LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Your family will enjoy their stay in our sunny cottage in the heart of downtown Michigan City walkable to everything. A stone's throw from all the best restaurants & shopping. 1 mile to Washington Park Beach. Leave your car at home! This delightful cottage is 1/2 block to the South Shore Train Station at 11th St. This unit is centrally located to local wineries, breweries, antiquing, Indiana Dunes National Park (15 minute drive by car), many restaurants, ND football (40 minutes by car), and Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets (walkable).
THE SPACE: This super cozy home has recently undergone a complete renovation. We would appreciate if guests did not wear their shoes inside, so we recommend bringing your favorite slippers. A boot tray is located in the foyer to hold wet/salty/sandy shoes. All fixtures, appliances, flooring, lighting, and HVAC are all brand new. Interior design is our specialty, and this property is no exception! With a charming mix of old and new, this space has been perfectly curated to make you feel right at home. Thick cotton towels, fluffy down comforters, high thread count sheets, warm lighting & fully stocked kitchen. Whether you're preparing a dinner for 2 or hosting a Friendsgiving, this kitchen can handle it! A crockpot, waffle iron, Ninja blender, plenty of bakeware and cookware, as well as serving dishes, are ready to assist your inner chef!
GOOD NIGHT: All beds have Serta memory foam mattresses. The primary bedroom has a queen bed with 4 hypo-allergenic pillows. The bunk room has a twin bed over a full size. Each bedroom has a small dresser.
TECHNOLOGY: A 55" 4K smart TV is in the living room. The Wi-Fi modem is located in the tv cabinet. We prefer you disengage from TV and other electronics during your stay and enjoy the great outdoors!
OUTDOORS: (Updated 2/3/25) Due to this renovation being recently completed and that its winter, the outdoor space is still under construction. The yard is currently sandy with some grass. Please message us with any questions prior to making a reservation about what might be planned for this area. We will update this section once the work & staging has completed.
CHECK-IN INFO: Guests who book will receive detailed check-in instructions the day of their arrival. The instructions will include the code for the door, wi-fi password, and other important information.
ADDITIONAL INFO: For group with small children, this unit is not baby proofed! Outlet blockers are not installed, furniture is not secured to walls, cabinet doors are not secured or locked. It is your responsibility to watch out for your children and guests.
Other than a few steps up the front porch to enter this property, once inside, everything is all on one level. This property is in a residential neighborhood. We appreciate our wonderful neighbors and aim to keep our property in excellent condition. We require interested guests have positive reviews from past trips on their profile. This property is located in a transitional neighborhood (there is ongoing construction at the South Shore train complex one block to the south, as well as a mix of year round residents and other vacation rentals nearby). We have other rentals in this area and have never received any safety concerns or complaints. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out prior to completing your reservation. With regards to the South Shore Train, the train itself is prohibited from sounding their whistle, but you are able to hear the train depot bells that signal the train's arrival and departure. It's actually not very loud. Please note - There is a motion sensor light on the side porch by the sliding door that activates if people walk down the alleyway or cars are driving by. It sometimes comes on when travelers are walking past as they leave the train stop.
Smoking in any form is NOT ALLOWED in the property. Any evidence of smoking (smell, butts, ashes, paraphernalia) will result in an additional $300 cleaning fee, and/or loss of security deposit if one was collected. If a security deposit is collected, it will be returned to you within 24 hours of your departure once the cleaning team has reviewed the property and determined it to be in good condition.
