Beautiful Bellevue

What a wonderful experience! From the time we checked in until the time we left this property felt just like home. Louise was a phenomenal host: personable, attentive, kind, and generous (she made little bags of Halloween treats for our son and our dog!) The property is quaint and functional, just the perfect size for a small family with a dog. Being on the beach side is a definite plus, as it is only a few hundred feet until your toes are in the sand! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something in the heart of Dewey that is not too big and not to small, but still within walking distance of the beach and everything Dewey has to offer!

We had a wonderful time . The house was perfect for us and our pups. We had to have a late check in due to death in the family and Louise waited for us . Just wonderful experience ! We will definitely be back !!!

Location is everything!

The location of this property can't be beat! Close to the beach and walking distance to anything in Dewey that you would want to do. Having your own parking spot is wonderful. The home is dated, but comfortable and charming. Bathroom is tight but the outdoor shower is a wonderful extra spot to shower. Even though the home sleeps 6, it would be best for a family with small children. It would feel cramped with 6 adults. The porch is a nice place to sit and people watch while having coffee or drinks. Our dog loved to watch the comings and goings and it was a very pet friendly home in a neighborhood with lots of other dogs. The hosts were very friendly and easy to reach with a question. The only thing we felt the home was lacking was a hose for rinsing off sandy feet and cleaning our sandy dog but we made do with the outdoor shower. Overall we enjoyed our stay!

Great beach getaway!

This beach cottage was exactly what we were looking for--on a beach block in Dewey and dog-friendly. Steps to the beach and restaurants, etc. that Dewey has to offer. We loved the front porch and having the picnic tables in the back for morning coffee and dinner in the evening. It's very clean and spacious for us (just a couple and our dog).The kitchen was pretty well-stocked, giving us a great option to cook in sometimes. There's no dishwasher or washer/dryer, but having the clothes line was great to get that fresh smell of clothes dried in the sun! The outdoor shower was nice as well to get that sand off. Check-in is in person, which was a little tricky on our way there as we got delayed and hated to keep Louise and her husband waiting, but luckily they were very gracious about it. It might be more convenient for both guests and hosts to explore some other options for check-in. Overall, we loved our stay and hope to be back next year!

Dewey Vacation -July 2024

Con: I would prefer to have a lock box to get in the house rather than have the owners and their dog there to greet us and give us a list of the things we need to do while we stay and before we leave (trash nights, sweep the floors before we go, make sure dishes are clean and put away before we leave). The list was already hanging up for us to reference. After driving 3 hours all we wanted to do was unpack and settle in. They were very nice but for us we prefer the ease of a lock box. BIG CON: The AC wasn't working properly. It was 77-78 degrees for 2 days (high 90's outside). The first day I texted the owner and they never responded. I contacted VRBO and they tried calling the owner and they did not answer. 24 hours later I texted the owner again and they responded. We went out to dinner and they came to the house and when we got back it seemed to cool down. It sounded like some vents needed to be changed out and from then on AC was fine. Unfortunately, 2 of the 4 days we were there it did not work. It also seemed like the thermostat wasn't working properly or they were able to control it from home. We would turn it down, go to the beach, and then the thermostat read something different when we returned. Pros: beach block! Close to all restaurants, stores, etc., parking for 2-3 cars, outdoor shower was great! Neighbors in the back were really friendly.

Favorite place!

We love Dewey Beach and Louise’s beach house is truly our home away from home! We have stayed with our dog the past two summers and already booked for our third year. You cannot beat the location! Close to the beach and all the local restaurants. Louise is a wonderful host and provides you with everything you need. We can’t wait to be back!

Great cottage close to beach!

Cottage was a perfect stay for our family and pups! Great location on the ocean side and the convenience of the outdoor shower was a bonus! Kitchen had many amenities and the air conditioning worked well! Louise was a very responsive and informative host! I would rent again and highly recommend!

Great location and great time

Thank you Louise and Carl for letting us use your comforter home. We had a wonderful time everything was clean and tidy when we arrived which was so nice to see after our journey there. The house was cozy and enough room for 6 adults. The location was great to everything. We only drove when we went to the boardwalk and to the state park. It was great to have two showers with 6 adults. The outdoor shower was the biggest hit!

Wonderful Family Vacation! Loved it!

This was our second stay at Louise’s beach cottage! We had an amazing time! Her home is in a perfect location. It is a very short walk to both the beach and all things Dewey! Her cozy home has everything you need for your stay. We loved sitting on the porch in the morning with our coffee or at night with our cocktails. We were fortunate to be able to bring our two golden retrievers, and they absolutely loved the beach! Louise is a wonderful host, and she goes out of her way to make you feel welcome! You will love it here!!

Perfect vacation!

We had such an amazing time staying at Louise’s property. She is a great host! Very close walk to the beach along with multiple restaurants and shops in walking distance. We didn’t move our vehicle all week there was no need to drive. Our favorite part was being able to bring our dog who we found out absolutely loves the beach. The outdoor shower is also a huge bonus. No complaints what so ever and we will definitely be back next summer!

Another wonderful stay

This was our second summer at this beautiful house and it was just as wonderful as the last. The new floors look great and Louise has everything a family needs for a relaxing stay at a great location. Even with rain and a sick 4 year old, we still loved our time at the house.
