Relaxes

Quiet and peaceful. Amazing night sky with the sound of the river and croaking frogs. Leaky has some great little restaurants. Bent Rim Grill and Gypsy Sally's were great. State parks nearby with good hiking, especially Lost Maples

Soaking in nature

We loved how isolated we were. My kids loved the river that was close to us, not much water in it but enough to enjoy the afternoon. The beds were so comfy! The cabin was equipped w everything we needed, just make sure to grocery shop before arriving because the trip to the nearest store was a ways away. The stars were incredible. I really enjoyed it!

Great weekend trip

We will definitely return to this property in the future. With a 6 & 7 year old the house size and layout was perfect for them to play outside, and although the water level was low we enjoyed hunting for tadpoles and crawfish in the low pools. Host gave great directions on where to find deeper water and what was available in the area. Host was responsive to inquiries and readily messaged me back when I had questions. The house is older but not shabby, it's very comfortable for a weekend vacation and had everything we needed! We have already started planning our next trip with friends, maybe during the summer!

Hill Country Getaway

Great place to stay. It was comfortable and accommodating. We got full use of the kitchen as we ate most meals in. We loved sitting on the front porch, listening to the river.

Great hil country stay!

This was a couples trip birthday celebration/wind down from all the holiday craziness and it was perfect. We did a 5 mile hike with amazing views, chillaxed, laughed, ppayed games at night. There was a wine bottle we enjoyed with dinner the host left as a gift. We highly recommend

A very nice getaway for a double couples trip!

Leaky Frio River trip

Property was stocked very well, clean, and comfortable. The house setting at the base of the limestone cliff overlooking the Frio and Hill Country was fantastic! Very relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised at the conveniences located in Leaky. We were able to find all supplies and groceries that we needed and several restaurants. Looking forward to our next trip to the Hill Country.

Hey peaceful, stay in the Rio River Valley.

Quiet, peaceful, Faced the east so there was shade in the afternoon on the front porch. The kitchen was well stocked with pods, pans, glasses, etc.

Great location with only 10 minutes to town and beautiful view. Right on the river. My wife and i needed some R&R and this place most certainly did the trick. We will most certainly be back.

Cozy, relaxing getaway spot!

Our whole family loved this house and the location - very comfortable for a relaxing weekend getaway. The proximity to the river was perfect and our kids loved exploring the area, wading through the river, and using the fire pit! Never even had time to enjoy the games and movies inside! We were happy to find the kitchen had all of the necessary equipment and utensils for cooking as we made all of our meals at the house. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Back to school river trip

The cabin/house is perfect for a small group or family. A short drive from Garner and other fun locations. But, the river in front of the cabin is great to just hang and let kids explore! The home is fully stocked with just about everything you could need in the kitchen as well!

Relaxing Trip!

We enjoyed our time at the Riverfront Cabin! Cabin set up was great for a family of 3 and a/c worked great!! Very important when outside temp is 100+…we enjoyed being so close to river — worked great with 2 dogs that loves water! John was great!

The perfect weekend getaway

My little family booked for our long weekend, and I definitely overpacked, and it was an amazing trip in a beautiful location and this charming cabin was exactly what we wanted. The river is close and my toddler spent the afternoons wading and picking up rocks. The kitchen was easy to use for cooking and meal prep. We made s'mores for the first time as a family on the fire pit. Loved it, highly recommend!

Property was great. We had a secluded water area that we had all to ourselves. Only downfall was the shower was clogged and we had to unclog it ourselves.

Rio Frio Annual Trip

We go to the frio almost every year and normally stay on friends property who has a camper. The cabin was a welcome tradition to our trip! The kitchen was stocked, AC was cold, beds comfortable and stars were amazing as always! We had a great trip and will def rent again!

Great house!

We really loved this house. It’s perfect for two couples with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Clean and fully stocked with everything you’d need. Gorgeous view. The path down to the river is pretty steep and overgrown so it’s a short walk down the driveway and you can access from a low water crossing. John is very responsive and helpful.

Amazing Girls Trip Getaway!

The area is beautiful and the Frio River is right there practically in the front yard! Even with the river being low at the time, we found some gorgeous places to swim, float, and relax! We will be back!

Very nice cabin with all the amenities. Bring food to cook on stove or grill outside. Forgot something? Drive 8 miles into town to a we. ll stocked mercantile store. Great cabin for kids to explore outside

We love to travel, but we always come back to the Texas Hill County which is our favorite place in the world - home. John grew up as a fourth generation Texan in San Antonio and for many years made a living as a sports photographer. We love doing anything outdoors. We have a big family and lots of friends! My wife and I both compete in ultra distance canoe racing, marathons and the occasional triathlon. We love golf, movies, sailing in the Caribbean and spending time at the cabins.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

We fell in love with the beauty of the Hill Country, the rugged beauty of the land combined with the crystal clear water of the Frio and the wide open skies at night. When I was young my mom started bringing us out to Leakey for the holidays, we used to come out and spend summer nights dancing in Garner State Park. Eventually mom wanted to get a place of our own out here, but we wanted to get away from the huge summer crowds further down river. Mom is a river guide and Master Naturalist and for years brought her kayaking groups to the Frio for fun paddles here and around this area. Mom found this place up in the canyons near the headwaters and she bought it for the family and friends to enjoy.

The very best thing about our cabins is that they are DIRECTLY on the beautiful Frio River. Sitting on the front porch, you are literally looking down at the River about 20 feet away. At night you can hear the water trickling over the rocks and if you listen closely, .....deer hooves on the river bed as they come out for a drink. Located in a sparsely populated area of Real County, this charming little Frio River Canyon is a perfect Texas Hill Country Getaway for couples and families.

Just far enough from town (10 mins) that you can really enjoy the peaceful sunsets and sunrises and close enough that you are only minutes away if you forgot the bread, or need some fresh veggies for the salad.
