BESCHREIBUNG
Dieses Studio-Cottage mit Einzelzimmern liegt im Herzen von Carmel am Meer, nur wenige Schritte von Restaurants, Stränden und Boutiquen entfernt. Es befindet sich auf einem ruhigen, doppelt großen Grundstück inmitten eines Wäldchens alter Eichen, das Ruhe und Privatsphäre bietet. Das Haus wurde umfassend mit neuen Bad, Küche, Holzböden, Kingsize-Bett und neuen Möbeln im gesamten aktualisiert.

Dieses freistehende Studio-Cottage wurde vollständig mit modernen Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattet, wobei die Authentizität und der Charakter des ursprünglichen Hauses beibehalten wurden, darunter Kiefernholzdielenböden, Beschläge mit Daumenriegeln und gewellte Glasfenster. Das Haus bietet ein luxuriöses östliches Kingsize-Bett mit Bettwäsche aus ägyptischer Baumwolle (Fadenzahl 1200), belgischem Leinenbezug und Kissenbezügen. Alles ist top.

Es gibt auch ein separates 2 BR / 2 BA Haupthaus auf diesem doppelten Grundstück für 4 Personen mit eigener Küche und separatem Wohnbereich. Es ist gegen eine zusätzliche Gebühr erhältlich. The most enjoyable stay we ever had !!!

How can I put it - I'm actually missing the words of how impressive our 8-day stay was. We felt so save, there was nothing missing. The cozy furnished room exudes a cosiness, in which you are very happy to return. We love Carmel. We love the tranquility and the peaceful environment, the near beach, the small cozy restaurants that are just a few blocks away and always the opportunity to make discoveries in the surrounding area. Just one day we left Carmel to drive to San Francisco, then we wanted to be back in our small, cozy home in Carmel as soon as possible. Barry, our host, has really done everything to make sure we're fine. He was even available for us when we arrived late from LA airport after a long flight from Frankfurt/Germany. The wine that was waiting for us was wonderful and gave us immediately a warm touch. The kitchen has everything you need and Barry has chosen a great decor. Refrigerator, stove, microwave, all the best, including washer and dryer. In the bathroom soft white towels were waiting and Barry even thought to provide bathrobes. I can only repeat myself, it was missing at NOTHING. A wonderful holiday home away from home. I have never left a vacation home so sadly, but unfortunately you always have to first leave to be able to come back! Barry, thank you for your attention and for your warm welcome that you provided. We will be back, for sure. Hug to Jacob and Adam !!!

Fantastic stay in Carmel

We stayed for a week in Barry’s Starfish cottage. It was cozy, very clean and comfortable. What a treat to find a charcuterie tray, chocolates and a bottle of wine! Loved the location. It was so convenient to walk to restaurants and all of the shops in Carmel. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Barry for taking care of us!

Cute, comfy and well-located

We spent 8 lovely nights in Barry's Guest House on an extended vacation. He was SUCH a wonderful host! Proactive in sharing information and very responsive when we had any questions. We had been to Las Vegas and Disneyland prior to arrival in Carmel. What a pleasant change! The cottage had everything we could possibly need. From the beyond comfortable bedding to the luxurious shower, everything was awesome. Several times later in the trip, we lamented how much we missed the always ready hot water and great water pressure in the cottage shower. We watched TV comfortably most night. Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV were all available with our subscriptions. And it was so nice having access to convenient laundry facilities downstairs from the cottage. Thanks, Barry!

Romantic Escape to Carmel

We were on our 40th Anniversary trip and stayed at this dreamy little place. It is so quaint. Very clean and comfortable. Small but doesn’t feel small because every detail is perfect. From the start, our host, staged a romantic atmosphere. The lights turned down low and music on the tv as we entered along with a nice note and treat on the table welcoming us. It was a lovely surprise and set the tone for our trip. Barry is an excellent host. He was a wealth of knowledge of things to do and see, not just tourist spots but unique places. He had little surprises throughout our stay that were so thoughtful but not intrusive. You will love this place!! We will definitely return.

Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway

We stayed for a week in this little studio/cottage just steps from the hustle and bustle of downtown Carmel, with a location so quiet and secluded it felt like everyone was miles away. We have stayed in many rentals and Barry's communication was by far the best of any of the hosts we have worked with. The info provided prior to arrival was perfect, and his response time to any questions we had was superb. He is clearly committed to every guest having a wonderful experience. The cottage is exactly as pictured/described. The bed was very comfy and the linens were wonderful. The provided toiletries were a pleasant surprise - liquid soap for the bathroom sink plus shower gel and shampoo in the shower - and unlike most hotels they did not have a strong scent, which we really appreciated. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants & shops. If you are not familiar with Carmel you should be aware that the beach is a fairly steep walk uphill to return to the cottage. But there is public parking and street parking if the walk is too much for you. If we find ourselves back in Carmel in the future I would only rent from Barry.

