Das Big Lick Retreat befindet sich auf einem fast 2800 Hektar großen Gelände mit privatem Zugang zum Lake Moomaw und ist vom George Washington National Forest umgeben. Es ist der perfekte Zufluchtsort im Freien! Die LakewView Lodge im Big Lick Retreat bietet eine hervorragende Aussicht auf den Lake Moomaw.

Genießen Sie den exklusiven privaten Zugang zum Lake Moomaw zum Kanufahren, Kajakfahren, Schwimmen, Angeln, Wasserski fahren und Bootfahren.

In den 2530 Hektar des Lake Moomaw gibt es eine erstaunliche Vielfalt an Wildfischarten. Forellenbarsch, Schwarzbarsch, gefüllte Forellen (Braun-, Regenbogen- und Bachforellen), Crappie, Bluegill, Pickerel, Kanalwels und Gelbbarsch leben alle im Lake Moomaw. Umgeben von der Gathright Wildlife Management Area, sind seine 43 Meilen Küstenlinie unbebaut. Mehrere ausgezeichnete Bootsrampen stehen zur Verfügung.

Die Bolar Flat Marina befindet sich in der Nähe und ist ganzjährig geöffnet (Gebühr). Boote müssen kürzer als 30 Meter sein. Wenn Sie ein Boot mitbringen, kann es über Nacht im privaten Dock des Big Lick Retreat aufbewahrt werden. Gas, begrenzte Lebensmittel und Campingartikel, Boots- und Bootsverleih, Eis, Köder, Angelausrüstung, Parkplatz und Lagerung von Anhängern sowie Batterieladung sind im Bolar Flat Camp Store und in der Marina erhältlich.

Genießen Sie über 65 km private Wanderwege zum Wandern, Mountainbiken, Schneeschuhwandern, Langlaufen und Reiten. Umgeben von nationalem Waldland - genießen Sie Ihre eigene private Wildnis! Um die natürlichen Qualitäten von Big Lick Retreat zu erhalten, sind motorisierte Fahrzeuge auf Trails nicht gestattet.

Wildlife gibt es zuhauf! Big Lick Retreat ist der perfekte Ort, um Truthahn, Weißwedelhirsche, Weißkopfseeadler, Schwarzbären und vieles mehr zu beobachten.

Auf dem Grundstück befindet sich auch ein großer privater Teich mit Seebarsch und Mondfisch.

Beautiful scenery but the house needs work

For the benefit of anyone looking to stay here make sure you plan on the gas grill being broken, the screen door being broken and the door being left inside leaning against the wall the handle on the shower faucet was broken, the wiring going to the blower on the fireplace is frayed and dangerous no insulation on the wires and left there where children could take and try to plug it in, there was dog hair all over the bed as a matter of fact I picked up my power supply for the computer and the velcro from the power supply had gobs of dog hair stuck to it look like tumbleweed then after we get there we find out we can't use any of the property or the pond which we had purchased out of state fishing license for we were told it was because it was hunting season so we thought we would stay on the roads only and the hunters literally screamed at us from the woods and then we got a notice from the property owner that we were in trouble because we had used the roads. And on top of all of this the couch recliner on the one side was broken another recliner chair was also broken and non-functional without a lot of effort. We spent a lot per night it would have been a great place to stay if it were about half the price but at the price we paid not so much. Just thought I'd try to help those who would look and see all the five star reviews and let you know it's not as nice as what we had expected.

If you want easy access hiking, an incredible lake view, easy spot to launch paddle board, quiet, stargazing, fire pit to sit around, comfortable living space and beds, in a super dog-friendly environment, this is the spot for you. We’d love to return to what really felt like a vacation.

Our Vacation at the lodge

“Fantastic “ is the word , I will use to explain our stay in your lodge. We enjoyed it so much, we will be definitely planning another visit in the future. We felt so close to the Mother Nature, the experience can’t be explained in words. I would recommend to anyone who wants to spend close to nature. The only recommendation I have , to do something on the telephone service. We didn’t have any phone service available within 20 miles radius.

A fantastic place to renew ones self from all the hectic things life gives on a daily basis

If you want a million stars, the view of a lifetime, the peace and serenity of miles of trials and if you like photo’s, this is a great place!!! I wish I had stayed two weeks vs one.

The house takes you back in time to the 70's. However it is well maintained and well worth the fee.

It is a diamond in the rough. We had a great stay. Road is a little rough for a car. Wish we had four wheelers for the fire trails. The lake is great. Highly recommend.

What a great get away!!

We loved the place. The cabin was clean, spacious and well equipped. The view was out of this world and the photographs are a true representation. If you're looking for a place in the mountains, this is it. We spent time on the lake fishing and on the patio looking out over the water. I and my friends strongly recommend Lakeview Lodge at Lake Moomaw.

A thoroughly relaxing and quiet spot.

We were a party of eight and were so comfortable. The view of the lake is superb, and there were many relaxing mornings reading and doing yoga on the porch, and looking out at the lake with a warm cup of coffee. Kitchen dishes/glasses/supplies were plentiful. Fishing, swimming, hiking a boating were all nearby and quite beautiful. The location is very quiet. The house is built into the hill in an interesting, energy-efficient way that probably accounts for how cool it was during our summer stay.

Don't let the photos fool you, the place is amazing

Honestly, I booked the place because of the view and I'm glad that I did. In the morning we woke up to a wonderful view of the lake and waited until the first boat broke the surface of the lake sending waves in each and every direction. Night time we stayed up late star gazing. You can see the milky way although lightly but its there! also caught a few falling stars. The inside of the place is comfy enough to fit 6 adults and our younger ones. It has wireless internet, which came in handy to look for activities near by, but swimming and fishing was more than enough. The place also has TV, but I must admit we didn't think of turning on not once. Instead we spent our time enjoying the view, grilling (Weber grill propane grill - yummm) swimming and hiking the private trails As for the flexibility, our schedule was all over the place yet they were flexible enough to accommodate it no matter which way we stretched them. 2 thumbs up

Great weekend

Was worth the 4 hour drive! Will be back for sure. Wish there were water activities provided or even to rent. Kayaks etc... But overall wonderful place to vacation.

mini vacation in a quiet place on Moomaw lake

Our group of 8 adults, all 55+, spent a wonderful long weekend on beautiful lake Moomaw in Lake View unit of Big Lick Retreat property. We have got everything we need in the house and we certainly enjoyed serenity of the place. It felt like we were the only inhabitants of the place... like we owned it... the woods, the lake, the pristine nature. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed fishing, swimming, private trails. The only advice for trail explorers - take some anti-mosquito spray. And enjoy!
