It was our first time in Barbados. Family of three adults.
We stayed at Whitesands Beach Villas from June 1st to 8.
The Villa is located at Dover, close to St.Lawrence Gap.
Villa S is beautiful, bright and spacious place that can accommodate up to 4 adult people. It is situated right on the beach, has private and secluded area for lounge chairs, as well as close proximity to Dover Beach. Depends on the waves, sometimes it is not possible to use this beach area due to the high tide. To get to Dover beach you could go by the shore (many rocks and waves) or by the street. It is only 5 minutes. Dover Beach is a longer stretch of white sand, calmer water and local food restaurants. To rent two beach chairs and umbrella will cost you $20 BBD or $10 US.
At the Villa, there are plenty of chairs and towels for your use at anytime. The Villa is very well maintained, clean and has a secured entrance.
Apartment: 3rd floor, very spacious with good size bedroom, recroom and full kitchen. There is a pullout couch that can accommodate two people. The kitchen has all cooking supplies, as well as wine glasses and a mixer. The balcony has a partial view of the ocean, but mesmerizing sunset scenery. Two concerns regarding the apartment: the mattresses were uncomfortable to sleep and the shower facets in both bathrooms need to be cleaned due to the build up of calcium.
St. Lawrence Gap has variety of bars and restaurants for everyone’s taste and budget. We tried local Promto, Amigos and Infinity. They provided local atmosphere, Bajan food and life music. It is tasty and budget friendly. Sole Cafe is one of tourists’ favorites because of it is shore location, great cocktails and Mexican cuisine.
Attractions: we hired a cab for the day to see the island from coast to cast. It was absolutely incredible experience. We were able to see different towns, learn about rum history, traveled through Harrison's cave, observe Highland point, and ate at the local restaurant in Moon town. We would recommend our driver and expert tour guide Peter. His phone number is (248)-86-19.
Another must do tour is a Tiami Catamaran Cruise. Hands down, worth every penny. It is all day of sailing, snorkeling, lunch, desert, snacks and of course bottomless drinks.
Please don’t miss Friday Night Oistins Fish Market. It is an experience of live music, dancing and delicious grilled fish. You will mingle with Bajans, have laughter, conversation and street entertainment.
