And perfect for a 2+wks, if possible, in gorgeous Perigord Noir. My husband & I, stayed 3 wks & were joined for a week each by several couples of family/friends. We didn't have children along, but the house is comfortable for kids (not babies).
We were very comfortable here and - after we found the easy way to come and go - very happy with its location. It is ideally situated to visit the must-see sights of the region - it's in the middle, between the Vezere Valley Prehistoric stuff, and the Dordogne River Valley, with its Castles & Gardens/towns. SE is Rocamadour & Gouffre Padirac. Closest wine areas are Bergerac & Cahors-great tasting & scenery. A bit further afield, South,is the Lot River Valley, StCirq LaPopie & Pech Merle Cave.
So - the house itself is as advertised on owner Farah Turner's website, where explanation of facilities and lay-out is quite clear. The appointments - furniture, appliances, as well as little touches e.g. large selection of books (English) and DVD's & CD's, + WiFi make this a very comfortable modern home. There appears to be plenty of hot water, and the tile flooring was heated (it became frosty cold in mid-October). We especially appreciated the heated towel racks in each bathroom.
Part of the experience for all of us is "living" in France, so we enjoyed kitchen, outdoor grill, and the remnants of the summer garden for our meals "in". The pool is lovely & inviting, but as So Calif folks we didn't use it much, in favor of unique pursuits of the region. Each of our fellow travelers loved being in the house and spent a day or more living there and savoring the views, from every window dawn to sunset.
The cleaners do a great job - we had them weekly as our friends came and went, and an add'l quick clean mid-week. This is a home that is very well kept and maintained, a delight for those who appreciate that and will honor its standards of care.
There are two nice restaurants nearby. LaBorderie is an inn in Tamnies, 3 min away. The other: LeChateau in St Genies, about 10 min but easy to do in the dark. Also a small market (Epicerie) in nearby Marquay. Sarlat 15-20 mins.
A couple of cautions to ensure your tranquility: all travelers to this region should have an updated GPS -the roads in all Dordogne are very small, wandering over hill/dale in the countryside. Use with Michelin Yellow #329, you can avoid most goose chases. Or maybe you want to chase them, the foie gras is fabulous!
