Die Westhaven Lodge und ihre Hütten existieren seit den frühen 1930er Jahren und haben eine der besten Lagen an der Südseite der Big Bay des Lake Vermilion. Kabine 1 hat einen eigenen Punkt mit einer Feuerstelle, einem Dock und einem Bootslift und teilt sich einen Strand mit der Hauptlodge.

Der Bootslift bietet Platz für ein Boot mit einer maximalen Breite von bis zu 20 Fuß und einer maximalen Breite von 8 '- 0' '. Die 65 Quadratmeter große Kabine verfügt über ein Schlafzimmer mit einem Queensize-Bett, ein weiteres Schlafzimmer mit einem Etagenbett und zwei Einzelbetten. Auf den ausziehbaren Sofas im Familienzimmer können problemlos zwei weitere Personen untergebracht werden. Es ist komplett mit Kiefernholz eingerichtet und hat einen Granitkamin. Haustiere sind erlaubt und ein großes Deck verläuft entlang der gesamten Vorderseite (Seeufer) der Kabine. Sat-TV und WLAN sind ebenfalls verfügbar. Da die Sonne im Sommer so weit im Norden aufgeht und untergeht, ist der Punkt ideal, um beide zu beobachten - bleiben Sie einfach lange auf und stehen Sie früh auf!

Beautiful Location

The property has a perfect location on the lake and is in quiet portion of the bay. The lodge is perfect for families and friends to enjoy fishing and golfing.

Perfect Family Get Away!

We had a great time in Cabin 1, it is cozy but our family of 6 fit comfortably and we enjoyed the together time. The private dock is wonderful and the kids enjoyed hunting for beach glass and crayfish right in front. The owner was very easy to work with and went out of his way to make sure we were having fun , we will definitely be back!

Good location, dock and swimming area. Interior is very rustic and needs a deep clean and some TLC. Kitchen utensils/supplies are basic and required washing before use. Could use updated bath towels, carpet, window and door screens and functional smoke detectors. Nice to have dog friendly option. Wifi worked well, good TV streaming options for bad weather. Note that the lounge chairs and beach toys are at the lodge next door and shared.

Cozy Fishing Retreat on Lake Vermilion

This separate little cabin from the primary Westhaven Lodge is great. It is cozy with a nice old school up north feel about it. The bathroom has been renovated. It includes it's own dock with boat lift and a nice deck facing the lake. Close proximity to The Vermilion Club, Fortune Bay & The Y Store is a bonus. Communicating with the owner was a breeze.

Exactly as advertised

3 adults and a large teenager were a rather tight fit for the cabin since we are used to staying at a 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin, but the place was exactly as advertised. It is a very cute cabin with loads of character…. Fireplace and very cute old windows. We had great weather and spent most of our time on a rented pontoon but the cabin would be great for watching movies.

Pleasant beach, dock and private location

Cabin was clean and comfortable. Lakefront had pleasant views and ample area for dogs. Screws on lift scratched our aluminum boat but we were able to use boat lift at the lodge dock. Property management responded quickly to our questions and when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin. We had good fishing and would return to the Big Bay location that is pet friendly.

Cozy Cabin on the Water

Wonderful location on the Big Bay portion of Lake Vermillion. Cabin was as described and very comfortable for a family of 4 with 2 kids [9,3]. Location on the water was key and made fishing or sight seeing in the boat wonderful as you didn't have to go through the hassle of trailering the boat each time. Made several outings a day instead of feeling obligate to stay on the water until loading up. The kids loved being able to play in the water, catch crawfish [the Rusty's if you can get them, made a wonderful meal], and the paddleboat/canoe topped it all off. If planning a trip back to Vermillion will most certainly look for the availability of this cabin.

Rustic Relaxation

Cabin 1 was just as described--rustic and exactly what we were looking for. Felt like an "old fashioned cabin up north" as I remember from growing up. Just right for 4 people with everything we needed in kitchen, bathroom, plus comfortable beds. Took a bit to get used to low light in kitchen, but hardly an issue. Caught walleye and small mouth bass off the dock! Beautiful views of sunrise/sunset. Used the canoe which was nice, and used boat lift for rented fishing boat. Wifi and TV worked great. Plenty of yard for dog and for yard games. Definitely recommend!

Great location, afternoon shade with a nice view of the lake. Very clean and comfortable cabin. My only complaint was that the boat lift was not properly leveled and there was no locking device on it. In a high wind the stern of my boat was not able to get all the way out of the water and there was risk of it getting damaged. I ended up taking it out of the water for the one day we had really high winds. Level it out and there'll be no complaints as we intend to rent it next year too. Mike

Forgot to springclean!!

The place was NOT clean. There were mouse droppings and chewed insulation on the mantle, ashes and sawdust on the hearth. Silverware drawer full of dead bugs, cobwebs and spiderwebs throughout cabin. Doors don't close, front screen can't open. Not returning.

appearences are deceiving

the first thing we noticed was the smell. The cabin smelled tired, used, old cigarette, We opened as many windows as possible which helped some. I sat down on one of two couches/hide a beds and sunk down almost to the floor. same on the 2nd. I have seen better at the local land fill. We unpacked and spent time outside along the lakeshore. It is a nice location. Owner clamed to have wood for a fire. It was large pieces. no kindling. nothing to make kindling. Sauna was wood fired. again, no kindling and I was fearful the sauna bldg may catch fire. A very large wasp nest hung from rafters 3 ft from door. NOT safe ! Queen bed was old and very hard. we will not come back. Old resort without care to up grade sad jim evans

The Skare family bought Westhaven Lodge, all of its cabins and an additional 20 acres of heavily-wooded upland back in 1978 and operated the entire property as a resort for 20 years. Most of the original cabins making up the resort still exist, but six were sold off to some great guests who are now great neighbors. The next generation of the family continues to rent out Cabin 1 (which is still the best of the original cabins) and the Lodge--with both oriented along the lakeshore with a surprising amount of privacy.
