Unser 1,2 Hektar großes Grundstück befindet sich direkt am einzigen für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglichen Hilo Municipal Golf Course auf Big Island im südlichen Teil von Hilo.
Wir haben unser Haupthaus vor und nach hinten ein 800 qm großes Studio und Lanai mit Blick nach Osten, mit direktem Blick auf unseren Garten und Obstgarten. Unser Obstgarten enthält verschiedene saisonale Früchte wie Papayas, Sternfrüchte, Litschi, Jabuticaba und vieles mehr.

Unsere zentrale Lage bietet Ihnen einen hervorragenden Zugang zu allen verschiedenen Aktivitäten von East Hawaii.

Nur 7-15 min. Von hier aus haben Sie alle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants von Hilo. Der historische Teil von Hilo Downtown mit dem Hilo Farmer Market, Just Cruisin Coffee und Ou Thai Food (auf dem Bauernmarkt mit großartigem Thai Green Papaya Salad), um nur einige zu nennen.

Nur 10-30 min. Von hier aus haben Sie Zugang zu Hilos Stränden, Surfen, Wandern, Höhlenforschung, Wasserfällen und der großen Attraktion der Big Island, der Lava, die in den Ozean fließt.

Nur 25-45 min. Im Süden haben Sie Zugang zum Volcano National Park von Big Island und zu Hawaiis Volcano Winery gleich um die Ecke.
Im Norden befindet sich der Hawaii Tropical Batanical Garden der Hamakua-Küste, Hawaiis einziges und sehr malerisches Laupahoehoe Train Museum und das unglaubliche Waipi'o Valley.

Oder bleiben Sie einfach zu Hause und spielen Sie eine Runde Golf auf dem einzigen öffentlich zugänglichen Golfplatz der Insel, dem "Hilo Municipal Golf Course".

Relaxing in Hilo!

Excellent accommodation in all respects. Complete amenities and excellent communication with host, Ingrid! We greatly enjoyed our relaxing days in Hilo. We now understand why the atmosphere is described as more "laid back" that the other side of Hawaii Island.

Great stay in Hilo

Our stay at this property was fabulous. The apt. was very clean and comfortable for us. The unit was well equipped and we needed nothing during our stay. The host family was super friendly and loved our conversations with them. There was no a/c but the fans provided kept us very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Great hospitality, but in a housing unit

The owner is very nice and helpful. The apartment was as described but it wasn't mentioned that this is a housing unit under the owner's apartment. We also had a leakage of water at some point with bad smell.

Nice accommodations

We had a lovely stay here for three nights while on the Hilo side of the island. Great location, close to all the major tourism sites and close enough to do a road trip for the day. Clean and comfortable. Having laundry available, en suite, was an amazing perk for this property and super helpful for us as a family. The owners are very friendly and welcoming.

We enjoyed our stay in Hilo. The apartment is the ground floor of Ingrid's family home, and has its own separate entrance. Having been to Hilo before, we didn't feel we needed a fancy tourist vacation destination lodging location, for a place to stay. So a simple and homey place, that was part of an actual home, in a suburban neighborhood, worked fine for us. It was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The location near the southern edge of Hilo makes getting out of town easier, when heading out to the national park.

This property was like returning to my childhood memories. I was raised on Oahu. I remembered the sights (neighbors, furnishings, streets), sounds (dogs, chickens, people upstairs), scents (plants & flowers) of growing up in the islands. Great friendly hosts. Good kitchen for cooking at home. Definitely would stay again. It helped that I lived in Hilo for 6 years so I knew my way around. It was like staying with family.

Comfortable

Comfortable accommodations. Family lives upstairs and we had no issues with that. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. By car, it’s approximately a 10 minute drive to downtown Hilo. It is a very nice quiet neighborhood with a Hilo Transportation Bus Stop right around the corner at the golf course.

We really liked staying at this property. The property owner is very friendly and informative. They live above the unit we stayed in. The property is clean, comfortable and well maintained and one of the owners is a contractor, so new improvements are being added on a continuing basis. The house is in a quiet neighborhood… but still close enough to be within 10 minutes of shopping restaurants, and entertainment.

Clean, comfortable, and convenient

This roomy apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay: a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. There is no AC, but none was needed (just kept the windows open and used a fan in the bedroom at night). Everything was clean when we arrived. Our host was welcoming and kind. We chose this location because it was within 10 minutes to a conference that one of us was attending in Kea'au.

Great host

We had a short stay due to medical on Hilo side. Our hosts were fantastic. The place is clean plenty of room, and we thoroughly enjoyed their surroundings. Close to grocery stores, hospital and restaurants. We will definitely stay there again when we have to go to the Hilo side from Kona.

Great communication

We enjoyed staying at this property. There was plenty of space, all the amenities we needed in the kitchen, a washer and dryer that worked well, and the owners were easy to communicate with. We had to change our dates and they were quick to respond and very flexible with us. Note that if you want a really quiet location it’s better to go with a hotel that has a/c. Most houses don’t and so you keep windows open for the cool breeze. Open window means the singing frogs at night and bird and neighborhood dogs in the morning. We don’t mind all those noises though. It’s part of the Hawaiian experience.

Affordable, great location, amazing hosts!

We stayed for a week while visiting the university and the island. This two-bedroom apartment suited all our needs, plus Ingrid and her husband were gracious hosts. We were offered fresh fruit from their backyard and they were outgoing, friendly and responsive. They even offered advice on things to do around the island and educated us on island flora & fauna. The apartment was well stocked with spices, oils, condiments, pots/pans, most bathroom supplies, plenty of towels and even beach towels. The full-sized washer/dryer was a bonus. The couches, chairs, and beds were very comfortable with plenty of closet space. There is plenty of light during the day, but in the evening the lighting is minimal (although Ingrid brought in a lamp since the kitchen lights quit working and she's waiting for a repairman.) It's good to note that the owners live on the property, above the apartment so there is normal family noises. Periodically during the day and evening, you can hear people walking above, and the stairs to their home are located just outside the second bedroom windows. There are also two, outdoor dogs that bark occasionally. I'm a light sleeper so slept with earplugs, which worked great and I slept very well. My spouse and kids didn't have a problem. The good part is that since they live on the property, if we needed anything it was taken care of right away. Bottom line - We will definitely stay here again!

We are a family of four. We have a daughter and a son. The house owner is born and raised here on the Big Island. His wife is from Germany.

This house is now 30 years owned by the family. It is passed on through the generations of the house owners family. The house itself is an old Plantation house style building. This means it is the old style they build houses here on the island 50 years ago. In the last year the house underwent major renovations and rebuilding to make it much nicer and also a little bid bigger. The location is a nice, secure and quiet neighborhood on the golf driving range. That makes this house and location as a vacation rental quite unique.

This apartment is perfect for families. We love it because it is nice and cozy. The view out of the wonderful and special windows in the dinning area show hibiscus flowers in different colors and different fruit trees, also pineapples and taro.
