Seawards is a lovely comfortable villa with a nice garden leading right onto the beach but what made it so special was Dawn and Kaysha who looked after us brilliantly. Dawn keeps the house immaculate and Kaysha is a very good cook. Both are so friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed snorkelling over the reef behind the house, a good variety of fish and eels.
Fitts Village is about 30 mins from the airport, taxi was $58 BDS. Jordan’s supermarket was 3 or 4 minutes’ walk from the villa and had everything we needed. Groceries are more expensive than the UK as much of it is imported. Local fish, fruit and veg were quite cheap. Banks beer is good and cheap, $2.75 BDS a bottle. Rum is cheap, wine is not. We also went to Masseys supermarket in Holetown (about 10mins on the bus, $2 BDS each way) which was more expensive but had more choice, including Waitrose products?! It was great having a basket of beach towels by the back door.
Desiree, the Villa Manager, came in on our first day say hello, check we were settling in and to leave contact details in case of emergencies. Michelle was very helpful and booked some trips for us.
We enjoyed dinner at Il Tiempo (nice food, lovely setting, quite expensive) lunch at Just Grillin’ (tasty, large portions, reasonable) and Oistins Fish Fry (went by bus, about 1hr mostly standing $2 BDS, came back by taxi, about 20mins $70 BDS). We went on Friday and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and music.
The highlights were:
Catamaran cruise with Good Times; excellent crew and a brilliant day. Saw turtles!
Scuba discovery with BarbadosBlue was good, snorkelling was even better! Saw turtles! Great fish sandwich from Cuzz, $10 BDS.
Round the island tour with Dave. Lovely man, very interesting. Some great views.
Boat trip with Rod (Unda da Hat). Picked us up from the beach behind the Villa, Rod was great fun and was better at guiding us to the turtles than people on the other boats who kept asking him for help! Saw a stingray as well.
We treated ourselves to dinner at The Tides on our last night. It was expensive but worth it, great food, service and setting. Taxi was $40 BDS each way.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Barbados and would happily go back and stay at Seawards.
