The Old Stables ist ein geräumiges privates Landhaus mit 2 Schlafzimmern und weiteren 2 Schlafzimmern im Nebengebäude für insgesamt 8 Personen. Es ist 3,2 km von der schönen georgianischen Stadt Holt und 8 km von der Nordküste Norfolks entfernt. Der Fluss Glaven verläuft 300 Meter von der Hütte entfernt.

Das Anwesen ist zu einem hohen Standard mit schnellem WLAN im Haupthaus ausgestattet. Die geräumige, gut ausgestattete Küche bietet Platz für 8 Personen, einen Backofen, ein Kochfeld, einen Geschirrspüler und einen Essbereich. Ein zusätzlicher Entspannungsbereich in der Küche ist mit einem Sofa, 2 Sesseln und einem TV ausgestattet. Im Schuhraum gibt es genügend Stauraum für Haustiere, Mäntel und Stiefel. Das Schlafzimmer mit zwei Einzelbetten (das zu einem Doppelbett umgebaut werden kann) und das Badezimmer mit Badewanne und Dusche befinden sich ebenfalls im Erdgeschoss.

Das große gemütliche Wohnzimmer im Obergeschoss verfügt über einen offenen Kamin, einen Fernseher, bequeme Sofas und Stühle mit herrlichem Blick über die Felder. Es gibt zahlreiche Bücher und Zeitschriften zum Lesen und DVDs zum Ansehen. Das großzügige Hauptschlafzimmer verfügt über ein Super-Kingsize-Bett und ein eigenes Duschbad mit Fußbodenheizung.

Auf der anderen Seite des kleinen Rasens befindet sich das Nebengebäude. Dieses verfügt über ein geräumiges Schlafzimmer mit einem Super-Kingsize-Bett und eine kleine Küchenzeile mit einem Wasserkocher, einem Kühlschrank und einem Waschbecken. Das kleine Zweibettzimmer verfügt über Ausziehbetten und das neue Duschbad über eine Fußbodenheizung. Der beheizte kleine Pool ist über das verschlossene Nebengebäude zugänglich und befindet sich in einem weiteren kleinen privaten Garten. Der Pool ist von Mitte Mai bis Mitte September beheizt.
Kinder unter 14 Jahren müssen von einem Erwachsenen im Poolbereich begleitet werden. Hunde sind im Pool nicht erlaubt!

Der sichere Garten mit Rasen im Innenhof verfügt über eine Terrasse, Gartenmöbel und einen Grill. Es gibt genügend Parkplätze für 2 Autos.
Check-in ist 16 Uhr und Check-out 1000 Uhr.

Another lovely holiday

This is our second time our family has visited and once again we were lucky with the weather and everyone had a great time. The swimming pool was much used, especially by the children. We appreciated the dual accommodation, giving space for us grandparents to have some private time in the comfortable annex. Situated close to the seaside, near to the amenities at Holt, and providing peaceful countryside walks for the dog it met all our needs. Many thanks to Fionnuala for sharing her property.

Well equipped with great pool

This property is very well equipped with generous provision of staples in the kitchen (herbs, spices, dish washer tablets etc). Most importantly though, the heated pool was very clean and kept to a very pleasant temperature - the kids were never out of it. Good pub within easy walking distance (though better in the drinks and garden departments than the food).

Wonderful break for all ages

Our family group ranged in age from 9mths to 70years plus dog and we all had a wonderful time. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. Highlight was the swimming pool which we used at least twice a day. There were many great walks for the dog and the 5 yr old loved throwing poo sticks from the bridge into the ford nearby. Lots of bird life, so peaceful but only a few minutes drive to Holt, or walk if you prefer through the wood.(we were told it comes out at Budgens!). Letheringsett mill is 10 minutes walk, we did not manage to visit when open but apparently serves tea and cakes and well worth a visit. The seaside is a short drive away so lots to do nearby if you can get the children to leave the pool. Many thanks for an amazing holiday we will not forget.

Expensive for what you get .

My overall impression of the property was positive although some of the furniture is a bit tired, dated and uncomfortable , the cleaning of the property wasn’t as good as we would have expected , the kitchen floor ,hi chair & fridge door were not clean on arrival . The owner also needs to update the terms & conditions as we were phoned during our stay and ask not to charge our electric vehicle . I would also suggest a few more home comforts eg cushions & covers/blankets for the chairs as they were stained also extra toilet rolls as we ran out . To summarise we enjoyed our stay at the property but expected better value for money .

Great for multi generational families

Beautiful holiday cottage that is probably one of the best equipped that we have ever rented. Well positioned in a peaceful hamlet it has generous off road parking for two large vehicles. The annexe works very well allowing some peace and quiet in the main house. The pool is lovely and stayed warm even with the cloudy weather. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to family and friends.

