We recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely, well kept and very private estate home. Three couples and three preschool (3, 4, & 6) aged boys for a week together for a mini-reunion over the 4th of July, and we never felt crowded or cooped up. There are so many things to do, both inside and outside, that we never wanted to leave the house. We were able to spread out in the four large BRs, with enough privacy for everyone. The master BR is huge, with a seating area, an adjacent outside area, huge bathroom, trundle and crib. It does face east however, so in the summer, the room is fairly bright in the early morning.
The kitchen and dining areas are fully equipped (including many pantry items and staples) with everything you need to prepare meals, from breakfast and snacks, to full dinners. There's also an outdoor kitchen area (next to the "spool") with a huge propane grill, running water, small frig, etc. The washer & dryer were great too with the little ones.
The owners have included fully stocked game cabinets and garage storage, for both indoor and outdoor games and sports equipment. If you're bored here, you're just not trying! Yet, you can sit out peacefully on the deck or on the porch for hours on end watching the scenery and just be still and be surrounded by the sounds of nature. The boys loved the playscape and putting green and the "spool", and the adults loved the deck area overlooking the valley for sunset and morning coffee, the pool table and outside activities, and the spool too. There's outdoor seating in several areas, depending upon if you want shade or sun, and which scenery you want to face. The views are absolutely stunning all the way around the house.
The owners did a great job of providing info on how to run all of the lights, a/c, tv/dvd, timers, "spool" features, gates and locks, etc.
It's on a private gated road about 15 minutes off of I-15, just south of Escondido and north of Carmel Mountain area for convenient shopping. There is a winery across Highland Valley Road that has pizza, cheese plates, salads, etc., but not much other food in the immediate area. We stayed in every night -- watching the sunset and cooking on the grill was the highlight of the day.
The owners were lovely to deal with from start to finish. Shannon was a wonderful help recommending "to do's" with the little ones and understanding our needs as multi-generational extended family. We'd love to come stay with them again.
