Wenn Sie in diesem malerischen Anwesen ankommen, befinden Sie sich inmitten einer Bucht zwischen dem Point Gratiot Park und dem Canadaway Creek auf einem 1,2 Hektar großen und 200 Fuß hohen Strand am Lake Erie. Diese Auflistung ist für unsere erstaunliche 1200sq ft 2 BR / 1BA oben Wohnung mit einem separaten Seitentüreingang. Ein König, eine Königin, ein ausziehbarer Zweibettzimmer und ein Futon sind im Mietpreis inbegriffen. Diese Einheit gehört zum ursprünglichen Hequembourg-Anwesen aus dem Jahr 1910. * Harminnie war der ursprüngliche Name dieser Villa von Major Harry und Minnie Hequemburg (Nachbarschaft nach ihm auf der Straße benannt), die ursprünglich die gesamte Bucht von Canadaway Creek zu krummen Bach Creek besaß, und tatsächlich war ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Entwicklung der Gegend . Er hat einen erstaunlichen Hintergrund / Geschichte und bei Ihrer Ankunft erhalten Sie eine Broschüre mit Originalbildern des Hauses und Informationen über ein Lager, das er in den frühen 1920er Jahren für Kinder leitete.
Vor unserem Haus gibt es ca. 5 Meter glatte Felsen und dann ca. 200 Fuß Sandbänke können Sie hineinwaten und ist perfekt zum Schwimmen. Am Strand können Sie Zeit für Strandglas und Treibholz jagen, sich sonnen und sonnen oder einen Spaziergang von 10 Minuten zum Dunkirk Boardwalk am Hafen machen, wo Sie eine Kleinigkeit essen, einen Cocktail genießen oder einen Einkaufsbummel genießen können ein paar verschiedene Geschäfte. Dünkirchen Harbour bietet auch einen Yachthafen und eine öffentliche Starteinrichtung für den Zugang zum Lake Erie. Lokale Charters bieten Angeltouren an, um den berühmten Zander zu fangen!

Fantastic peaceful getaway in amazing historical home

Highly recommend this amazing location. Just as described, with great host and lots of little extras. We were privileged to be the last guests of the season. The fall colors were stunning and the charm of the home and the beauty and serenity of the made for a relaxing and serene week. A great place to recharge! Close to Niagara Falls, Allegeheny National Forest among others. Stunning sunsets, beach-combing (collecting sea glass), star gazing and learning about the history of this home are just a few of the perks. Would definitely book again.

Lakeside Retreat

The cottage was lovely and very clean. The kitchen was well outfitted with cookware and amenities. You can hear the lake from the living room. The owners were accommodating of every request. I highly recommend it if your looking for relaxation and beach activities.

Amazing property, exceptional host, pet friendly, private beach! Heaven.

Immediately upon arrival or gracious host, Julia, greeted us with a bottle of local wine and perogies made up the street in Silver Creek by Barbie Pierogies. Our first impression of the home was akin to stepping into a museum. Period antiques, incredible artworks, loads of information on the area and the historic home itself. As an art and history lover, I was in my element and found a kindred spirit in Julia. Amenities-wise, this place has it all. I can honestly say that in all the years we rented homes through both VRBO and other companies, this is by far the best equipped place we had the pleasure to stay in. The fans and room air conditioners did their job perfectly and noiselessly. The kitchen is equipped with a great gas range, a dishwasher (awesome, right?), big fridge, large microwave, toaster oven, a Keurig coffee maker, pods, pots, pans, cutlery, spices, condiments, bowls, regular and paper dishes/glasses, foil, plastic wrap...everything a gourmet cook might need (short of a Kitchen aid mixer). Everything worked perfectly. Paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, sheets, towels, you name it, it's there. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. The private beach is sandy towards the water and filled with beautiful, flat stones closer to the house. I'd recommend bringing water shoes. The location is close to a few parks, grocery stores, hang-outs and delicious food. The coconut shrimp dinner I had at "Off the Hook" was the best I ever tasted and melt-in-your-mouth cooked to perfection. Hubby had their version of a fishermen's platter - also perfectly cooked - with red snapper, shrimp, and scallops. Our fur kids, Polo and Bear, enjoyed the beach tremendously as well as the pristine lawn. Fredonia, Lily Dale, Jamestown, Silver Creek and many other little towns are close by, so I'd truly recommend this property as a hub to explore multiple cities and parks in very little travel time. Julia has all the information and directions anyone could possibly need in the next 3 lifetimes. I kid you not. Overall, I am 150% satisfied with our stay. I simply cannot say enough about Julia. What a great surprise to find someone who truly cares about her guests! We have been renting homes for 26 years, and this is the second time we found a truly gracious host. We will go back for sure. Note: the driveway is somewhat hidden, and marked by a black mailbox directly before the 45 mi. speed limit sign. I hope you will enjoy yourselves as much as we did.

Simple low key beauty by the lake

This home is absolutely beautiful! The Lake front historic property brings you peace and comfort. The stunning sunsets and beautiful clear water of Lake Erie will take your breath away. Our host was incredibly accommodating, professional, kind, and absolutely gracious in every way. We can safely say that this is one of the best vacations we have had and we have stayed in many places through the years. If you're looking for a romantic getaway this place is it. If you're looking for summer fun on the water this place will provide that too. If you just need to decompress in a nice little quiet place by the lake then this is definitely it. Beautifully decorated and a lovely atmosphere. We definitely cherish every moment we spent together in this beautiful place.

