Erice ist ein schöner Ort und auf alle Fälle eine Reise wert. Wir wurden überaus freundlich empfangen und die Vermieter haben alles getan, um uns den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten.

Sizilien wie es leibt und lebt

Auch die Sizilianer koennen das Wetter nicht beeinflussen. Wir verbrachten sehr schoene Tage in Erice und Agrigento. Die Besitzer in Erice waren sehr hilfreich und zuvorkommend. Das Haus/Wohnung ist in einem excellenten Zustand. Gehbehindert sollte man nicht sein, denn das waere ein Challenge. Natuerlich ist das Haus nicht auf "kalt" eingestellt und es waere von Vorteil, wenigstens eine etwas staerkere Heizungseinheit im Haus zu haben, aber wenn man von Canada kommt verdaut man diesen Mangel. Danke, es war schoen bei Euch.

A top-rate experience!

We were met at the bus by Iole and her husband, and taken to the apartment. In additiom to explaining everything about the apartment, we were also given the history of this remarkable little village, and advice about what to see and do in the area. Tha apartment was amazing, with great facilities and lication. Id live to go back!!

Priceless: Location, Hosts, View

After careful research in 2019, this place remains my favorite in Sicily. This third visit was to relax. As a solo traveler I have so appreciated Iola and her husband’s attention to every detail to be certain my stay at their place met all my expectations and more. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked…. Both with utensils and appliances as well many types of fresh fruit, milk, coffee, beer and wine and water. The best i have experienced in my extensive travels. Always immaculate inside and out. Quiet and with the best sleep ever. The eerie-creepy-cool fog is forever memorable. The terrace is definitely a wonderful place to relax and take in the view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. This old town in Erice has many fascinating ancient sites to explore including my favorites Castello di Venere, an amazing wall with actual Phoenician alphabet. This house is nicely equipped with three floors, the first with a large bedroom and bathroom, the second offers a huge kitchen with a livng space adjacent, which provides a nice separation from the top level with a large bedroom, bathroom with washer with the nice terrace just off this area. It is only about 45 minutes from Tempio di Segesta, Nearby is Palermo and Mozia. Always an enriching, welcoming and relaxing experience, I will be back.

The best hosts EVER!!

Where should I start? Vincenzo’s parents, Iola and Giuseppe were so kind, attentive and friendly. They went above and beyond the call of duty - we were delayed by over 2 hours, which meant we got in after 10 pm - nonetheless, they told us not to worry, met us at an area where we could park our car safely and for free, then took all of our luggage and even though it was late, they gave us an INCREDIBLE tour of Erice! Iola sent me a list of place to visit not only in Erice, but for the rest of our trip, including links. They provided a huge fresh fruit bowl, bread, crackers, nutella, jams, red and white wine, yogurt, milk, coffee and tea products, which was essential, as we had arrived too late to eat out and we were famished! The place is beautiful, spotlessly clean - you could seriously eat off the floor! Stunning views of the city and the Trapani Salt Flats from the rooftop terrace, where we had our coffee every morning. Soaps, shampoos, etc. - the best stocked VRBO we have ever stayed at. A lovely courtyard as well. The home is tall and thin, so a spiral staircase is how you get from floor to floor - there are 3 floors, with the master on top, so we left our suitcases, which were large, on the first floor, and just got dressed down there in the morning, as that is where the shower was, too. But it was not inconvenient- you just had to plan a little. I would recommend this home to anyone, as long as they can do stairs. We would love to see Iola and Giuseppe again!

I cant write enough about how amazing this apartment is. The hosts were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Excellent host that was very kind and provided us with a small tour of the city with great knowledge and passion for his people and culture. An exceptional property and wonderful stay in the heart of beautiful and historic Erice! The views of Trapani and the ocean from our private patio were outstanding. Our host Iole and her husband helped us with free parking, and gave us a personal tour of this fascinating medieval and ancient mountain top town! The property is warm, inviting and cozy! House/Flat in the Center of Erice

Nice house and gracious hosts. You will certainly be taken care of by the host’s parents, who guide you to complimentary parking and then drive you and your baggage directly to the front of the courtyard. They go above and beyond leaving you with fruit, beer, wine and a very nice kitchen. The views from all rooms are spectacular - especially from the rooftop terrace. Laundry and a primary bedroom are found on the top floor, with kitchen and sitting room below, and second bedroom with two twins and a full bath on ground floor. The mother speaks English wonderfully and gave us a full driving tour of Erice which was informative and fun. Anything is within walking distance, but within steps you’ll find some of the best Sicilian street food and gelato you’ve ever tasted !! We had a great time in Erice, only wish we could have stayed longer. The only potential downsides to the apartment is that all three floors are connected by a spiral staircase, and there is only air conditioning on the top floor - however opening windows for mountain breezes did the trick. The ground and first floor are both accessible from the courtyard- making the spiral only a necessity when accessing the top bedroom and terrace. The unit offers the most magnificent views of surrounding country and Trapani that we could have asked for.

