Weekend in Boston

Great location but property is VERY old, no surface was flat, lots of ‘make do’ type of work. Beds were fine but the ‘living room’ with the TV is VERY small. Kitchen is not set up to but cook any meals but ok for drinks and snacks. It was clean and the host is very responsive.

Boston/Salem Trip

Five of my friends and I went to visit Salem & Boston for a long weekend and we pretty much just needed some place to sleep and shower as we were out and about the entire time and this was great for what we needed. It was close to nearby attractions in Boston and only about 40 minutes to Salem depending on traffic. It was also walking distance to Harvard Square which was nice. It was not lavish or fancy so if that's what you're looking for it won't be for you but if you need a lowkey place to stay this will work just fine.

A bit like student housing

The location is excellent, and the price very reasonable... but the house is dingy and a bit delapidated. Slanted floor, exposed directly to street noise, tiny bathroom, droning refrigerator.

Depends on what you need

This property is in a great location if you are wanting to explore Harvard square. It is a safe short walk to many restaurants and nightlife. The apartment itself is clean but rundown. The entrance hall is full of old mail and dirty shoes. The recliner is broken in the TV room. There are no kitchen towels and leaves were blowing in through the air conditioner . For us it worked but for what you get it is overpriced.

Out of Date

"Charming historic" is putting a lot of marketing spin on this place. While it was generally clean and largely functional, the structure, finishes and built-in equipment were well-worn. There was a rip in the upholstery of a chair and others were stained. The only linens provided were the bedding, 3 bath towels and a hand towel; no kitchen linens or washcloths. The photos in the listing are likely from a few years ago. A previous review describing this as an undergrad apartment is being generous.

Adequate

The property is located in a beautiful neighborhood. Although facing a main street it's not loud and sleeping well is possible. I informed the host we would be six guest. The two main bedrooms are nice , however the third room was not adequate. Pillows , blankets , and towels were not provided for guest 5,6. The pullout sofa on the third room (which was more like a small office) is small and uncomfortable. When we arrived the floor entrance was covered with mail. We were told we could not check in earlier as the house was being cleaned - it did not seem like someone had been to the house in days. The house was also frezzing ( which was remedied but turning on the thermostats in each bedroom). Lastly , we received a $100 ticket for parking in front of the house. The host provided a " resident parking pass" and informed me I could park anywhere it said resident parking -I did so but apparently on Fridays it's street cleaning day. Our car was almost towed. If you park be sure to read all the signs carefully. There area many signs which makes it a bit confusing.

Location and Price Can't be Beat!

What a great location close to Harvard and public transit. Bus stop out fron (71/73) or a 15-20 minute walk to Harvard Station (red line). THE View of the Charles River from bedrooms was a bonus. Yes, the building and apartment are outdated a bit run-down, but it was SAFE and it was CONVENIENT and CLEAN. The livingroom is a small seperate room with a futon and a door that can be closed for privacy. It pretty much was my son's room during our stay. We hung out at the small table in the kitchen. We didn't prepare any foods but there were a few pots and pans and a stove and microwave. We did take use of the two small fridges to store beverages and leftovers and snacks. Yes, you do hear the traffic along a busy street so this is not tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Bring earplugs or a white noise machine if that would bother you. Its a BIG CITY so it didn't bother us. Did I mention the great location!!! The cleaners use a strongly-scented fabric softener so expect to have really clean smelling linen and towels. There is no washing machine in unit. The heaters in each room work well. It was cold during our visit so can't speak to the window ACs. Beds are foam and big soft comforters are provided in the bedroom closets, if needed. Kurig and coffee pods were laid out for us, although we didn't use them. Shampoo and conditioner was also provided. We enjoyed our affordable, cozy but short stay amongst the multi-million dollar houses with the million dollar view! Thanks!
