Das Whaler´s Cottage ist eines der frühen Häuser in Cape May. Es ist ein Vier-Schlafzimmer-Zweieinhalb-Badezimmer-Einfamilienhaus in der Corgie Street im Herzen des historischen Viertels. Perfekte Lage, um alles zu erreichen, was Cape May zu bieten hat. 5 Minuten zum Stadtzentrum, 10 Minuten zum Strand, 1 Block zum Cape May Tennis Club, Park und Museum. Jeder Quadratfuß dieser Immobilie wurde im vergangenen Jahr liebevoll restauriert. Dieses Haus verfügt über luxuriöse Upgrades von oben bis unten und bietet die perfekte Plattform für die Unterhaltung Ihrer großen Gruppe für den Urlaub. Die erste Etage ist ein offenes Konzept. Der Original 1870 Sunroom fließt in einen großen Familienraum mit einem 70-Zoll-Flachbildfernseher mit HD-Kabel. Das Familienzimmer mündet in eine voll ausgestattete Küche mit Viking Range, Geschirrspüler, Müllentsorgung und einem eingebauten Essbereich mit Platz für 10 Personen. Neben der Küche befindet sich ein Schlammzimmer mit Waschtrockner und ein geräumiges 1/2 Badezimmer. Ein Hauptschlafzimmer mit Kingsize-Bett und 36-Zoll-Flachbildschirm-TV befindet sich ebenfalls im ersten Stock und verfügt über ein eigenes Bad. Die zweite Etage bietet drei weitere Schlafzimmer; Ein Kingsize-Zimmer mit 36-Zoll-Flachbildschirm, ein Full Room, ein Zimmer mit Etagenbetten und einem kompletten Bett sowie ein luxuriöses Badezimmer mit einer Stand-up-Dusche und einer Badewanne. Die dritte Ebene ist ein renoviertes Loft-Kinderparadies mit restaurierten Originalfußböden, zwei Einzelbetten und einem 50-Zoll-Flachbildfernseher für Spiele oder das Ansehen von Filmen. Kühle Dekorationen gibt es in Hülle und Fülle, da sich sammelbare Markenartikel wie Campbell Soup, CocaCola und JNJ mit älteren Produkten der ursprünglichen Walfänger von Cape May gegen den Hintergrund eines Luxushauses mischen. Außerhalb des Hauses hat eine Außendusche, Gasgrill und eine Terrasse für Ihren Outdoor-Genuss. In einem geräumigen Schuppen können Sie Fahrräder und Liegestühle abstellen. Lovely house, met all our needs. We only stayed the weekend, but would be a great spot for a week-long stay with a fully stocked kitchen & washer dryer. Wish we’d had time for the bikes and an in-house meal. Quite clean & was more than spacious enough for 8 adults.

Love Cape May

This was our 4th trip to Cape May and our first time at the whaler’s cottage. It was a fun place to stay and make memories with our children and grandchildren. It sits on a quiet tree lined street with an awesome playground nearby. What we liked: There were plenty of bedrooms and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom and outdoor showers were great. The living room is spacious. A laundry room and half bath were conveniently located at the side entrance. The Forte gas range was wonderful for cooking and the Bosch dishwasher was quiet. There was plenty of parking and space for the kids to ride their bikes. The shed was stocked with bikes and beach gear, and there were eight beach passes for our use.What we didn’t like: The AC units are directly outside the master bedroom window and they are loud for light sleepers. The kitchen has minimal counter space and the island cart is quite small for making meals to serve 10 people (6 adults and 4 kids).

Great location for family

Had a great trip at whalers cottage we were there for an early June family trip and it this location was great. 1 minute walk to a great park with playgrounds, a pond, basketball and fishing and only 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Plenty of space for our group family of 4 (2 girls 5 and 3yo) and our nanny. We also had our friends stay for 2 nights who also have 2 toddlers and had plenty of space. The owner had great communication with us and really had all the essentials we needed in the shed. The only issue was that there was construction next door which was annoying but the workers were nice.