Enchanting Honeymoon

The only reason NOT to stay here is if it’s already booked. We utilize VRBO for all of our travels and have had a lot of good hosts along the way. Barry is by far above them all. Communication began at booking. He was flexible with our dates, he kept in touch periodically up to our stay, and checked in a few times while we were there to see if we needed anything, He thought of every detail. The cottage was very clean, perfectly located, and stocked with everything you might need. The cottage is located within easy walking distance of everything in the Plaza, Carmel Beach, the scenic houses along the beach; Point Lobos is only a couple miles away, Mission Ranch a five minute drive, Big Sur a gorgeous 30 mile drive south along the coast of Hwy 1, and Monterey about 15 minutes north. Carmel is a beautiful fairytale place that speaks for itself but Barry and the cottage make you feel like a local with a home away from home.

A Delightful Stay

My husband and I stayed in this cottage and it was serene and comfortable from the moment we walked in the door. The host, Barry, had prepared everything immaculately and was always available if we had any questions or needed anything. The location is perfect, walking distance to plenty of restaurants, shops, and the beach. All the amenities are as described, and then some. We would absolutely stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone.

Perfect Hideaway

It doesn’t get much more ideal than this. Perfectly nestled in the town of Carmel by the sea. The cottage was cozy, quaint and relaxing. Tons of great restaurants within walking distance with beautiful and quaint architecture. Barry the host was extremely gracious and accommodating. He went above and beyond by providing an awesome charcuterie board upon arrival with Brie cheese, crackers, fig jam, and apples with white wine to boot. Check out Bruno’s Deli within walking distance from the cottage Thursday-sat they have an awesome deal on prime rib with veggies and potatoes au gratin.

The Only Place to Stay in Carmel

This is the most magical place I’ve ever stayed. When you walk through the front gate you are immediately surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the winding path leads you to the door of the guest cottage. Walking into the space feels like a warm hug. The owner’s attention to detail makes staying here easy since any possible need has been anticipated. The location cannot be beat. You are walking distance to town and all the wonderful shops, to the ocean and the miles of beautiful beaches, and to some wonderful trails for a serene walk in the woods. I am so happy I found this beautiful place and I look forward to returning again and again!

Spectacular visit

The cottage is a wonderfully special getaway!! The host is a professional who goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and effortless. His attention to detail is amazing- so many thoughtful touches, including a welcoming bottle of wine and cheese and crackers! Barry is readily available for any questions about your stay; he also has great recommendations for best places and restaurants to visit. The cottage is charming and enchanting, just as is the city of Carmel by the Sea. The bed is very comfortable with upscale bedding, and the shower is large with great water pressure. There is a very nice washer and dryer below, as well as iron and ironing board. Cleanliness is A+. We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. Do not hesitate to book your stay, you will love it!!

Cozy cottage

We have been coming to Carmel for years but this was the first time renting a place and I’m now sold! Barry is an excellent host and takes great pride in providing everything you may need and a few extras you aren’t expecting which really made our stay special! I can now fully understand what everyone meant in their reviews. This cottage is so clean and airy and was the perfect Carmel getaway for us! (Oh and I really miss the great water pressure in the shower!) Excellent location and an easy walk to restaurants, shopping and the beach. We will definitely be renting this cottage again!

Barry, we've stayed in many cottages in Carmel over the past 30 years. Your Starfish guest house is by far our favorite. Everything that we needed for an extended stay had been thought of and provided by you. Lots of nice and generous touches. The location is perfect - near downtown and an easy walk - but a couple of blocks away made our stay quiet and peaceful. I've been coming to Carmel for 15 years and find something new to explore each time. Originally from the midwest, I left the harsh winters behind and moved to California to pursue a career in product design. Carmel is my refuge from the buzz of daily life and I hope it will be yours, too. I've been renovating and renting fully furnished homes for almost 20 years and this original style beach cottage in downtown Carmel is my favorite by far.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

I had been looking for a home in Carmel for years, and I bought this one the day it came on the market. It's one of the original and authentic homes of historic Carmel, made entirely of old growth redwood - you just can't find homes like this one anymore. Plus, the double sized lot with some of the oldest oak trees in Carmel make this property serene and calming. The previous owners were a charming couple in their early 90's who got married when they were twenty and lived in this house throughout their lives, bringing their children and hosting their grand kids for decades. Inside one of the cabinets in the laundry room you can still find an original fruit drying rack which I left intact for the sake of history. That rack is what inspired some of the farmhouse touches I used throughout the renovation such as the barn style light fixtures, vintage Edison filament bulbs, and antique rim latch hardware on the doors.

This studio is surrounded by large windows on three out of four sides filling the room with incredible sunlight and fresh ocean breezes. There are blackout shades on the windows if you'd like to sleep in, though. The large king bed has high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets with a Belgian linen duvet cover and pillow shams. You'll feel like you're tucked away in your own private and quiet retreat during your stay, but you'll be just steps away from everything that this magical town has to offer.