The Old Stables is the perfect property, pool and location for a wonderful Norfolk holiday.

The Old Stables worked well for us, two families, one residing in the main house and myself and family in the annexe. We found the kitchen well equipped for cooking and enjoyed some meals around the huge table. The weather was warm and sunny during our stay and it was wonderful to use the pool every day. The pool is certainly this properties biggest asset. ( we did have some issues with wasps, my 3 year old niece was stung in the pool on our last day. The small fruit trees around the pool attract wasps and we all felt that the trees should be removed). The property is in a lovely quiet location but close to many attractions and beaches. We have no hesitation recommending The Old Stables and would love to stay again.

Brilliant for families

Property was even better than described . Everything provided from loo roll ,to dishwasher tablets lovely and clean and good quality appliances and furnishing .beds lovely and comfy .. Lovely to have the different sections ,two sitting areas inside ,one attached to kitchen was great for our granddaughter in the mornings as she was an early riser. Annexe area completely separate .also two garden areas one with pool and one with bbq .plenty of space for everyone .three bathrooms a boon with a big family . Pool a great size ,secure access so safe for children ,a real plus to the property .lovely to spend time round the pool once back at the house after a days outing . Highly recommended and very central for access to loads of attractions for all ages . Will definitely be coming again .

Lovely location, but interior could do with updating

We (six adults and a baby) enjoyed the location of the house – Holt is a short drive away and we spent the week visiting Norfolk's beautiful north-coast beaches. The house offered a good base, but we did have a few niggles. The beds, being ziplink, dip in the middle, so aren't particularly comfortable. The spacious upstairs living room feels wasted, with not enough seats if you're a party of eight and an odd configuration – two armchairs facing a small tv. We ended up sitting in rows to watch a film one night! We spent more time in the kitchen, which has a small seating area (for four people), but the armchairs and sofa feel quite old and have no support. The tv downstairs is also small for the size of the room and we found the wifi patchy when several of us tried to use it simultaneously. We did appreciate the recommendations in the Welcome Pack (the farm shop is definitely worth a visit for brunch!) and Fionnuala was a good, communicative host who responded quickly when we realised we were missing a set of keys. Though we enjoyed our break, it did feel like we were paying a "luxury" price for fairly basic accommodation. With a little investment the interior could be made much more functional/usable, comfortable and (though subjective!) aesthetically appealing, which I think is expected for the price.

Fantastic accommodation

We would highly recommend this wonderful cottage and annexe. The pictures do not do this accommodation justice. Very well equipped and spacious inside with a fabulous outdoor pool and plenty of outdoor seating in both garden areas. Both of these are secure for the two dogs you are permitted to bring with you.

Perfect location and gorgeous pool

3 generations of our family plus our puppy just had a lovely week at this gorgeous property. The pool and the area surrounding it were absolutely great - helped by one of the best weather weeks of the year so we all enjoyed cooling off in the pool! The area is wonderful - 5 minutes from Holt (and a decent sized Budgens), 10 mins from Wells, 20 / 30 mins to the beaches at Wells and Holkham. Kitchen very well appointed, very pretty sitting room upstairs in the main house. Worth noting the smaller bedroom in the annex is pretty small for adults - my parents stayed in there and didn’t have much room, but would be fine for 2 smallish children. Overall a gorgeous week and we’ll definitely be rebooking!

Fantastic week in beautiful location

Very comfortable cottage in a lovely location, close both to Holt and the Norfolk Coast. Loads of opportunities for the more active of us with beautiful walks, runs and cycle routes plus all that the nearby beaches have to offer. My husband loved the short walk to the ford and watching the bird life from the nearby bench.

Gorgeous property

This was an excellent property for our family, with our son, daughter-in-law and girls living in the annexe, with direct access to the pool. My wife and I stayed in the main house, with our teenage granddaughter, and it worked very well. The only negative issue we had was with the wasps around the pool. They are a real problem, especially if you have an allergic reaction to them. My daughter-in-law, who is a qualified paramedic, is terrified of wasps and it did impact on her enjoyment of the pool area. It's not really good enough to put up signs saying 'beware wasps', as it's patently obvious because of the number of them. I think it should be mentioned in the particulars on the website. However, apart from that, it's a lovely place to stay!

The Old Stables is a fantastic cottage for a holiday. With is separate annex the property is perfect for extended family groups or two families. Children love the pool and nearby River Glaven (300 yards away). The North Norfolk coast has much to offer with lovely beaches and long walks at Cley, Blakney, Morston, Wells,and Holkham We have great pubs nearby and the Georgian town Holt is 2 miles away which has wonderful shopping and hosts the popular Holt Festivle.