Charming, convenient, comfortable and clean

Our family loved the Whaler's Cottage. We have rented in this neighborhood for several years and love the proximity to the tennis club and Washington St mall. It's on a quiet, charming street. The house was perfect for our needs and we would definitely love to stay here again. A few notes:- FYI, the house next door is undergoing major renovation. We arrived on Thursday night and left on Monday, which was a holiday, so we only experienced one day (Friday) when the workers were on site. They started promptly at 10 am. We were out and about for most of the day and didn't spend a lot of time at the house, but when we were there, the noise was bothersome. It would have woken up a child from a nap. But if you'll be out during the day, it should be ok.- The house is more spacious than it appears in photos. - The loft with two twin beds can only be accessed from the bedroom with the bunk beds.- We received an email with checkin instructions that had incorrect wifi information. The correct wifi information is on a message board under the living room TV.- The TV does not have integrated access to streaming services. I wish I'd brought my Chromecast device so we could have watched Netflix or Disney.- Random things I was glad that they provided: paper towels, dishwashing soap, kitchen towels, Keurig pods, tea bags, liquid hand soap in the bathrooms- Things we're glad we brought: Kleenex, gloves for washing dishes, foil, cooking spray, honeyThanks for a great vacation!

Girls weekend

The home was lovely, clean and within walking distance to the beach and town. The street and surrounding area was beautiful and quiet. There is construction going on at the house next door, however, we were fortunate enough to get there on a Friday evening when the workers were shutting down for the weekend. The crew at the site did an excellent job ensuring the driveway was clean and fenced off. We had a wonderful time and thank the owners for allowing us the opportunity to stay in their lovely home.

Great house!

My family and I came to Cape May to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday. This was our first time staying at the Whaler’s Cottage, and we were very pleased. It is a beautiful house, and it is very clean. It is in a great location, about a 10 minute walk to Washington Street. Would 100% recommend and stay again!

3rd Christmas/New Year’s stay

This is my family’s 3rd time staying here. We really enjoy the house and the location in Cape May. A simple walk to the mall and beach from the house. Very clean and organized home. 5 bedrooms including the 3rd floor if you need. Obviously we enjoy since we come back every year!

Lovely Home, but Host’s Invasive Behavior Violates Disability Rights

The Whaler’s Cottage is a beautiful and well-maintained property, but our stay was overshadowed by the host’s inappropriate and legally questionable actions. Shortly after our arrival, the host messaged me on the Vrbo app and accused us of sneaking in a pet and then demanded documentation for my service dog after apparently seeing its vest, raising concerns about being watched. As a person with a disability, I am protected under the ADA, which prohibits such intrusive demands. Service animals are not pets, and hosts cannot require documentation or inquire about the nature of a guest’s disability. The legal consequences for such behavior include fines and potential lawsuits for ADA violations. A more appropriate approach would have been to ask, “Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?” and “What task is it trained to perform?” This would have respected my rights while addressing the host’s concerns. While the home itself is lovely, the host’s invasive behavior made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Until the host demonstrates a better understanding of ADA compliance, I cannot recommend this property.

Getaway with friends

Came to Cape May for relaxed weekend with friends. House met all our needs. First floor layout is perfect for gathering. Kitchen had everything we needed. Very spacious. Will definitely look again to this property for a summer rental.

We just finished renovating The John Hand Black and White House Built in 1700 Listing # 4851711) This is a luxury retreat born out of a complete renovation of the oldest house in Cape May. We always try to give our guests a great experience while in one of the best places on earth - Cape May NJ!

The Whalers Cottage is just awesome. Its filled with high end amenities and is really comfortable, but also has a ton of artifacts from the 60's and 70's. Rhonda did all of the decorating and if you are 40-50 something you will see tons of little items around the brands we grew up with ; Coke, JNJ, Campbells reflected in there original form. It is on a quiet street and really convenient to beach, town and attractions
