We can offer a tranquil location with stunning views of Canigou and the Mediterranean in our villa surrounded by books, TV, art, and every comfort.

MECONTENT

La piscine et le spa n'était pas nettoyés avec risque d'électrocution avec des fils électriques apparents, grenouilles et œufs de grenouilles dans la piscine. Insécurité du site pour des enfants ! Impossible de trouver une solution à l'amiable avec la propriétaire (pas honnête) et avec l'assistance d'ABRITEL. Impossible de rester et avons été obligés de quitter l'habitation et de trouver une autre location. Impossible de récupérer la somme payée alors que dans les conditions générales d'ABRITEL, ils auraient du soit nous reloger, soit nous rembourser. Pas très sérieux !!!

Très jolie maison au cœur de la nature

Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine . L’accueil a été chaleureux et les propriétaires très sympathiques et discrets. Seul bémol manque deux trois informations sur l’annonce et plus de photos récentes.

Perfect house for us. A beautiful house and garden with terrace and pool.

We enjoyed our week at this property. It is a beautiful and beautifully furnished and decorated house. The pool is also problem free and very welcome in the hot weather which we experienced. The views from the property are lovely. It is just a few kilometers from Ceret - a very attractive town. Also 10 mins drive from boulangeries. We enjoyed visits to the coast - Argeles, Collioure and Port Vendres and inland to the monastery of St Martin du Canigu. The owners, on the site, were very friendly and helpful.

We are retired University professor for History and Education with a deep knowledge of the area in which we now live and his wife, Jeanne, A retired teacher of the creative arts and Painter, Illustrator and nearly anything else connected to the visual arts.
The villa is both the central setting and inspiration for the book 'Murder in Paradise' by David Turner now available on Amazon.
This book is a light hearted examination of the activities of the northern Europeans who settled in Roussillon hoping for the 'good life'. It not only sets the scene and describes the activities of the many Europeans who settled here, but also describes the area and its many attractions from palaces of the Kings of Majorca in Perpignan and Collioure to the extensive mountain walks in the Pyrenées. Not forgetting the mysterious exploits of the Cathars and Popes to stamp out heresy. For anyone planning to visit the area the book gives a fairly comprehensive idea of what to expect and why so many are attracted to setlle in this region.

We have been told and know in all modesty that our property occupies perhaps the most enviable position in the locality with panoramic views of mountains and sea surrounded by over fifty hectares of private land in the conservation area of the 13th century Ermitage of St Ferreol. A well known beauty spot for the
region. No other property can compare for position. It is unique for Ceret. The Villa is also unique as it is a home not just a sterile holiday rental. It is furnished in the Catalan style with many paintings and artefacts representing the travels and intersts of the owners. It is also the setting for the book 'Murder in Paradise' by David Turner which gives an insight not only to the area and it's rich historical past but also reflects many of the experiences to be enjoyed here as either visitors or those who have chosen to settle here. The book is published 2013 and is to be found on Amazon or other leading book sellers around the world.

Perfect for yoga retreats. Lessons offered by well qualified and experienced teacher in a yurt within your own domaine of Villa la Cerisaie beginning summer 2014. Painting lessons for those who wish by well qualified professional artist and teacher. All manner of crafts can also be taught. Apart from that we can offer privacy, tranquility yet within walkable distance of the medieval town of Ceret famous for its culture and love of the arts with many festivals throughout the season for music and the visual arts and crafts. The spacious villa offers an extremely well equipped and comfortable home well above the average for a normal holiday rental as it is also used as our own family home out of season. The pool has been built to fulfill all latest safety requirements possible with jacuzzi and without having the environment spoilt with a fence. Ideal for family fun of all ages. We have many returners.
