"Hálsakot" translates as "neck hollow", where you can snuggle up to find security and warmth. That's what I wish for everyone who visits my house.
Hálsakot is located on a plot of around 2,200 square metres in Flúðir near Selfoss in the south of Iceland. The distance from Reykjavík is about 100 kilometres. It is situated in a very quiet location on a natural plot.
Hálsakot was newly renovated and remodelled in 2019. The house has approx. 50 square metres of living space with a large living/dining area, 3 bedrooms, a sleeping area on the gallery and a shower room. Sleeps 6 people, two of them on the gallery. There are 3 beds in total: 1x 1.40 m wide, 1x 1.20 m and 1x 0.90 m. There are 2 high-quality bed mattresses on the sleeping gallery, each 0.90 m wide. The kitchen has a 4-ring hob, a fridge, a microwave and a dishwasher.
The living/dining area is very bright thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling glass façade and offers an excellent view of the garden and the unique landscape.
A large wooden terrace with gas barbecue and garden furniture borders the south and west sides of the house. From the terrace you can enjoy the beautiful view over the countryside.
There is a sandpit in the garden and the entire property is partly overgrown with wild vegetation and a small stream offers an exciting adventure playground with lots of hiding places for elves and trolls.
There is a small grocery shop on Flúðir. You can buy fresh vegetables in the greenhouses. There are restaurants on Flúðir, including cheap and tasty fish and chips in front of the outdoor swimming pool "gamla laugin" / Secret Lagoon. and: Flúða-Sveppir / Farmers Bistro Kaffi-Sel "Grund" (next to the petrol station) A petrol station is located next to the grocery shop. Activities on Flúðir: - Flúðir swimming pool - outdoor pool with warm water and even warmer hot pots. As well as Gamla Laugin / Secret Lagoon. - Horse riding - 18-hole golf course - Fishing - Vast landscape of mountains, volcanoes, rocks and valleys where, with a bit of luck, you can meet and be inspired by Icelandic elves.
