Escape to “Island in the Sky,” a breathtaking Shenandoah Valley retreat designed for unforgettable family memories. Nestled high on a hilltop with panoramic mountain views, this spacious new construction 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home combines complete privacy with endless entertainment. Enjoy your morning coffee or an evening glass of wine on the screened porch or patio, where you’ll overlook a heated pool (seasonal), a hot tub, and sweeping views of the valley and mountains.
Inside, there’s room for everyone to unwind. The main floor’s open kitchen and living room are perfect for gathering, while the downstairs rec room offers ping-pong, air hockey, games, and a TV with Netflix and DisneyPlus. Roast s’mores by the fire pit under the stars or start your day with a stunning sunrise on the porch—it’s a Shenandoah escape like no other.
Sleeping Arrangements:
• Main Floor: Primary bedroom with king bed and private bath.
• Separate Wing: Second bedroom with a queen bed and third bedroom/office with a queen Murphy bed, sharing a full bath. The third bedroom/office has private access to the porch and patio.
• Lower Level: Large bedroom with a king bed, two twin beds, and an attached bath.
Outdoor Amenities:
• Hot Tub & Heated Pool (seasonal): The pool (open April 1st to October 31st) can be heated to 84°F on request and stays naturally warm during summer months.
• Game Room: Enjoy indoor fun with ping-pong, air hockey, board games, toys, and family-friendly streaming services.
• Trampoline: For outdoor fun, a trampoline is available. Just inspect for safety, close the net, and follow use guidelines.
Important Considerations:
This property is accessed via a steep gravel driveway—4WD is recommended, especially in winter. Perched high with drop-offs on three sides, the home is secure but requires guests to supervise children near edges, the fire pit, and pool area.
Additional Info:
We’re happy to offer a late checkout (when available) so you can linger just a little longer. Enjoy a relaxing final day and a 6 pm checkout for 50% of Saturday’s rate (confirmed by host).
“Island in the Sky” awaits, where modern comforts and natural beauty come together for an unforgettable getaway! Area Activities:
Within Fort Valley itself there are many great hikes that originate right from Fort Valley Rd. I spent my childhood weekends on family forced marches leaving from the little yellow house at the entrance of our property. Having since recovered, I now hike on purpose - I use the app AllTrails to help me navigate, but my favorites are also listed here: Buzzard Rock and Kennedy Peak.

Another breathtaking view - but only a very short “hike” is Woodstock Tower just up the fun very curvy road from us.
If your group is up for it, the Fort Valley Ranch offers trail rides and occasionally has some weekend event/gathering around the campfire afterwards. Link to some other local gems are here:

Most commercial activities (restaurants, shops and vineyards) are located in the surrounding towns of Woodstock, Strasburg, or Front Royal. My personal favorite is Muse Winery - https://yelp.to/LUChxTTdEn
North Mountain vineyard is also lovely. Both are about 20 miles drive away.
I describe the Fort Valley itself a bit like “the place time forgot” but nearby amenities are plentiful within a 20-30min drive…we have even had spotty but pretty reliable success with Instacart deliveries out there.
