"Fern und Fern" - direkt am Strand von Madequecham

"Far and Away" ist ein perfektes Zuhause am Strand in der Madequecham Valley Road. Es ist gerade weit genug von der Stadt entfernt, um sich wirklich abgeschieden zu fühlen, aber nahe genug, dass Sie nie mehr als 20 Minuten vom Abendessen, Einkaufen oder einer Radtour in der Stadt entfernt sind. Auf der weitläufigen Liegewiese kann ein Zelt für die perfekte Strandhochzeit oder Großveranstaltung aufgestellt werden (muss im Voraus arrangiert werden und es fallen zusätzliche Gebühren an).

Das Haus verfügt über eine große Master-Suite, 2 kleinere Schlafzimmer und ein helles und luftiges "Kinderzimmer" für bis zu 5 Personen - alle im ersten Stock. Die Küche und das Wohnzimmer befinden sich im zweiten Stock und verfügen über eine tolle Rundumterrasse im hinteren Bereich mit herrlichem Meerblick.

Family vacation

Wonderful beach house….beautiful beach. The view of the ocean from the deck was fabulous. The house was in need of some repairs….nothing major….just basic wear-and-tear. The airplanes fly overhead and the road to access the house is a bit nerve-wracking, but all in all a great place for a family vacation.

Perfect for our family!

We love to come to Nantucket and have been coming for many many years but have never stayed in this part of the island and it did NOT disappoint! The house was perfect for our family, the surf and swimming was just what we were looking for as well. We also love to play games outside and the area around the house was ideal. Being closer to the airport was new as well but it was fun and entertaining. We hope to come back next year!

Lovely Comfortable Beach Home

Exactly as described. Amazing ocean views on a surf side beach. It is a long drive on an unpaved road. If you plan to spend time on other parts of the island it is a journey going back-and-forth. Otherwise a great house and a wonderful spot.

Great home for a family who loves the beach

We were a three generation family who enjoyed ourselves at the house. The house had lots of rooms, porches and beach toys to enjoy. We especially enjoyed the nearby beach where the children searched for shells, learned to body surf on boogey boards, build sand castles, and even see a seal.

Stunning views

Wonderful stay with my family and two dogs. We loved the ocean views from every room and brief walk down steep stairs to the beach. The beach was empty, beautiful and we even saw a sleeping seal on the sand. The dirt road to the home is over 2 miles and a bit bumpy but added to the charm. The house is near the airport but in a more undeveloped and rural area . The home itself was casual and comfortable, nicely stocked and as advertised. We are looking forward to our return.

Perfect Oceanfront Relaxation

My whole family -- from my 6 year old son to my 80 year old mother -- loved our time in this beautiful house! It was very well stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen, towels, beach toys, and everything else we needed. It was a pleasure to communicate with Kathy when needed, although we didn't really need to reach out to her much as we didn't have any issues. A wonderful experience all around!

Peaceful Retreat!

Our family of 7 adults (and 3 month old baby) just returned from a wonderful week at Far and Away. We could not have stayed in a more perfect home for our family. The house was very well-stocked and we had everything we needed- it is so beachy and comfortable. We could not think of one single thing that could be improved upon! We spent lots of time on the spectacular deck with panoramic views, and walked back and forth to the beach countless times. The yard is great for games as well. We were so happy at the house that we hardly left except for 1 or 2 excursions. We loved the isolated location, and the long dirt road leading to the house made us feel like we were really away from it all! The dirt roads around the house are perfect for long runs or walks. Thank you, Kathleen for sharing your home with us. Absolute perfection, we know we want to come back!

Madequecham perfection

Just off a spectacular week at Far & Away. Madequecham has been my favorite Nantucket beach for 30 years, so to be just steps from it is simply perfection. We had two couples and two labs in our party, and plenty of room whether gathering or doing our own thing. We hosted nine adults for dinner during three nights of our stay and brought in private chefs. Again, plenty of room indoors and on the deck for casual grazing and seated dining. One of those nights included an acoustic guitarist at sunset... I think the neighbors enjoyed it as much as we did. The home has everything you need and more, and the owners are a pleasure, super responsive. We will definitely rent again next year (perhaps for two weeks next time) if we don't buy a house like this for ourselves in the area before then. Highly recommended.

