The property itself is stellar, but upon booking I was sent a contract to sign stipulating an additional $500 cash deposit that would be held for 45days. I reached out to VRBO who told me I would not need a contract. I reached out to the rental company because the contract was not mentioned before booking and in fact I could not tell this was a realty company. They told me I would not have to pay the additional deposit, but kept sending emails that I would have to sign to comply with NC laws. I told them I would be happy to sign if they removed the language about the $500 and asked them how they wished to proceed. No response. I looked up the law and sent them the language that gave 3 options, only one of which was to sign and asked if we could be good based on that. Still no reply until the day before where they told me they would have to cancel if I did not sign. At that point I called to ask them to not cancel and a woman with much animosity yelled at me over the phone about how ridiculous this was and how foolish I was and how she had no time to talk to an idiot like me. I never got to say a word to explain because she hung up on me. I found out the following weekday that the woman is one of the owners, which would explain the passive aggressive signs about customers having bad attitudes in their office. I suspect the issue is not the customer.