The apartment is located right on Lake Erie! Only a few steps to a very quiet private beach front. Check in/out was very easy. This building is an older classic lake front property. Might not suit all guests, but we were fine with it. Every night was beautiful sunsets to gaze upon. We absolutely enjoyed our week there!

A Step back in History

As one interested in historic homes on the beach, this place was magical. Surrounded by the history of the family that build the house in 1928, with much of the original house and 10 car garage in tact, it was like living in an historical moment. The location, right on the shore of Lake Erie was magnificent. Austin, the owner and contact person was readily available and very, very helpful. We loved our stay.

Peace & Relaxation

The house was as described and the pictures were accurate. Spent hours walking along the shore collecting lake glass. Side trips to Erie Canal, Letchworth State Park, Niagara Falls, Martin House and T. Roosevelt Inauguration Site were all done from this Dunkirk, NY VRBO. This property is a great place to get away from the big city life.

Let summer begin!!!!

A quaint historical relic with character cozy feel. All your needs are covered with extra details to discover...explored the parks, pier, lighthouse & beach. Make sure you hit the BIG Dipper for any kind of ice cream concoction you can imagine. The wide beach front was private and had plenty of room to explore. The shallow, clean & clear sand bar was welcoming for me as I like to see the bottom when I swim. Even our 2 newfoundland dogs had plenty of room to play in the yard, nap in the shade of the trees & swim. Fabulous trip!

Wonderful lake front property

Amazing place for a family from Kansas to stay. The lake front house and the ease of access to the beach kept us out side most of the time on our stay and the never ending search for sea glass kept us busy anytime of the day. Great location to start any trip to Niagara Falls, or the Erie Canal locks in Lockport, or even a quick trip to Letchworth state park. The house has as much history as the Dunkirk light house. Over all a great place for a weeks stay and relaxed environment to sit on the waters edge and watch the sun set or get out and see the sites. P.S. no worries if you had forgotten anything at home. Chances are the host has plenty of items from coffee to soap to you name it. It seemed like Take a little leave a little. Thanks for the great week.

Found the deck area cluttered and unusable; moved a boat, driftwood, shoveled and swept sand off; I washed the glass top table (laying on its side) so we could use it. I washed west facing windows and scrub brushed the screens due to cobwebs - the best views from the unit. Didn't trust the linens on the bed so washed them. Had to stand on something to reach the AC unit controls in the living room; had to manually lift water line on bedroom AC unit to have water flow out. Chose NOT to contact management. At over 200.00 a night, it's not my, or my husband's responsibility to discuss and coordinate with repair persons, etc. This is a unique property and a nice beach location. We were very disappointed that it was in the condition that it was in. We cleaned because I was embarrassed to have my family stop by to visit (part of the reason I rented) in the condition we found it in.

Spectacular Lake Erie Getaway

Location was gorgeous and we enjoyed the quiet beach front as well as proximity to restaurants and the Dunkirk area. The apartment itself had everything we needed and then some! We felt at home immediately. Communication with Julia (the host) went above and beyond - we took advantage of her perfect recommendations including a nearby winery, grocery stores, and running trails nearby. This was a great home away from home vacation, and exactly what we needed. Austin was very helpful and accommodating and the house had everything you could think of. Would highly recommend!

A true oasis

There's nothing these property owners haven't thought of, and the care and attention they give the property — as well as the guests — is over and above. My adult daughter and I met here after not seeing each other for almost a year. I was concerned about COVID safety, but I felt very safe, as the owners followed all recommended precautions and more. The kitchen has everything you need, right down to a waffle maker and fancy coffee pot. The beds are big and comfortable. The TV is bigger than the ones we have at home, and we enjoyed Netflix and Hamilton on Disney. (I've been wanting to see that!) We barely saw anyone as we walked Lake Erie, a wild, amazing, ever-changing sea of colors. Our pup was endlessly amused with the waves, not to mention the squirrels, and we made several trips to Allegany State Park, as well as a trip to Niagra Falls. We barely saw anyone anywhere, which is the way we wanted it. So, while this might read as depressing, it was everything we wanted during a scary time.

Wonderful time.

We had a most enjoyable stay . Julia and her sons were so gracious and accommodating in every way. The location on the lake is perfect , and sea glass and driftwood abounds !

Lake Front Beauty!

The lake front location for this historic property is amazing. The 2nd floor apartment has all the amenities for a great getaway. Austin was a great host, making sure we had what we needed. In addition to what is offered within the apartment, there are plenty of games, movies, books, and other things available to keep the family busy! The outdoor area in the yard and on the beach are exactly what we were looking for in our search for a relaxing vacation. This is definitely a place we would return to in the future!

Can't beat the beach views! We loved enjoying the sunsets each evening. Austin was a very accommodating host and we would certainly come back!

I've worked for the Walt Disney Company at Disneyland Resort and The Walt Disney World Resort , managed a seafood restaurant in Hilton Head Island, and Served some of Houston's most prominent people at Houston Country Club, so I have a good idea of how to take care of people and what great service is. I have gone great lengths to preserve the historic integrity of this house and have put together an album with photos and documents of the property 'Harminnie' Originally built and owned by Harry and Minnie Hequembourg back in 1910, it was a great estate, and the history is really interesting! My mother purchased this home from another relative and has been in our family for over 50 years. We are happy to be able to welcome to our home so you can experience its unique aspects!