Far & Away is a slice of heaven

Little bit of a catch-22 here. As much as my family loved our time at Far & Away, I fear that if I write too glowing of a review, the traffic at this amazing spot may pick up, and box us out from future vacations. Nevertheless, this place was perfect. We came in early September - the best time to visit Nantucket when the water is still warm, the seals are abundant, and most of the summer tourists have gone. You can still have a perfect beach day and get a reservation at any place in town. There's a 5-10 minute drive to Far & Away on a bumpy, sandy road, and we had a newborn, so we had to hold her in our arms as we drove. That was the only negative. Even the drive was wonderful at times though: we saw deer every night and the views are amazing. The house is <100 feet from the southern edge of the island, connected to the house by a grassy path. The pictures don't do the view justice. We must have walked up/down the path 100x across our 3 days here, just relaxing, going to/from the beach at our leisure. Very few boats pass by this part of the island, and on both of our days, only 1-2 people were in sight on the miles of beach. You look out onto a vast expanse of ocean that stretches to the Bahamas. Nantucket is the most incredible vacation destination on earth - the island is magical and you could spend days exploring different parts of it - but you won't want to leave this home. The inside is comfortable, breezy, and well-stocked; outside there is a huge lawn, amazing views, and anything/everything you could ever need for a fun, family vacation. Surf boards, boogie boards, beach toys, outdoor shower. Our children and dogs were completely free to explore the beach, the waves, the porch, the yard...they were in heaven. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful and Secluded House

This house is great for a moderate to large group looking for privacy with an absolute joyous view. The Kitchen and Deck on the second floor look over a beautiful/large lawn great for games and just a short walk beyond that is the beach.

We LOVE Far and Away!

We've stayed here three years in a row and there's nowhere on the island we'd rather stay. With the four bedrooms, it is perfect for our extended family of five adults and two kids. The house is in great condition and this year has a new gas grill, which was fantastic. We love the fact that the living area is one large room that includes the kitchen, dining and family room, all with 180 degree views of the ocean. The vaulted ceilings with wood beams are wonderful, as I'm sure the fireplace would be in colder months. The house is remote, meaning a 10 minute drive down a dirt road, but that adds to the charm of it, with sweeping ocean views and beautiful sunrises and sunsets since the house faces south. The beach is beautiful, the best on Nantucket, and on the calmer days the kids love going out in the waves to boogie board. All communication has been awesome with Kathy, as she's super responsive and very clear about everything the house has to offer and the house logistics (keys, trash, recycling, etc.). The house is 20 or so minutes from town, so of you're looking to go into town a bunch and out to eat all the time, you'll spend some time in the car. But if you want to spend your week at the house, make meals on the grill while looking at the ocean and play games in the large back yard while listening to the waves, this is the perfect house. We can't wait to do it again next year.

Great house beautiful view steps from the beach

Our family had a wonderful week in august staying and Far and Away. The house was great very comfortable and had everything we needed for a week of relaxing and cooking and having fun. The view was incredible and so relaxing to listen to the waves at night and being steps from the beach made it all so easy. We look forward to staying again.

A wonderful family retreat

This home is very private, located down a long dirt road on Madequecham beach. Everything was clean and in good repair, and we loved being so close to the water. Plenty of sleeping and entertaining room for a large group. Hope to return soon!

Figawi Weekend

The Madequecham house is a real Nantucket house. Off a long unpaved Sandy road it puts tranquility and serenity at the top Of the list. We had a full house and there was plenty of room for all. The house was clean and adorable. I would definitely recommended this home to anyone who has a larger group. Especially for those families who want peace and quite away from town and the sounds of the ocean All the time this is your house.

Paradise!

A perfect spot to relax, spend time with family and truly get away. Every time we come we feel instantly at home. Plenty of beds for a large family/group and lots for everyone to do. From the beach to Cisco brewery to shopping in town to just enjoying the scenery from the deck, there's no shortage of things to do. An ideal spot.