Excellent property and owners!

This was the first stop in our vacation in Sicily and everything about this property was exceptional!! The owners parents met us to park our car and took us on a quick tour of the city, they then took us to their property which was awesome! It was immaculate with gorgeous views and they had fresh fruit and wine with other goodies waiting for us. It was an amazing start to our trip!! We can’t thank you enough!!

Excellent!

My wife and I stayed at this Erice flat two nights, and wished we'd stayed longer. The flat is super clean, and it's quiet and private. The view from the terrace is wonderful and it is a great place for a glass of wine and for unwinding after a day spent touring the countryside or walking the town. The pictures are accurate, but perhaps a description of the layout will be helpful for those considering this flat: the ground floor consists of a bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with shower. The second floor opens into a living room and kitchen. The top floor has a large primary bedroom, a bathroom with toilet/bidet/washing machine, and the terrace with the great views. What connects the three floors is a corkscrew-like circular staircase. So if stairs are an issue or there are small children, perhaps this flat wouldn't work so well. For us, it was perfect. I must mention what nice people the owners are and their tremendous hospitality towards us. English language communications are answered quickly by Vincenzo, the son of the family who own the flat. Parking is an issue in Erice, but we arranged a meeting at the front gate entrance, and then Vincenzo directed us to free parking for our stay (note: free parking isn't available mid-summer). Then his wonderful father, Guiseppe, loaded our luggage into his car and dropped it off at the flat. Meanwhile we walked up to the town with Vincenzo and he described the history of Erice and places we should consider visiting. I should add that the host provided a really wonderful amount of fresh fruit, desserts, a bottle of wine/beers for us to consume. This was a really nice touch, which we greatly appreciated. Vincenzo also told us where we could purchase fresh tuna (mid-May to mid-June is tuna season) for a meal we ate on the terrace. In short, we were blown away by the hospitality, and the flat was really great. Erice is a really nice place to stay and it's especially wonderful once the busloads of day trippers have left. Full marks to this flat, and to its wonderful owners. We'd love to return. Many thanks!

The Magic of Home while traveling

The town of Erice was like living a fairytale with its magical charm whispering all through town and the 3 castles. We came here in early May after 5 busy days in Rome, being rained out of Palermo, and trying to safely drive Sicily terrain… Even though Erice was covered in heavy fog upon arrival, this was the start of its enchantment. Then, quickly meeting Iola (Vincenzo’s mom) at the entrance of the village made it feel like home. And boy did it! She and her partner gave us a quick historical tour of the village, helped us park the car, and then guided us through this lovely 3-story venetian/cartegan-inspired home. She had pastries and fresh fruit ready for us and said to call her at any time. The next day, at 6am, I snuck out to the rooftop terrace only to fall in love with an amazing view of the Mediterranean Sea, the nearby islands, and the rest of the land surrounding Erice/Trapani. Incredible. The rest of the home with its linens and small details restored us back to normal, just like being at home would. Can’t wait to come back!!

Perfect location, spotless, incredibly welcoming hosts, safe and secure fairyland

Second stay after long pandemic of longing to come back to magical Erice! I found this gem after many hours researching the best place to explore Erice and other interesting side trips such as Trapani and Mozia. Iola and Vencenzo made certain they could welcome us to show us around the town for a second time as we arrived much later than we imagined. They are very, very generous with supplying things like coffee, milk, drinks, fruits and more. This was a great help for us to settle in without making immediate plans for groceries. The kitchen is well supplied for preparing all meals at home. Excellent quality wine glasses…. A true indication visitors will be well taken care of. Yet, there are some amazing restaurants nearby. There is a really cool spiral staircase that winds its way to all three levels. i am in my sixties and had no issues. It was helpful to allow a friend to stay for a visit where he had the entire downstairs to himself with a kitchen and living area in between bedrooms. Then, there is the most amazing balcony with an incredible view of the valley and the sea…. Not to mention viewing the famous creepy-cool Erice fog. Overall, perfect for two families or families with teenagers. The host family spare no burden of their own to make sure to keep everyone safe during the trying times of the trailing pandemic. Their availability to assist in any manner was greatly appreciated as the only contact was when it was needed. Secure Parking and the washing machine made everything so much easier. It was an incredible treat to be in this sacred land again! I will be back again and again!

A lovely place in a lovely ancient town

The property owners went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. The spiral staircase between the three levels could be challenging however for anyone with mobility issues. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Lovely stay

My husband and I had a one night stay in this very cute apartment. Utterly charming hosts greeted us and showed us around. The place was spotless. Lovely views. Highly recommend.
